i dont think he`ll go, i think he`ll get an improved contract from liverpool.
thats both our centre halves being linked with other clubs now, we need to get back into the CL sharpish if we want to keep hold of our best players.

Would the new CB be able to strike up an understanding with the other defenders quickly, and make all the other adaptations to the league, the change of club, lifestyle etc. needed to be a success? That's what's got to be asked. Given that the backline is the one area of the team that's relatively settled, I wouldn't want to see it broken up in this way unless the size of the fee really was too good to turn down.

This is such a terribly philosophy that you're endorsing Benny. We've been down in the dumps due to such philosophy for far too long for you and others to have learnt otherwise. We sold Alonso for 30 million pounds. Surely that would be enough to find a world class replacement for our midfield maestro? Well, here we are, 3 seasons down the line, no where close to having filled that spot properly, and already having spent 17+16+10 on midfielders to fill that role. 3 seasons and more than 30 million pounds! I don't think we can confidently say that we've replaced Torres either.
And what are we going to do here? Sell Skrtel for 20 million, and hope that we get a perfect fit in Howdes for 10, who'll probably cost more, but anyway, and then if he doesn't fit in we'll go for another 10 million worth of a player who may be the answer but we'd have wasted 2 more years and no real gain. The OBVIOUS approach to team building, for challenging, is to keep your best players, realize that to you, their worth is much more than their market worth, and add a quality player who you can have for at least a year to be sure that you can send away your best player and know that this new lad will fill in the boots for sure. This isn't football manager after all.

he recently had a good season under Kenny and suddenly we need to match his ambitions?
wtf is this?

Would love Skrtel to stay, but if he wants out then f**k him. We need everyone pulling in the same direction next season and can't afford any passengers who are more concerned about getting their next payday

according to the paper there are 3 irreplaceables at anfield that the club will move heaven and earth to keep and skrtel isnt one of them (suarez, agger, reina).
i`m a bit torn on this one, i can see the logic in letting him go and ferguson has done this quite a few times like when he moved ince on when he was one of the top centre mids in the country because he knew he had scholes coming through the ranks but on the other hand i`m a big believer in if something is not broke why try and fix it, at the moment our centre half partnership of agger and skrtel was one of the few area`s of the team that wasnt broken.
the key here is how much faith the club have in kelly and coates and apparently the club think they are the real deal, the club thinks that within a year or two they`d have a big decision to make anyway because kelly and coates at 23/24/25 would be too good to sit on the bench and they`d have to sell someone anyway.
personally i`d stick with skrtel, we really need to get into the CL next season and it`s not the time to start experimenting with our CB pairing.
