Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby only me » Sun Dec 22, 2013 8:26 am

Mignolet - 6 ,ok game not much work to do.
Johnson - 4 ,really settles for the casual passenger role. Time on the bench would do him service.
Skrtel - 5 ,recently Martin returns to his brutal boneheaded ways ,got away with penalties. Why Torre isn't playing instead of Martin is a mystery to me.
Sahko - 7 ,Excellent game ,strong ,calm and accurate.
Flannagan - 6 ,good game ,some nice runs and almost another goal. He is a tidy player.
Lucas - 5 ,not really sure what he offered today.
Allen - 7 ,very active and mobile ,the MF with him is much more dynamic ,still need to calm nerves.
Henderson - 8 ,Great Performance ,to his usual work ethic added some sublime passes and touches. Consistency is the issue with the lad.
Sterling - 6 ,scored ,was active with the ball but his decision making on the last touch/kick is really poor  ,in his position MUST score more.
Coutinho - 7 ,did everything OK ,was missing on the final product (goal or assist)
Suarez - 9 - Boring.

Subs:

Kelly - Not sure if has anything to offer to the team going forward.

I'm going to be lazy here because I agree with nearly every word of your ratings. Agree about Johnson to a degree but I'm not sure who I would play in his place and in fairness switching him to the left didn't help his game. Before the switch he was linking very well with Sterling. I'd be a bit more generous with those two. Sterling 7 and Johnson 6.

Mignolet - 6 - good first half save but needs to command his area more
Johnson - 5 - provided good width and played well with Sterling but far too many mistakes to get a good rating
Skrtel - 7 - questionable approach when he defended the crosses that could have costed us but he did his job so...
Sakho - 8 - beast
Flanagan - 7 - shouldn't have came off. Should have been Johnson instead
Lucas - 7 - had a bit of work to do and did well
Allen - 6 - mostly average with a lot of frustrating moments. Expected better honestly
Henderson - 8 - best player out of the human beings on the field
Sterling - 7
Coutinho - 7
Suarez - 9 - definitely not human this guy! There's no other explanation

Subs:
Kelly - 5 - glad to see him get some game time
Agger - 6

Skertel - 6, Sailing dangerously close to leaving the field and rendering the reds bereft of a defender with some blatant holding.
Flanno - 8, I thought the kid was exceptional today, and used every opportunity to push forward to support the attack.
Lucas - 8, In the second half Lucas was forced to drop deeper and sit in front of our back four, where he constantly battled a fired up Cardiff team.
Allen - 7, A decent display ,but tired significantly in the second half.
Henderson -9, Linked everything and passed the ball quickly and intelligently ,the pass that split the Cardiff defence and led to the goal was sublime.
Coutinho - 8, Starting to play with a renewed vigour ,and this performance sees him well on his way to regaining the form that had us all collectively drooling.
Sterling - 8 ,Some of the balls he whipped in were exceptional, and the pace he used to tear past Cardiff's back line time and time again was phenomenal.
Suarez- 10, His application and passion for this game is unsurpassed ,and his outrageous talent at times stills the breath in my throat.

Agger-6  I thought he brought an added touch of composure to our midfield when he was introduced for Coutz
Kelly -5  Ridiculously out of position for Cardiff's goal ,but he was introduced under baffling circumstances.

Rodgers 8/10 Strange decision to rest Flanagan and reshuffle our back line ,because it handed the impetus firmly back to Cardiff, but nevertheless
a fantastic dominant and cohesive performance ,with the players once again playing the type of football they were bought for.

Johnson - 5 Poor

Cissokho - 5.5 or 6 - didn't do much wrong, just not good enough, caught out of position a lot
Lucas - 6 nothing special
Allen - 6 did ok, pressed well
Henderson - 7 good game, not so much authority today but did well
Coutinho - 7 okay game, gave him a 7 because of his goal
Sterling - 7 another good game from Sterling, missed a sitter though
Suarez - 7 good game, all the chances we created came from him.

Mignolet - 5 - it happens to everyone but he sure picked a bad game for it to happen
Johnson - 5 - same as last time, far too many mistakes. Frustrating player
Skrtel - 6 - one minute he was fantastic and the other he was horrible
Sakho - 6 - OK overall but I really don't know what he was thinking with those mistakes
Cissokho - 5 - I actually thought he would be far worse than he was
Lucas - 6 - broke up play a few times but overall he couldn't cope with City's midfield
Allen - 6 - had a bad game until some 10 minutes into the second half when he improved
Henderson - 7 - had a few good moments but a few bad ones as well. Did OK but City's midfield was just too superior
Coutinho - 7 - I think he was average but get's a 7 because of the goal. NEEDS TO WORK ON HIS f*cking SHOOTING
Sterling - 7 - bad miss but good game overall
Suarez - 7 - he was pretty tightly marked so he couldn't do much but he did all he could

Subs:
Moses - 4
Aspas - 4

Mignolet - 5 oh dear, his flapping had the pigeons flying overhead jealous.
Johnson - 4 I'm not sure whether he's just plain idle or just deathly slow.
Skrtel - 8 I thought some of his interceptions were just class.
Sakho - 7 Had a moment didn't he ? but before his stray passing he looked like the CB position in this team was his.
Cissokho - 5 The first 10 minutes he was targeted by Navas ,but after that I thought he made a good recovery ,and at times provided a useful outlet.
Lucas - 6 Decent but showed his tiredness and was subsequently withdrawn .
Allen - 8 Best game in a reds shirt since his debut ,his energy and relentless and chasing threatened a City midfield that have never looked so ill at ease.
Henderson - 7 Off the pace today ,but he has done some serious work of late .
Coutinho - 7 Brilliant and  frustrating in equal measure .
Sterling - 8 My man of the match ,his movement and all round play is slowly starting to look more accomplished with every game he plays.
Suarez - 8 At times he was forced to do it all on his own ,kicked off the park today ,and was never going to get a decision from the appalling Lee Mason.

Moses  Meh
Aspas  in concordance with his frustration at being afforded so little time on the pitch.

In summation ,that display has given those who believed we would be disposed of with the same ease City have dispensed with the other pretenders
food for thought in exactly how far we can go this season .

Mignolet - 5  Looked nervous and gave away a weak, weak goal
Johnson - 5 Doesn't look fit me - carrying an injury?
Skrtel - 6 he REALLY needs to learn to stop pulling shirts during corners and free kicks. we're going to get stung soon with a penalty
Sakho - 6 Solid first half, went to pieces in the second.
Cissokho - 5- Wasn't as bad as I feared, but still isn't good enough for premier league side.
Lucas -  7 did ok
Allen - 7 did ok too, pressed well
Henderson - 8 had a good game, ran the field and tried to make things happen
Coutinho - 7 disappointed with him today, but he scored a goal so can't discredit him for that
Sterling - 7 Ran lots, pressed the ball and should have had 2 or 3 goals. Needs to work on his finishing.
Suarez - 7 good as usual, but got frustrated towards the end and who could blame him

Moses 4
Aspas  0

All in all, we did ok and deserved a draw. I think the reaction of the city fans at full time told of their relief to beat us, which shows how far we've come in 12 months.

Mignolet - 4 - A not so shocking goal to concede from a keeper who makes a meal out of simple saves.
Johnson - 5 - Usual self, disgrace on the ball as always and missed a sitter that my nan would have buried.
Skrtel - 4 - Cost us the game with pathetic defending. Two shocking pieces of defending.
Sakho - 7 - Had a dodgy ten minutes where he decided to pass to City, apart from that looked good again.
Cissokho - 6 - Best game in a red shirt, didn't do alot wrong.
Lucas -  6 - Much better performance from him today. Average.
Allen - 7 - Pressed well and passed well. Got into good positions, should have scored one as well. Battled well.
Henderson - 7 - Good energy and good forward running, needs to find more end product. Was a bit greedy.
Coutinho - 7 - Found it hard to get into the game but played well generally, makes us tick.
Sterling - 7 - Can't quite believe I'm watching the same player, movement was excellent, robbed of a goal but should have scored. Missed a sitter.
Suarez - 7 - Booted from pillar to post, usual classy self and created loads of space for others, just a shame the others aren't half as good.

Moses - F*CK OFF BACK WHERE YOU CAME FROM YOU WASTER!!!!!  :veryangry
Aspas - MEH!

Rodgers - 6 - Thought we played well, the decision to replace Coutinho with that f*cking dopey useless pile of turd however, was baffling. For that, he needs a slap!

Mignolet 5 - Reina last season now Mig makes a blunder, costly.
Johnson 5 - Gone well off the boil as of late.
Skertel 6 - Made three excellent sliding tackles/blocks but defending, or attacking the ball at set-pieces isn't his forte, lost out to Kompany for their goal.
Sahko 6 - Couple of rash moments with the ball at his feet, other than that he did okay. He should have picked up Kompany from the corners.
Cissoko 6 - A person masquerading as a footballer.
Lucas 7 - Pretty solid.
Henderson 7 - supported the forwards well, and tracked back good engine.
Allen 7 -  Harried and pressed really well, neat and tidy in possession.
Coutinho 8 - Had a good game.
Suarez 8 - Not in the game as much as he has been in recent weeks (credit to Citeh) but still was a threat and a menace.
Sterling 8 - Another very good game from young Raheem, should have scored really but his allround performance was very good (again).
Champions of England 2020.
