How may points from our first four games (knowing the difficulty of 2,3 & 4) would you consider to be a positive start?

Yep, it was only (no disrespect meant to Gomel) no more than a pub time, however, I have not witnessed us playing with such freedom for a long time and there seemed to be near telepathic connections when the ball was laid off on many occasions.

Totally agree lets not get carried away but I for one feel more optimistic going into the new season than I did a matter of days ago.

:nod

Well i saw us play like that numeorus times last season withoout putting the ball in the fecking net.

No idea what we can call a good start - I think 6-7 points from the first 4 would be a decent start.

Very long way to go yet.

Sorry but b0ll0cks, we never played like that last season, we were completely one-dimensional and predictable last season. Brendan has brought a completely new level to Liverpool already and we are actually playing exciting football again, and yes I know it's just preseason but Gommel And Bayer Leverkusen are not exactly ***** teams yet we still ran rings round them.

bring on the season, I can't wait, I think we we'll be in the chase for 4th this season, I really do. And yes as long as we continue playing attractive football and keep improving I will give Brendan plenty of time becuase it will take more than 1-2 season before we can challenge for the title but in Shelvey and Sterling we have 2 fatastic talents wo will be worth £30 million plus in a few years time.

You really are a fickle ***** - it's good to see you are willing to give him time - I give it until Xmas until you are back on here demanding he is sacked and replaced by Kenny.

You are the worst kind of "fan" going.

BR tactics and philosophy are very positive ,he insists on quick pass and move which for me is the right way for a winning team.
Thing Missing ,players and more players ,We are very orgenized squad ,disciplined ,moving the routes and making the passes ,however we are missing that one-two creative imaginative players which can dribble ,overcome the defender and make the smart deep pass for goal...The Xabi's ,Silvas of the world...It's a must bringing such a player for us to beat the PL best.

But So far so Good.

What's happened to Clint Dempsey?

Defence        Johnson Skrtel Agger Enrique Kelly Carragher and Coates.
Midfield        Gerrard Allen Henderson Lucas Shelvey
Wide/Attack  Suarez Carroll Downing Borini

Quite happy with the options there.

Question marks about Adam if he is good enough and Sterling does he need a loan spell. I hope there are more signings to come. Maybe Ramirez, Walcott, Dempsey.

Also i reckon we need cover at left back. Jack Robinsons okay but think we need a stronger cover.

in an emergency we could always move johnson over to left back and bring kelly in on the right hand side. we`ve done it once or twice before (moving johnson to left back) and it worked quite well i seem to remember. infact it worked so well it sparked discussions wether johnson was better as a left back.

Perhaps I was being a little pessimistic. Would like Clint Dempsey to arrive here, though. And you didn't mention Joe Cole. Wondering whether he will be in Brendan's plans.

Joe Cole is a strange one for me. At chelsea he was great down their left side as he got older lost pace he prefers to play in the middle.

With Gerrard Henderson and Shelvey all in the squad already i wouldnt sacrafice any of those for Cole. He is on extreme wages to just be sitting on the bench. Id let him go free up the wage bill

one thing i will praise rodgers for is our work rate, i know it`s only pre season but i think our work rate has definately been `upped` considerably.
people often forget that in our halcyon days we were the fittest team in the country and the hardest working team in the country, opposition players, managers and t.v commentators etc often used to remark about how we seemed to have 13 or 14 players on the pitch.
i think over time we have lost that work ethic a bit, there`s no way these days that i`d describe us as the fittest or hardest working team in the country anymore, maybe subconciously a few of our players have stepped on the pitch in recent years thinking that they are better than the opposition and their superior ability will win the day but one of the oldest and most true adage`s in the english game is that at the very least you`ve got to match the opposition in terms of work rate, determination and aggression before your superior ability will make the difference.
any side thats prepared to be outworked is going to struggle to achieve anything in english footy.
i think rodgers understands that.

I agree about the work rate being upped. We are chasing down harder and trying to win it much quicker.

Sterling is going to be fantastic. Shelvey, not a massive fan of but maybe a decent squaddie. Joe Cole though is long past his sell by date. Actually think he was a bit overrated even in his peak. 'Looked' good but was never consistently great.

I actually agree. I thought Joe Cole could be an asset this season however after the last two friendlies and the opportunity shown to Sterling, I think Joe Cole will be surplus to requirements. At best a bench option.
