Josemi in the first half and sissoko in the 2nd only impressed 2day.Zenden a thought was awful when he came on...he kept coming inside when riise was in a good position wide.Garcia was ok when he came on much better than potter though.Finnan solid as ever and carson didnt rly hav much to do.ciise wasnt rly in the game and nando rly needs a few goals to improve his confidence.poor performance tonite

neil you've hit the nail on the head there, that's exactly what i was thinking tonight - that he just doesn't seem to care. tonight there was no anger or passion in his game, when he missed the target he barely shrugged. i'm not ready to call for his head just yet, but god knows he needs to get a bit of fire in his belly

Also a think tonite really showed again that we rly do need a right winger more than a striker right now.

We are definitely not playing well.  Rafa needs to inject some confidence into Moro.  Moro's supposed to be a good striker who can finish.  This isn't good at all.  I think Rafa should think about Owen more.

Complete rubbish. Not a brain cell between them. Sissoko the only decent player, and even at that he wasnt great.

Sissoko wasn't great tonight? Who the feck were you watching? He deserved a goal for his performance, gutted that he didn't score after that shot at the end.

I was watching the same sh*t as you. Yeah he was decent, but  not great.
"Great" is turning that shot off the bar into a goal.
"Great" is putting piercing through balls into your strikers.
None of that happened, from anybody for that matter.
No goals at home and we have 5 Strikers???

My thoughts:

Carson: didn't have much to do but did extremely well with what came at him. Their goal was almost impossible to save. An exciting prospect.

Finnan: reasonably sound defensively, but rarely got forward. When he did he looked lively, but looked tired at times tonight.

Warnock: an ok performance. Solid enough, but didn't really get forward and was conservative with his use of the ball.

Hyppia: played reasonably well, although went through a ten minute spell after they scored their goal where he and Josemi looked uneasy.

Josemi: middling enough. Had a shaky spell mid way through the first half where he was very square and flat alongside Hyppia, and made one rash challenge in midfield that led to a dangerous attack. Looked more comfortable in the second half. Good use of the ball but is prone to losing concentration.

Hamman: disappointing performance and looked off the pace.

Sissoko: yet another promising performance and I will go as far as saying that Momo is potentially a Liverpool legend in the making. Has it all: power, pace, energy, strength, decent on the ball. Looks a bit raw at times and will have disciplinary problems as he goes to ground easily, but he'll learn to control that. Our best player tonight.

Riise: threatened the opposition but looked a bit lax and complacent at times.

Potter: got a hell of a lot of the ball in the first half but does not have the ability or confidence to do anything threatening with it. I don't rate this player and he's not good enough for the first team.

Djbril Cisse: looked dangerous at the start and for a while he and Nando gelled, but was cast adrift in the second half and barely got a sniff.

Morientes: Not his worst game for Liverpool but rarely excited. Was guilty of over elaboration and does not look sharp enough at present to make the kind of impact he made at Monaco.

Subs:

Luis Garcia: made little impact when he came on. Messes and farts about too much. I don't really rate Garcia that highly as he is too much of a sloppy off the cuff footballer to my liking although he is a valuable squad member as he can contribute - occasionally - a moment of magic.

Bolo Zenden: did ok, and did some good things, but so far for Liverpool he has not put in a performance any better than Vladi Smicer. I think he's a useful squad player, however.

Pongolle: not on long enough to rate.
Jolly Bob Grumbine.

This was supposed to a game where it would be a comfortable victory for us and maybe our strikers can score a couple to raise confidence.

Instead, this was a terrible performance.

Our players need to WAKE UP!!!!!

I hate being pessimistic but the Prem. could be lost before November if this form continues.  If we struggle like this in upcoming matches then we'll fall behind the leaders and our confidence won't be there.  As for the CL, we can't perform well there, either.  Confidence is what we need and our strikers especially dont have any.  The season is off to a reasonable start, but I'm afraid our form will keep dipping.

Talk about getting totally shafted by Real Madrid twice last season first getting bloody nunez for Owen and now selling us Morientes without the goalscoring touch; it's like buying a prize dog for breeding and finding it's b*****ks have been lopped off; what was with that lame flick at the ball near the end after he had beaten the 2 defenders and the keeper, here i am thinking OK here's the real Morientes and then that happens.
Momo definately looks about the best buy we've made this summer, but even he was off the boil tonight. Do not worry though because I think we need to make room in the cabinet for a new little brother for old big ears 'cos all the omens are there again; Stevie G scoring the first 2 goals of the Euro campaign, getting beat in the final qualifying game, all we need now is for Ken & Diedre to get a divorce and then set a date for the wedding next MAy.:D
If there was a man of the match tonight it was probably MOMO followed by Jonnie Riise - but that is at a stretch.

Morientes didnt look to bad too me to be honest he showing signings. I know your all thinkin ' :censored: idoit' but he just looks like he needs a run of 5 games and if he picks up 1 or 2 consecuivly he could be amazing, that goes the same for cisse, they both look like they could be liverpool ledgends but just need to get going and step up a gear. Both have showed signs there great players IMO.

I really think with a good right winger the liverpool team could be very fluid and exciting this season. Im no optimist but there seems to be some good play although we will never live up to expectations of last season. I think it will be a let down compared to last but a all round bettter team in the league.

Both Morientes and Cisse have very little confidence at the moment, a goal would do them a great deal of good.

Got the job done overall, and we managed to rest some players. We need a right winger and Benitez has emphisized that a million times, whether it be Stelios or Solano, it would be better than what we have at the moment and what we have at the moment is nothing.

We might buy two centerbacks and I can see why. We have no real cover for the CB's, and whilst Hyypia wasn't poor today he certainly has past his best years of football.

FFS, people should read too much into this match as we were playing without 5 1st eleven players. Thats half a team ffs. I understand people criticising individual performances but things like we wont be able to challenge in the prem and all that are silly and premature.
