And so far it's all talk - just like last summer

The club can talk about signing Messi - means f*ck all until it happens

Toure seems to think he has been bought as a first teamer ?

has Toure told you that personally?

transfer window still open, BR probably has other things that need sorting that could have a bearing on everything that happens between now and the new season, namely mr suarez.

Toure told everyone when he released to the press that he was here for first team and not just a squad

BR has also said that its a LB and attacker that we need not a CB !

I think Toure is right, I think Rodgers preferred pairing will be Agger and Toure. He hasn't had much to do preseason yet but his touch, control and passing from the back was flawless against Melbourne. Not much to crow about I know but I good start.

Do you really feel confident going into the season with him as first choice ? A guy discarded by a team above us because he has been poor since his drugs ban ?

If he is first choice then fully expect the same problems we had last season

Toure is experienced and a good backup, but i'd prefer skrtel over him.

Isnt this supposed to be the Luis Alberto thread though?

Skrtel is a good defender but he doesn't seem capable of playing the way Rodgers wants him to.  He was didn't look comfortable passing the ball out from the back last season and he is unable to play a higher line... probably because his decision making isn't great.  He also doesn't offer much leadership.

While I wouldn't be overly excited about Toure being first choice CB, I think he'd fit into our system better than Skrtel.

That said, I'm still really hopeful that we'll sign a CB better than anyone currently at the club.

I think Kolo may bring some leadership qualities to the back line which is as much needed as ability per se.

The problem is BR wants a high defensive line with fullbacks high up the pitch supporting the attackers - it leaves the CB exposed to pace and balls over the top. BR also prefers his CB's to be comfortable on the ball and be willing to join in the forward play.

The one area that doesn't seem to concern BR is the actual defending part - especially to balls coming in from crosses or balls played up to a CF - we have zero dominance in the air and unable to handle big strikers. Toure isn't going to solve those issues.

I really doubt that Toure is going to solve anything actually. Way past his best. Good enough only for a back-up. I'll be very displeased if we don't improve on the CB position.

I read somewhere we're still interested in Papadapadopolous but then again Rodgers has implied different too. So, who knows.

I do think Kolo will bring some kind of order to a defense that found itself at 6's and 7's last season, whether that's enough time will tell.

I like the cut of his jib ,and I'm going to stick my neck out and say he will be a classy addition to the team.

While he has been captain for Arsenal/city i'm not so sure about his leadership qualities. If i remember right from his best years at Arsenal it was not really Kolo that organized the defense, but Sol Campbell. Kolo was never the most disciplined of defenders.
