Can we finish 4th - Everton and bolton

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I think if we hold our nerve and get 11 or 12 points in our last games we will do it. I can't see Bolton or Everton getting those points. My main worry is ourselves, rather than the others. If we do the business on the pitch we should be ok, but we need to do the business on the pitch before we start worrying about other teams' results.

unfortunately, with our dismal away form, i can't see us winning at both portsmouth and palace, even though we should win both.

forget everton, it's bolton we should worry about now. everton won't beat manure, will get beat at highbury, and probably at the reebok on the last day aswell.

if we miss out on 4th, we only have ourselves to blame. :(

v Portsmouth (away)- This is a much harder fixture than people think. They are very hard to beat at home. But I have a feeling we will play well. A draw is likely, though I wouldn’t rule out a victory.

v Crystal Palace (away) - They’re fighting for their lives. If we can control Johnson’s pace then we should have too much quality.

v Boro (home)- This game is after our 1st leg against Chelsea, but they have a lot of key injuries, if we focus we should be able to pick up three points.

v Arsenal (away)- They have got the key players back, and they will be fighting for second place and pride. Will be tough, hard to call.

v Aston Villa (home)- I think it will be decided on the last day of the season. We will have to win this game and hope for the right result (which we don’t know yet)in the Bolton vs Everton game.

Big Sam is getting a bit cocky in the papers lately and it could be a case of pride before a fall.

That said, we need to sort ourselves out first before worrying about the others.

For the first time this season, however, I am beginning to believe that we can win the Champions League, although that is going to be a tall order. I can see us squeezing past Chelsea before going down to AC Milan (who will beat PSV).

That said, last year Monaco and Porto got to the final....imagine what would happen if Liverpool and PSV got there? It could happen.

Yeah i know, what a to$$er

Sounds like the accusation that his side plays sh#t football is getting to big sam. Last year everyone was praising Okocha etc, but now they are hoofing the ball up, ala Wimbledon. Maybe he should spend a couple of weeks with other managers, such as Benitez and Mourinho and learn the difference between long ball and long passing, and why one is sh#te and the other is skill.

agreed, no doubt Bolton and Everton will both drop points, but for us to take 4th place were gonna have to go on the kind of run that we havnt produced all season. We will probably need to win 4 from 5 but i have a feeling that the return of Alonso and Cisse will give the squad the boost it needs to get the final Champions League spot, and maybe jsut maybe bring home the Cup as well.

I really have no idea whether we will get 4th, i think that Everton and Bolton will drop a few points but i am not convinced that we can win 4 out of 5 unless a settled side is put out.

Play that side the last few games as long as no injuries and i think we would do it.

it makes sense to put out a settled side for the remaining games - IF everyone is staying fresh. but i would definitely swap warnock for traore in that line-up. he's impressed me a lot and has that fire inside him that we're going to need to get maximum points out of our remaining games.

Big Sam does get on the nerves at times but what a manager. You can't argue with results and Big Sam, Moyes and Mourinho have to be the best managers of the year with something to spare.

domestically I would agree that they have been the best, but in Europe Rafa is manager of the season, with Guus Hiddink a close second.

Everton

EVERTON - Manchester U.  (lose)
EVERTON - Birmingham  (win)
Fulham - EVERTON  (win)
EVERTON - Newcastle (draw)
Arsenal - EVERTON (lose)
Bolton - EVERTON (draw)

= 62 points

Bolton

Aston Villa - BOLTON (draw)
BOLTON - Chelsea (lose)
Portsmouth - BOLTON (win)
BOLTON - Everton  (draw)

=58 points

Liverpool

Portsmouth - LIVERPOOL (draw)
Crystal Palace - LIVERPOOL (win)
LIVERPOOL - Middlesbrough (win)
Arsenal - LIVERPOOL (lose)
LIVERPOOL - Aston Villa  (win)

= 61 points

Thats my honest opinion. I feel we need a big game at Arsenal or favours off Birmingham or Fulham to get forth. Its still possible but i think Everton are clear favourites coz they only need one favour off CP, Middlesborough, or Villa.

we owe saints big style for taking points off bolton last night. by the end of tonight we could be lying 4th although the blue sh#te would have a game in hand.
