Sure! But There are a few exceptions anyway. Sonny Andersson for instance...

Lyon has plenty of money, Lyon do not need money.
Lyon need players, great players whom salary they can afford...

Look at Keita...Thought we were going to sign him, paying a crazy price, and I have just heard that Tottenham was offering twice the pay...
Look at Cris and Tiago...Juve wants them cheap and is offering crazy salaries in order to set a mess, like it was done last year by Madrid with Diarra...

And in France, Lyon is said to plunder Ligue1 teams...And look how many french guys play in England...

No, honestly, it was a Chelski Price...
In Lyon, most of the fan believed that Essien was not worth that much money.
In our majority, we believed Djila Diarra was better, and Diarra was solded 28M€ (even if his year in Madrid is not great, the guy really worth the money...)

The market value of a player is how much clubs on the market are willing to pay for a player's services. The fact that Chelsea are part of that Market means that prices have become inflated, hence Lyon received the market value of Essien, i.e. what the market commands.

The wages is the problem.  Clubs from England, Spain and Italy can offer players in France so much more money and they leave.  Keita will be crazy to pick tottenham over Lyon though.  Tottenham have no CL football and probably wont for a long time.  I thought Keita wants to leave Lille as they didnt qualify for the CL.  L'OM should try and sign him to replace ribery.

Yoann Gourcuff is another young talented player who AC Milan got cos they could offer so much more money.  He didnt play much last season and didnt really need to move to Italy so young but they can offer so much more in wages.

I have to disagree with that. One buyer does not make the market price. Remove Chelsea from that equation and what do think he would have sold for? That would be a truer indication of market price.

Hopefullly, Keita is more intelligent than Ribery is...
Ribery should sign for Bayern although he did not wanted to go there...No CL, a ligue that is not much better than french one...
But so much money...All that glitter is gold...

Keita was in Quatar and we he came to Lille, he earned less money...

No, but one buyer can cause an inflation in the market price:

From Wikipedia:

"Market price is an economic concept with commonplace familiarity; it is the price that a good or service is offered at, or will fetch, in the marketplace"

That is to say, because Chelsea are in the market place Essien has "fetched" a price that would be considered inflated by most people's standards.

Therefore what Essien was sold for WAS his market price, the price at which the market determines his value. Chelsea don't solely make up the market, nor do we know how many other clubs were "interested" in signing Essien, it is just a case that Chelsea have superior spending power to the rest of the market therefore his market price was always likely to be higher.

I have seen Diarra for Real Madrid about 10 times this season and there is no way in the world he is in the same class as Essien.

Essien is a fantastic player and although it looked silly money at the time, with his age and ability to play well in various positions he was worth it imo.

Diarra looks extremley limited and Madrid were robbed imo.

I don't understand how you can disagree with that?

Essien's market price is what he sells for. If Bill gates came in with a 2bn pound bid and it was accepted - that would be his market price.

Because Chelsea were part of the market - a club with superior spending power - the price was inflated, nevertheless that price remains his market price/value.

The monetary value of a player is whatever clubs are willing to pay for them.

I watched the highlights of all the Euro games from the weekend last night. Malouda looked ok, Ribery looked quality, Nani looked f*cking amazing. I know they were only playing Belgium but he was superb. It depressed the f*ck out of me. :(

Yeah, but only with highlights, you do not see much...
Before a scored the first goal, he was awful...50 possession, and lost the ball 25 times...Oops...
And he does not defend...

I guess many players looked half what they are in Madrid...
Canavaro looked like an amateur against Carew...
Diarra is really really good...a Viera-Makélélé mix...

Taken from SSN, Drogba rates him

Didier Drogba says it would be a 'delight' to play alongside Lyon winger Florent Malouda at Chelsea.
The duo are friends from their time together at Guingamp and Drogba believes the France international could make an instant impact at Stamford Bridge.
"To play in England, he has the physical means to stand any kind of pressure and marking," he told France Football.
"I am convinced he would not need a very long time to adapt.
"Of course we would like to play together again. That would be a dream, because when you are a forward, playing beside such a player is a delight.
"I know we could find each other on the pitch with our eyes closed.
"If he wants to come to Chelsea, I am keen to go and get him all the way on foot myself, because I am aware what a man so decisive and altruistic could bring me."
Malouda has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool, but no official approach has yet been made.
