Boo-hoo for Cisse, I'm sure the 40 grand a week will sweeten the blow of not playing every week, oh how I wish I had his problems.

I don't give a if he's annoyed at not playing, he's a paid professional and it's his job to give 100% on the pitch, which he hasn't been doing.

He needs to knuckle down and do his best until January.  If he gets chances to play he needs to take them, if not then it's tough, that's football.

Why wont he give Crouch/Cisse or Cisse/FSP a chance in 4-4-2.  The Cisse/FSP worked well in the pre-season warm-ups!

Ok, we all know Cisse doesn't act like a teamplayer all the time - when he looses possession, he acts like a spoilt child, and doesn't chance back to regain possession.

But until be is given a chance in a 442, over a couple of games, with proper support from preferably Crouch, we can't judge him

Like you say, 4-5-1 only ever works with dynamic wingers and attacking midfielders supporting the striker like comparisons between Chelsea and ourselves show. I'm all for using this formation if preferred by Rafa but as many have pointed out, it's foolish to play 4-5-1 with the players at our disposal. For the time being, adopting a second striker, preferably Cisse, is essential. For the longer term, two skilful, quick, touchline-hugging wingers with the ability to cross remain the key (when do we ever get behind the opposition?). Riise, Zenden, Garcia, Kewell and Pongolle are not the answer. Hopefully Gonzales can live up to his supposed potential if/when he arrives, while someone expensive like Simao/Joaquin is likely to be targeted for the right flank.

With Cisse massively out of favour, another striker looks certain to come in, though whether someone like Kuyt would be used as a lone striker or in a slightly deeper role next to Crouch (who I think has exceeded expectations with what he has contributed so far) is unclear. I would hope a deep lying striker, like Kuyt, would be used as opposed to an attacking midfielder like Garcia, who does little in defence and lacks enough of a regular goal threat - even though he has scored important goals for us. Though Kuyt, who seems to be Rafa's main forward target, isn't the quickest, two quick wingers should compensate.

well, he either HAS to get over it, psychologically as well as on the pitch...or fall foul of bemoaning his 'lot', upset everyone, and go! (at the moment he still has the fans) it'd be a dam shame if the lad isnt at least given a STAGE for these next 3 months to prove himself.

and judging (as only we can TRY to) by rafa benitez' single-mindedness in his procurement of crouch, in comparison with benitez' "supposed" mistrust of his inherited striker....the only way he will GET a chance is if his manager sees fit.. or there are injuries elsewhere. that may be his only 'hand' to deal...

take it cisse and use it well ( i repeat, monaco anyone?)

It's entirely up to yourself of course Red, and maybe it's just me but I find the USE of capital letters in a SEEMINGLY random fashion, somewhat DISTRACTING from  your otherwise interesting posts.

i think the trouble is bigmick.. its easier to emphasise words by doing just that.. when im posting, i imagine myself 'talking' to that person. articulating and highlighting in upper case is the best way to do that..when your typing?
i take your point lucidly on board however. although in the grand scheme of things.. im sure there are far more inflammatory subjects written within these pages to 'nit-pick' other than the correct useage of ....grammar

It wasn't intended as a nit-pick Red, it's not really my style to nit-pick as a rule. Having said that, I can see how you think it may have been so apologies if it got on your thruppenies, no harm meant.

ill say one thing though.. this forum spans a worldwide audience. and half of the participants in it ( with certain exceptions) do their level best to construct their posts both with clarity and legibility.. its as hard as 'we' joining a steaua bucharest forum and understanding the points being made. let alone the correct way of 'reading' them! albeit english is slightly more known to the world than romanian!  but, you get my meaning.
if we can dismiss their grammar (rightly) but, understand their contribution.. then that is fine in my book.. as i said no offence taken at all.. and now im aware of it, i can try to adjust.
