He would have been good with us.

Didn't Houllier choose to sign Diao and Diouf instead of Anelka?

With all the drama that's been surrounding the club these last days...... I'm seriously worried about Bolton.... From memory, they've been a bogey team for us in recent years. Now that they've started playing the Bolton under Sam Allardyce again, we need to be wary of them....

Not a game to be taken lightly by any stretch of the imagination.

very close to the top of the League.

I agree

Not convinced villa will beat Arsenal, maybe's draw.

The only side of the 'top four' villa have beaten in the league since 2003/4 is Chelsea - twice. In fact the villans haven't lost to Chelsea at home in that period!

Villa vs the 'top four' in the Premiership (2003/4 - 2007/8)

Home P19 W2 D8 L9 F10 A26
Away P16 W0 D2 L14 F9 A35
Total P35 W2 D10 L23 F19 A61

vs Chelsea P9 W2 D4 L3 F8 A8
vs Arsenal P8 W0 D3 L5 F3 A17
vs Liverpool P9 W0 D3 L6 F5 A14
vs Man Utd P9 W0 D0 L9 F3 A22

Some might read into villa's lofty position that they've turned a corner or something, truth is o'neill has not done anything his predecessor didn't manage - a decent record against Chelsea. They might be the new spudz, their next ten games will sort them out for a probable UEFA finish and no better

It's Arsenal at Villa, Man Utd at home to Fulham, Chelsea at home to west Ham and us at home to Bolton. It's four wins from four for the big boys for me. Arsenal will be able to revert to their all form line-up after having made nine changes to the team for the trip to seville, which I think should be enoguh to give the players the confidence to overcome Villa. Despite Boltons heroics last week, I think we'll be far too strong for them regardless of the team Rafa puts out (but as long as it includes Gerrard and Torres, and probably even if one of them doesn't play). Man Utd will eat Fulham for breakfast, particularly after they slipped up against Bolton last week, while I fancy Chelsea to win a tight game against West Ham. Arsenals looks the dodgiest, but i suspect they'll win by the odd goal.

Have to agree with that. A few out there might fancy Villa's chances against Arsenal (particularly with Fabregas out) but i expect them to win. I'm hoping that City might slip up though and then we can guarantee top 4 placing going into the next game.

I fancy us to beat Bolton 1-0. I don't see us rolling over them, Megson has got them back to playing typical Bolton football again. Fortunately they are missing Nolan, Hunt and guthrie is unable to play so Anelka really is the one to watch. I'd be happy for us to win plus Anelka have a great game if it meant Rafa signed him in January. Have been saying it for ages now but i would LOVE to have him back at the club and would happily swap him for any of our strikers (bar Torres of course).

Reina

Finnan  Carra     Hyypia     Riise

Gerrard   Mascherano   Sissoko   Kewell

              Torres    Crouch

Unfortunately unlike most I am still not happy with our options on the right, Benayoun, Babel, even Pennant when fit don't fill me with confidence. Gerrard is still our best option out wide, especially in games like this were a little more discipline is called for through the middle. Babel and Lucas to come on second half.

3 -0, no game against Bolton is ever easy, but we should have too much for them today.

The game's not until tomorrow mate :;):   Anyway, I'm expecting to see something like our strongest available lineup, seeing as we've had enough rest since the game against Porto and aren't playing midweek the following week. I also think that we shouldn't underestimate Bolton and their physical approach, but at the same time our game seems to be flowing at the moment, and we should have more than enough to overpower Bolton at Anfield. So I definitely think we'll win, but whether it becomes a small or a big win will depend on, how early we get that all important first goal, which Rafa always talks about! If we score early on, I can see us overroll them quite heavily, but the longer they go without conceding, the more they will keep believing in a draw (in that situation, I still think we would be able to win it by the odd late goal though). So all in all: a red win!
