I was in a bar in Madrid the other day when Michael Owen came up to me and said " I wanna take you home and make mad passionate love to you all night".

I said "Blimey. You're a little forward aren't you?!"

Maybe when Flo returns to full fitness he'll play a lot bigger part this season,as someone mentioned before I'm looking forward to seeing a Flo/Crouch partnership! :D :D

you might be right about rafa not wanting owen back but to put flo ahead of cisse i think your completely out of order  to say your looking forward to the flo/crouch partnership means this is your ideal paring  not that i dont rate flo, but to put him ahead of cisse  i have to say give your self a slap on the neck...?

Matrix, the point I made about a Flo/Crouch partnership was slightly tongue in cheek,i.e Flo being about a foot shorter, that's what I meant about seeing them togeher! :)

There's no doubt that Cisse's going to be the main striker this season and after his horrific injury I'm genuinely hope that this season goes really well for him,but what I'm saying is if Rafa dosen't want Owen back then maybe he'll give Flo a run in the team at some stage?

If Baros does go then personally I'd like to see Owen back (Cisse,Nando,Crouch,Owen,Flo - some forward line) but as Rafa's already said we're in desperate need of a centre back+right winger and as the old saying goes,in Rafa we trust...

ok gracias king rafa, i understand the tounge in cheek   and im with you in owen coming back but i just dont see a way it can happen  as you know we have many matches this season and every striker will get his chance with so many games to play  and im backing crouch to do a job for us his strenth in the air will be important for us  last of all about flo it will be great to see him back after that bad injury he is the kind of player to totaly change a game with his skill and pace  lets see what happens in the coming weeks- arrivals centre back, right winger, another striker if baros goes  i wonder who  ?

Right guys n gals, just thought i'd share the wealth of knowledge that I have accrued today....

I personally have been told today from an ex-LIVERPOOL player that MO is due to sign at the weekend. A work collegue has also been advised by a current PREMIERSHIP player to whom he is a close friend of that this is also the case.

Sorry the second one sounds very News of the World - however I do know that the friendship is genuine and their is no cause to lie as my collegue approached me with the info.
Please don't confuse this info with my own opinion - I personally don't want him to sign. Just spreading the wealth... :)

i dunno mate, talksport were convinced he was signing for liverpool the other day but in the echo the same night was a statement from lfc distancing themselves from any rumours concerning a possible return for michael owen. the article basically went along the lines of we`ve heard all the rumours that owen is coming back but they are untrue, and liverpool fc is more than happy with the strikers they`ve got at the moment.
lfc and the echo seem to have a good relationship and i couldnt see lfc feeding the echo a load of cr@p to be honest.
maybe its liverpool playing games with madrid trying to get the price down or something, who knows?
if i was a betting man i`d say it wasnt going to happen. thats what my instinct tells me anyway.

I am posting this in both the rumour thread and the Owen thread.  I feel this news is relevant enough to post in both threads but maybe not to start a new topic about it.

My brother actually works with Michael Owen’s brother; Andy Owen.  For those of you who don’t believe me, bo!!ocks to you, it’s the truth.  Firstly, I’m not the type of poster to come on here and sensationalise any kind of sh!te, and secondly, I trust my brother and the people he works with enough to know they don’t smell of bullsh!t.

Okay, this is what our kid told me last night, and for effect, I got him to tell me again about ten minutes back.

Going back to the beginning, the Gerrard saga a couple of weeks back.  Gerrard has supposedly made it clear to Benitez that he doesn’t want to see players of Owen’s calibre leaving Anfield like the way Owen was allowed to leave.  Gerrard was pretty adamant about this in his negotiations which my personal opinion is that I don’t believe that he should have any kind of say on whom Rafa brings in or not.  He is only a player (admittedly, WHAT A PLAYER!!!!), but he is not the manager.  But Gerrard has made it clear he expects major players to arrive at Liverpool and we are never to become a feeder club to the cream of the Elite clubs.  Gerrard sees us in the Elite group and let’s face it, as European Champions, he has got a point.

Owen has been receiving phone calls, text messages, whatever from Gerrard and (especially) Carragher asking him to come back.  The word coming back from Owens brother is that Michael indeed does want to come back and play for Liverpool once again.

The problem is Milan Baros.  Michael Owen has made it clear to Liverpool that he wants to come back, but as we all know, at this current moment in time, Benitez doesn’t need Owen.  I mean how many strikers have we got at the moment?  Benitez is predictably playing this situation very, very coolly.  If and when we get rid of Milan Baros, then and only then will we even think about making a move for Owen.  And Owen knows this.

Andy Owen has also said that should Owen come back, he is willing to waive any kind of signing-on fee to get the deal done as quickly as possible.

And also, the rumours about Manchester United are true.  If everything breaks down, and there doesn’t appear to be a way of signing Owen, he will go to Manchester United.  Owen fuc*ing hates them apparently, but he will play for them “for a job”.

You’ve got to think about this logically and if I may be allowed to quote from RAWK, the great Paul Tomkins describes it perfectly.

I'm sure he doesn't want to upset the feelings of Liverpool supporters, but he's not going to torpedo his own career to stop us feeling miffed, and I for one wouldn't expect him to.

It will be ‘just a job’ if he goes there, but I would say that given the information above, the ball is definitely in our court.  He would come back to us in a shot.  But you’re wrong if you think Owen wouldn’t join Manchester United even though it is a last resort for him.

The above is probably nothing you don’t know already, but when it comes from Michael Owens own brother, I think it’s worthy of a type-up.

If anyone disagrees, don’t shoot the messenger.

gerrards a case, the way owen was allowed to leave?
what can you do if you have a contract under his nose for twelve months but he flatly refuses to sign?
there was another rumour that owen was preparing to sit it out with madrid until christmas, maybe this is to give liverpool time to offload baros? in a world cup year that would be a risky stragedy for michael, especially if a move at christmas doesnt come off and he spends the whole season on the bench.

This post of Johns sounds perfectly reasonable to me. All the things rack up but just one thing troubles me. I'm all for getting the best deal possible in all circumstances, not getting fecked over and all that but sometimes you've got to take a hit in strange circumstances. It seems we want 7 mill for Baros and a couple of teams are prepared to pay 6 mill. It seems Owen would be about 11 mill which for his age and ability would still be cheap. Baros's contract is up before too much longer and also he's in the middle of one of those occasional periods where he actually looks like a player so feck it, flog him to Villa or whatever for 6, and pay the 11 for Owen.
What we've got to be careful of in my view is holding out on the Baros deal too long, his value goes down and in the meantime as Saha is injured Manure sneak in and take Owen. Like the topic title says, bite the bullit and bring him home. We've made our point.

Ta fellas, I'll keep you posted if our kid gets any more info. :)

By the way, a one-liner about Andy Owen.  You could close your eyes and listen to him talk apparently and he's got EXACTLY the same voice as Michael Owen, that dull and deep monotone, obviously the same accent, the lot.

Except his sentences are littered with swearwords.  It'd be like listening to the clean-cut, boy-next-door swearing his head off!!!  You can't imagine it can you? :D  :D
