I have a better chance of winning the lottery than Owen joining Newcastle.

i know, but i was just stating that if (a big if) they did, it might be because of the relationship between shearer and owen.

I see big nose is still having a go !!

Was talking to my brother this morning  who along with my dad  and another of my brothers  are all loyal Liverpool supporters (the other brother is a scum supporter but i guess we all have a relative we dont like to mention   )

Anyhoo  he was telling me that he is a member of Koptalk.com .......ok ok i know its slated religously on here  but what he told me was pretty  interesting  about Owen.
According to another member of the website who is called  "The Insider"  Owen is to come back to Liverpool on loan for the year  (we pay his wages) and at the end of the coming season  we will buy him for 11million ...

Now i know there are all kinds of rumours floating around at the moment  and so why should this one be any different  or important than the others ?  well  "The Insider"  has been correct about all nine previous  transfers that he has said whould happen , thats a 100%  record on tranfers speculations being correct, also even more interesting the bloke when asked about his inside knowldge refuses to divulge or say who he is or where he is from ........

Maybe he really does have inside knowldge of wahts going on  and if as my kid brother said is correct about his exclusives about inside  going on is correct then it really does look like the prodigal son is coming home

Copied this into the rumour thread as well  .......just taking a leaf out of your book Jonny Mac , seems a good idea  :bowdown

From the Times:

I would make the same choice again
By Michael Owen
The striker is glad he moved to Spain despite his uncertain future

WHEN I SIGNED MY contract at Real Madrid last summer, I expected to be back in the Premiership in 2008 after completing my four years, knowing that I would only be 28 and hopefully with a number of good seasons ahead of me. As far as new signings at the Bernabéu are concerned, the move for Robinho had been spoken about for several months, although the arrival of Júlio Baptista was unexpected. Indeed, it was his signing that put in motion the chain of events reported by the media last week.
Real Madrid phoned my advisers last Sunday afternoon and made the point that the arrival of Robinho and Baptista made no difference to me — they wanted me to stay. However, they do have five strikers at the club and it is obvious that not everyone can play in every game.

Knowing the importance of World Cup finals year, they said that if there was a possible transfer that suited everyone, I had their permission to explore it, but there was no pressure to make any decision that did not suit me. This information was conveyed to a small group of clubs and we have until August 31 to see if anything happens.

Mentally, I am preparing for another season with Real and if I do find myself on the bench at the start of the season, I will do everything possible to force my way into the starting XI and I know I will be given a fair chance to do this. Those who know me are aware that I have a competitive edge and this is one challenge I am determined to win.

Regardless of what happens this summer, I would like to return to the Premiership one day. Already I feel that my time abroad has matured me and I believe that when I do return, it will be as a better player.

Inevitably, the World Cup is on my mind. I don’t want to make assumptions because England have not yet qualified, but if we do, we will have a great chance to make an impact. If we qualify, I know that the management team under Sven-Göran Eriksson will prepare us superbly for the tournament — his attention to detail is meticulous. I read last week that he tried to buy me a few years ago when he was the coach at Lazio. I heard a rumour at the time that something was going on, but I never did hear anything official.

The transfer window will close in three weeks’ time and then I will know where I will be playing my football next season. I look back on the past year with a lot of good memories. People ask me if I was disappointed that Liverpool won the European Cup while Real Madrid won nothing. I was delighted for Liverpool — especially for the fans and my many friends there. But if I had to make the decision again, I would still have chosen Real. It is an experience that has developed me as a player and as a person. I have enjoyed learning from new training regimes and watching some of the world’s best players at close quarters.

I’ve had my challenges along the way — yet with three different coaches, I started on the bench and eventually ended up in the team, so I must have been doing something right. Statistically, last season was successful — 16 goals in 26 starts. I’m told that it worked out as a goal every 146 minutes with 35 per cent of my scoring chances ending in the net.

I would like to have started more games, although I tried hard never to show my true feelings because, in the modern game, you have to understand the importance of a strong squad.

For now, I am assuming that I will be starting next season with Real — but if not, I want to be ready for any challenge that lies ahead. I am in Austria enjoying a punishing pre-season fitness program

The Barcodes are having a go

BBC Sport:

Magpies hold Owen talks with Real
Newcastle have confirmed they have contacted Real Madrid with a view to signing striker Michael Owen.

The Magpies have been strongly linked with the 25-year-old England striker and chairman Freddy Shepherd says initial talks have taken place.

"We've had a discussion with Madrid but we won't be commenting further on any speculation," Shepherd told the club's official website. Owen's future at Real is in doubt after Real signed Robinho and Julio Baptista.

Newcastle are desperate to sign a striker but their attempts to land Owen may be hindered by the fact they are not involved in European competition this season.

The Magpies have lost Patrick Kluivert and Craig Bellamy from their attack and have had an offer for Fenerbahce forward Nicolas Anelka rejected.

Manchester United have also be linked with Owen and can offer him Champions League football.

But the player's former club Liverpool have played down their interest in bringing him back to Anfield while Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has stated signing a striker is not his priority

Reds join Toon in Owen race

Real Madrid have revealed Manchester United and Newcastle have expressed an interest in signing England striker Michael Owen.

Club spokesman Antonio Garcia Ferreras has revealed that both clubs are keen to bring the player back to England after one season with Real.

"Newcastle are very interested in Owen. They are following him closely and are showing the most concrete interest," he said.

"However there are other sides showing an interest, including Manchester United."

Newcastle declared their interest in bringing Owen to St James' Park earlier in the day.

Magpies chairman Freddy Shepherd told the club's official website: "We have had a discussion with Madrid but won't be commenting further on any speculation."

And Arsenal may yet enter the race for his signature after losing out to Real on Julio Baptista and seeing his troops slip to defeat by arch rivals Chelsea in the Community Shield.

Owen, through his advisors SFX, said last week that there had been "brief dialogue" with three or four top-flight clubs with a view to one of those teams bringing him back to England after one season in Spain.

The possible stumbling block for Newcastle is they cannot offer him European football leading up to the World Cup finals.

The 25-year-old insists he is happy to stay at the Bernabeu until the end of his contract in 2008, despite his first-team chances having diminished still further with the summer signings of forwards Robinho and Baptista.

Owen revealed the signing of Baptista "put in motion" the process of his advisors looking into the possibility of a move back to England at the start of a World Cup season.

He added: "Knowing the importance of World Cup finals year, [Real] said that if there was a possible transfer that suited everyone, I had their permission to explore it, but there was no pressure to make any decision that did not suit me.

"This information was conveyed to a small group of clubs and we have until August 31 to see if anything happens.

"Mentally, I am preparing for another season with Real and if I do find myself on the bench at the start of the season, I will do everything possible to force my way into the starting XI and I know I will be given a fair chance to do this."

Owen, who scored 16 goals in 26 starts for Madrid, declared: "I look back on the past year with a lot of good memories.

"People ask me if I was disappointed that Liverpool won the European Cup while Real Madrid won nothing. I was delighted for Liverpool - especially for the fans and my many friends there.

"But if I had to make the decision again, I would still have chosen Real. It is an experience that has developed me as a player and as a person.

With all the talk in the last 24 hours about MO i can honestly see Own re joining Liverpool. And it would be such a moral boost to everyone at the club as well as the supporters. I think a strike force containing Cisse, morientes,Owen and Crouch is as good as anything Arsenal, United or even Chelsea for that matter can put out. And im sure Rick Parry will be mor than willing to fork out the fund should he want to. Everyon is forgetting that we may have signed a big handful of players but they didnt cost a lot. I mean have we singed anyone goign inot double figures yet? The last one was Xavi Alonso.
My new blog for my upcoming holiday.

i agree with bav. with owen we would have a STRONG forward line, we already have possibly the best midfield (swp) would have made that a FACT. but the players we have in midfield ARE good enough.
that leaves defence, where we ARE strong currently. its just that injuries/number of games make it FRAGILE to say the least in terms of cover.
my dream if im allowed to....... would be owen coming back and 1 or 2 ESTABLISHED defenders joining up.
right side can wait (for now) im sure rafa will either recruit someone this summer, or definately in january, what im saying is there is less of a panic for r.m. than c.b.

but with baros probably going, crouch injured up to a month/suspended etc. and le tallec loaned out. that only leaves sinama pongolle and garcia/kewell? as cover up front.
so IMO we need owen.

:)
