Dirk kuyt...a done deal? - As above

latest on kuyt.

Feyenoord striker Dirk Kuyt appears to have secured a move to Liverpool and could be in the squad for next Saturday's match against Sheffield United.

A fee of approximately 10 million pounds has been agreed between Liverpool FC and Feyenoord leaving both clubs to now try and come to an agreement on how it would be structured.

Although the transfer window doesn't close until August 31st, Rafa has requested that the club pull out all the stops to get Kuyt on board as soon as possible.

There had been suggestions that Liverpool chief executive Rick Parry was going to try and hold out until the end of the the month to try and secure a better deal but Rafa would like the player to be available for selection against Sheffield United on the 19th August or the following match against West Ham United on the 26th.

The Dutch striker is in England for today's friendly between Reading and Feyenoord.

The 21 year old handed in a transfer request to the Nerazzurri just 3 days ago after Inter completed the signing of Argentinian Hernan Crespo from Chelsea, and has already attracted interest from Valencia,Liverpool, and Bayern Munich, however Martins has hinted that the Premiership would be his preferred destination.

Martins said " The Premiership is a great league and i have always said i want to play there at some point in my career. I will discuss with my agent tomorrow what will happen next as there have been a number of clubs in contact "

Inter have placed a £10 million price tag on a player rated as one of Africa's brightest young stars, and that has alerted Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez in particular.

At £10 million, he would fall just inside Liverpools transfer budget, and with Benitez seeking a striker capable of producing goals to push Liverpools title bid next season, Martins would fit the bill perfectly.

And with Liverpool mysteriously re-allocating Bolo Zendens squad number from 30 to 32, with 30 being the squad number Martins currently holds at the San Siro, speculation suggests a switch to Anfield could be in the offing for the young striker known as Obagoal.

Source : Some :censored: small footie site, but it makes for some interesting reading.  :;):

I mentioned him almost 6 months ago.

I think he has good ability but hes not consistent enough. You could say the same for him what a lot of people say about Torres.

Hes a scorer or great goals not a great goal scorer.

Do we really need another small striker who may have difficulties coping with the physical side of the premiership like Martins, especially while we have Garcia. While I am not a fan of Kuyt he does possess many qualities that COULD give him a better chance of a successful transition to the EPL. He is very hard working, and physically strong ( when he doesnt dive like a girl) Good in the air and a powerful rightfooted shot ( he will need to work on his left) Reasonable pace and supposedly of good character. Rarely misses a match and scores consistently in Holland. I dont think he will be a RVN but he wont fail like Kezman either. Of the two(Martins or Kuyt) I would prefer Kuyt as being the one with the greater chance of "making it".

Just as long as we sign a top striker! Some sources suggest that Paary is dragging his feet a little in the hope of getting a better deal nearer to the end of August. Rafa, on the other hand, wants action now!

By the way, nothing's wrong with Pongolle--he's fast and skilful. It just seems that for some reason or other he doesn't fit into Rafa's plans (not strong enough? Ged's man?)

I rate Pongo and would have liked to have seen him develop at LFC .But I'm beginning to think that Rafa wants to get rid of any player with a connection to Houllier .

Ihave been saying this for ages now...parry has been holding this club back for too long now...he should back rafa's plans and give him the funds he needs to get the player now....its about time parry moved with the times and stopped being a "cheap skate". The way things are going with all this dithering i wouldn't be surprised if another club comes in and snatches him from under our noses. ???

Hopefully we can bring Kuyt in, from all the talk I am exicted to see him in a red shirt. Bellamy and Kuyt sounds good to me with Pennant and Gonzo on the wings. Here's hoping this gets done this week and we can finally move on to the season

Go Reds!!

Hope the availability of Oba Martins doesn't get Rafa and Parry back tracking on Kuyt--could end up with nothing!

most of these reports on kuyt  is coming from koptalk...i dont believe anything coming from that site...the fact that kuyt is in england today might be a good thing... i would rather read from the daily mirror, or the independant, the times, more trust worthy sources, this deal will happen probably by next wednesday... and i will be verry happy...kuyt will give us a great chance to win the premiership   :;):
