LIVERPOOL VS BORDEAUX PART II

I've heard that Smicer is still injured, but if he doesn't play, I hope he still travels over and is brought out either before the game or at half time.

I wanna see him, I'll be pi$$ed off if I don't.

Even if Gerrard and Momo are out of tomorrow night's game I would still see us winning comfortably. Bordeux showed sweet f* all a couple of weeks ago. We played pretty poorly and won. The game at Anfield should be a pretty easy one!

We all said that about Sheff Utd and look what happened? Bordeaux aren't the best side in the world and yes we should win comfortably, but it doesn't mean we will.

It will be good to see Pennant on the right, I think he could well do some damage on the right flank, Zenden doesn't fill me with confidence but he has looked vaguely better over the past week (well the Reading game).

I would expect us to only make two changes, which is  Pennant and Zenden for the injured Gerrard and Sissoko.

unforunately this season, gerrard seems to be back to his old habits of not being able to play more than three games in a row without getting injured. fortunately we shouldn't miss him tomorrow anyway. we won over in france without him a few weeks back and drew in psv without him for 70 minutes.

people should get of zenden's back. ok he's no world beater but he won't let anybody down in a game of this magnitude when we'll dominate possession. i just hope he scores a 25 yard screamer and makes bigmick's night complete. :D

Zenden is a good pro who, as stmike says, won't let anyone down. Maybe Rafa will go for it and play 4-3-3 tomorrow if we are missing Gerrard and Momo!

I have no doubts the team will be different, Rafa is hardly going to keep the same team IMO because of the win. I think he'll be inclined to rotate more so, too prove that the rotaion system doesnt fail our performances but it can also get us results. I think he really believes in his own methods, and maybe seem a little stubborn on the odd occassion so he's hardly going to prove ALL his critics out their right by keeping the same side.

Heres my stabb at the line-up:

                          Reina

             Finnan   Cara  Agger Aurelio

             Pennant  Alonso Zenden Gonzo

                          Bellamy  Crouch

I'll have to start rehearsing the answers to the inevitable "so how come that bloke ever got to play for Liverpool?" questions from my missus.

have a good night big mick,

Bordeaux will be without veteran defender Franck Jurietti for their Champions League date at Anfield on Tuesday.
Jurietti suffered an ankle injury playing for Les Girondins against Sedan at the weekend and is not in the party flying to Merseyside.

Stephane Dalmat is also out of the Liverpool clash having suffered a thigh injury, prompting coach Ricardo to add Vladimir Smicer and Marc Planus to his squad.

However, the former Kop star will feature only in an emergency.

would love smicer smicer to be there.. hear the reaction when he steps onto the anfield pitch again.

yeah i heard this on the news this morning or Radio 1. I haven't heard anything since though so not sure how accurate it is. Fingers crossed as i don't rate Zenden no matter how reliable people say he is.

Sky mentioned early this morning that they were doubtful for Tuesday , but didn't elaborate . Nothing more said since then , maybe they're OK after all .   :)

BBC says :-

Both captain Steven Gerrard and Mohamed Sissoko are minor doubts for the game with ankle problems, while Mark Gonzalez is still struggling.

Craig Bellamy (calf) and Fabio Aurelio (hamstring) are also doubtful.

If that's true, we're still more than capable of seeing off Bordeaux with Alonso/Zenden in the middle, in fact is that not the combo we fielded when we beat them away from home?

As long as those 2 are back for our next league game I'm not bothered to be honest.  Gonzalez and Aurelio probably wouldn't get a game at the moment anyway with Garcia and Riise coming back into some form and Bellamy being out isn't a disaster with our other 3 strikers all on the scoresheet in the last 2 games.  I think the squad's in pretty good shape for the Bordeaux game actually.

The Times is reporting that Stevie G and Momo are expected to be fit for tomorrows visit of Bordeaux.

Aurelio and Gonzo are also fit for the match.

Bellamy may be out with a calf strain.

We'll see who's fit for the match, if Gerrard and Momo are doubtful or even slightly injured, maybe it would be better for them to miss the match against Bordeaux just to prevent more injury, and we need them to get ourselves back in the race for the title :). I still think we'll do fine ! Afterall, we are playing at Anfield, and Anfield is our fortress !!
