They give me the opinion they are stingy b#stards because I have no doubt they can easily fund Brendan with that kind of money if they want to and  they are stupid football owners as well.  They believe a lot in investing in the youth and moving up them up the ranks instead of spending heavily. Well, the Raheem Sterling contract which up to now he hasn't signed yet, looks like will blow up in front of their face if Sterling doesn't want to sign but instead go to City or manure. Again, all thanks to FSG.

Like I said before, don't think the most of the 120 million that Kenny wasted on average players were from them. Most of that sum came from the sale of outgoing players, particularly from the sale of Torres. The net spend from them was not more than 50 million that summer.

To me, FSG so far has done nothing to be worthy Liverpool owners. But I still hope they will prove me wrong in the long run.

So they have had 3 transfer windows and spent over 150 million which works out to an average of 50 million per window and you have seen no evidence they will back Rodgers. The fact you go to Goal.com for your sources is questionable.

If they laid out 20 million on one player or another 50 million on the quality of Downing and Carroll i know which one id be more happy with. Arsenals supposed 50 million will NOT strengthen them there not going to buy Ronaldo or Messi or Falcao. Could blow 10+ million on Huntelaar but WILL lose Walcott.

Brendan concedes duo need a rest

Brendan Rodgers has accepted that several members of his first-team squad may need a rest in the weeks to come – as the manager ponders how to help his players both mentally and physically.
The Reds slipped to a 3-1 home defeat against Aston Villa on Saturday, ending a run of three consecutive victories which had catapulted Rodgers' side back into top-four contention.
With a crammed fixture list during the Christmas period, the Northern Irishman will take a close look at his options - with some players requiring more of a break than others.

"This was a game where we had to get an early goal and make Villa come out. We had a wee bit of lethargy," said the boss.

"I don't know why because it's one of the first weeks we've had without a midweek game, and we couldn't have had a better week.

"I think there is an element of [fatigue] but not with Luis [Suarez]. He's at his best when he is playing regular.

"He will tell you himself, if he was playing one game a week he would lose his rhythm - he likes to play lots of games. But I think there are others we need to give a break."

The manager explained that 18-year-old Raheem Sterling and summer signing Joe Allen - who have played 25 and 23 games respectively - are leading contenders for downtime.

Brendan's Villa verdict

Rodgers added: "There is no doubt Raheem is one who does need that breather.

"I've thought about it over the past couple of weeks. In order to do that you need to have that depth to take him out and put somebody else in.

"That's something I'm thinking about - who to put in. He's a naturally very, very fit boy but he needs that mental rest as well.

"For the kid, it's about efficiency as well, tactically he's still very young. That time will come and he will get the breather soon enough.

"There is no doubt after working with Joe and seeing him, he's another one. If we're honest, there are a few who could do with that breather, especially mentally. It's something for sure I need to have a wee look at."

that's what happens when you let players of the calibre of maxi, bellamy and kuyt go due to their age and wages and then don't replace them.

i agree that it's baffling that assaidi hasn't been used more.

Thoe 3 players wanted to move on, there is nothign Brandan could have done to stop it.

The only thing which puzzles me is why Downing gets to pull on a red jersey. Henderson might have a glimmer of potential but I'd prefer other players to play ratehr than him. I can only assume he thought that Villa would be easy, I think we all did, and therefor put Downing and Henderson in the shop window for January.

Overall I'm happy with Brendan but he has soem big decisions to make over Reina and Stevie G. In my opinion he shuld play Shelvey in Stevie's position and play Brad Jones instead of Reina.

henderson was excellent against wigan when he came on, was arguably man of the match against udinese and set up the winner against west ham. i rate the kid but it's quite clearly obvious that some fans will never rate him because he's fundamentally solid and not particularly flashy. on form he deserves a run ahead of allen if anything.

downing was our best player on saturday but that's hardly saying a lot. he's been told he can go and nobody will care if he does go to be fair. we'll be lucky to get £7m for him now though.

To be honest I didn't see any of the match on Saturday, not even MOTD, I'm not keen on horror shows  :lookaround .
I think Henderson has potential but he has never stood out for me, kind of how I used to view Lucas. I was proved wrong on Lucas and I hope I am on Henderson as well but I kind of doubt it. Downing though is a bloody disgrace of a footballer, he seems disinterested half the time and the other half he is like Bambi on ice and just seems utterly clueless.

I'm still positive about Liverpool getting 4th, but we have to strengthen in January and Brendan has to take some brave decisions regarding Gerrard and Reina, if he doesn't then he will fall in my estimation.

Cazorla banging them in for fun at the moment.

This is exactly what is wrong with our club lads.

This "British is best" mentality needs to be dead and buried. There are quality players out there if we actually get our scouting network to do its bl**dy job!

I will be f**King livid if Rodgers brings in more local overprices rubbish such as Walcott and Sturridge.  :no

Our results are excrutiatingly painful. The lads on the field bear no resemblance to any Liverpool team in the last 40 years, they're toothless.

Other teams are in similar situations or with poorer squads, Villa, West Brom, Norwich etc.. but above us in the league. Why are our new lads no better than Norwich or West Brom?

We have no choice but to watch and wait but its like when redundancy notices are being handed out and you're cr@pping yourself, you want to commit but all the time you're losing faith.

I back the owners, I back the manager its just the 11 lads on the field I don't feel comfortable with.

Its part of his job that he has to talk to the press.  I havent got a problem with what he is saying and dont thin he sounds like a "loon"!
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

Brendan Rodgers latest statement:

"I want to apologise for getting it so wrong last week. After listening to some of our own fans on radio, tv and the internet I feel I have to be honest and say there will be no more talk of top 2, 3 or even 4 finishes this season. I believe we will scrape a finish in the top 10 and with a miracle top 8. This is only because Im a cr@p manager and we have cr@p players. I tried my best to inspire and excite them and the supporters but only ended up looking like a complete ti't. This wont happen again and from now on its doom and gloom round here and no aspirations whatsoever. I only hope those supporters forgive me and are now happy that Im telling the truth. By the way everyone, dont worry if we dont win another game this season, its only expected because we're that sh'ite"

Oooh bit harsh that
