apart from suarez all our strikers are youngsters, borini is 21 (and has barely played 50 pro games), sterling is 17 (has had 1 start in terms of league fixtures) and morgan is 18 (and has played 1 europa league game)
suarez is going to have to do what graeme souness did in the early 80`s when paisley surrounded him with young midfielders (ronnie whelan, sammy lee and craig johnston), souness led from the front (and actually took us to the title)

In fairness lakes, I havent seen enough of him to form an opinion.  My point was towards Kopite-Jud who said we havent signed a striker. Well, we have.

I disagree, I think most of the hard work has been accomplished, getting rid of the deadwood. It may not feel like it at the minute, but I think we have a lot to look forward to. Seeing Ossaidi and Sahin in action for one.

Lets not be so negative, a lot of work has been done, and is in progress. When it all clicks, we will be fine.

I meant we have not signed a striker on deadline day ....    :glare:

"I need a minimum of three strikers. Once the window shuts, that is it until January. I have got (Luis) Suarez, Fabio Borini and Andy Carroll," he told reporters.
"I would need to be a nutcase even to consider at this moment to let Carroll go out, unless there are other solutions for that."

We have let Carroll go and not brought in any "solutions" is what i was referring to . . . .

Oh I see, my mistake. I still dont think its as bad. Its a good chance for the youngsters to stake a claim. We have been in a worse position before, at one point, all we had was Torres, and he started to suck !

If Brendan walked i wouldnt blame him.

Kenny made it an incredibly hard task for whoever took over the mess he left behind. He almost single handedly crippled the club financially with the worst transfer splurge in the club's history, and with the owners badly burned tbis has reesulted in them being ultra careful with money meaning Brendan has got zero chance of bringing in who he needs. He has to sell to buy, and unfortunately no one wants to buy the players we want to offload.

I said at the start Brendan had a massive job, but it looks like mission impossible.

rodgers isnt soft, with all the league, league cup and europa league group stage fixtures coming up before christmas he knew he needed more than 3 recognised strikers.
he hasnt even got that now, he`s got one recognised striker in suarez and an inexperienced youngster in borini who`s played 2 prem games in his entire career. it`s not even worth mentioning morgan, he`s nowhere near ready.
when he drove out of melwood at tea time earlier today he probably f**ked off home with a cob on, when he realised that it was unlikely that sturridge and dempsey were coming he must have been gutted.

see on twiter they are saying that at 8am on the 31st liverpool where in talks with 8 clubs over buying players from them.

we ended up with none.

I think we should be told what happened, was it the players turning us down? their clubs asking too much? our owners not letting RB to match the asking price?

or all the above.
I dont buy that stuff being said that Rodgers is not a big enough named manager to make them wish to come here or that they now see Liverpool as a small club.........well i f*cking hope its not true anyway.

Well, we'll never know what is going on behind the scenes, but BR was clear he didn't want a DOF above him. I guess that means that it was his decision to let Carroll leave because he believed that:

1. We didn't need him
2. We were guaranteed to be able to replace him.

Well, he was wrong on both counts. I don't see that it is anyone's fault but his.

Of course, if we needed to cut the wage bill and that was the best way to do it (in his opinion) then perhaps his hands were tied, but I don't buy that. He knows we need another striker, and he failed to bring one in. Surely his list was longer than just Dempsey and Sturridge.

I hope we use this as an opportunity to blood youngsters rather than bringing some has been in on loan - he'll be able to get away with that in a year of transition, and if we really are that skint we'll need our youngsters to step up to the plate.
