You're a fan with biased opinions while he's a player with ambitions, perhaps it's to lead the country into Euro 2012. As one of the names being mentioned with regards to who the new captain might be, surely a journalist would have asked Gerrard for his thoughts on the matter. In order to improve his chances of being captain, it would make perfect sense to say something polite. Besides, as a player he probably saw things differently at training and has a opinion which doesn't match yours. Furthermore, IF he did share the same sentiments with you and echoed it to the press, he would be slaughtered by them and after all the negative attention we've been receiving this season, that's the last thing we need.

Anyway, your attitude on Boxscarf a few pages back kinda surprised me RBG. I think what he was really trying to say is that he's thankful he's unable to watch the match because IF we did lose, he would be tormented, like us all. I honestly doubt he meant to say he doesn't wanna watch the match because we ARE going to lose. Everyone's nervous as well, and are entitled to their unique manners of expressing themselves. Just like how you're entitled to hating Roy even while he was managing us.

I grew to loathe the face rubber Maypax ,but as my first posts on the man will attest to I was willing
to give him time to settle in ,but the odious old cunt went and publicly undermined SOS protests
against our abhorrent owners.

So that was seen as the proverbial straw that broke the camels back mate , no way back for jovial Uncle
Woy ........As for my comments on Boxtart ,the blurt makes my teeth positively itch .

Stevie was poor yesterday ,it certainly wasn't a Captains performance by any stretch of the imagination .
He dropped that far back he left Suarez completely isolated ,for the best part of an hour the game past
Gerrard completely by .... I think Agger should be given the armband in future given his commanding
displays this season .

Felt for Stevie yesterday.... gone are the days when he had Alonso and Mascherano behind him meaning he could stay forward.. instead behind him were the pint sized championship/league one player Spearing and average personified Henderson. The lack of quality in midfield meant Stevie had to drop back deep and help out, which he has been forced to do for 3 years now since Alonso left us.

Stevie is still a world class player, his display against Everton at Anfield was nigh on perfection..., but now more than ever before he is being handicapped by the garbage around him.

We have a relegation material central midfield.. Spearing, Shelvey, Henderson.. its what you would see in a Blackpool line up. Obscene.

Our excellent goalkeeper, defence, touches of individual brilliance from Gerrard and Suarez is what has ensured we have got the 49pts to ensure we didn't get dragged into a relegation scrap.

excellent goalkeeper? he himself felt the need to apologise to the fans in fridays echo for his performances this season and right on cue a day after his apology he left us with another uphill task yesterday by letting in a shot i reckon i could have saved myself.
reina is a top keeper but he hasnt been this season, to mention him as one of the reasons why we have gained so many points is ludicrous.

Its because we keep playing him way too deep. He should not be back with the defenders. If we plan on using him in the same way next season we should sell him instead as he isnt worth the money we pay when we use him like this.

He is forced to come deep, we wouldn't get a kick if he didn't. Take a look at who we have in the middle... (2 from 3) Spearing, Henderson, Shelvey... if Stevie stayed in his position just off Suarez, he wouldn't get two touches of the ball all game. We no longer have Alonso, Mascherano, McAllister, Hamann, Redknapp...or even Danny Murphy.. in central midfield which would allow Gerrard to stay forward.. instead we have the least talented group in over 50 years (pre Shankly).

Our central midfield is w**k.

i agree the midfield isnt great at the moment but it`s nowhere near as bad as you are trying to make out.
a pairing of gerrard and lucas would give our 90`s midfields a run for their money and shelvey is 19/20 and henderson is 21, how can you judge or even write players off at that age? they are nowhere near the finished article and at that age no one should expect them to be.

I might get slated for saying this but am I the only one who thinks we're a lot more balanced when he isn't in the team?
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

Been saying it for yonks mate! Many of the other players are intimidated by his presence and feel duty bound to ensure that everything goes through SG. That was great when he was on top of his game but unfortunately that has not been the case for quite a while now.

Its no coincidence the team seems less disjointed and far less apprehensive when  Gerrard is missing ...
Its also no coincidence that some of our worst and most hapless performances this season have occurred
when Gerrard was in the middle of our midfield .

It would be interesting to know how many games we have lost when Gerrard has been selected for the
midfield berth . I have often stated on this forum that Gerrards best position is on the wing ,so maybe
its high time he was deployed there ?

Its not a popular opinion ,but I honestly don't see Stevie having the energy needed to be an integral part
of our future midfield .

I mean even that great man Paisley knew when the legend that was Emlyn Hughes time in midfield had
run its course ,and what a revelation that was given the understanding that evolved between him and
Phil Thompson in central defence .

If Madrid or Chelsea came in with £15m/£20m for SG would you take it?

Mascherano has found a new position as centre back with Barca. Is it realistic to think Gerrard could play alongside Skrtel with Agger at left back? He's never been frightened of a tackle and he could be very useful coming out of defence.

While I'm at it what about Kelly as permanent right back and Johnson moved into midfield.

Could this win us the title next season?

He's pretty much said he won't retire from International football after the Euro's... and feels is body is in great shape.
Think he's a bit deluded  :D
