And from then on, he had to battle his own clubs supporters as well as other clubs. He was never given a chance, and the pressure on him was immense. When he won a game, nothing was said, but the supporters, rather than show support and give him the benefit of the doubt, just sat eagerly awaiting our next defeat, or draw, ready to pounce.
Anfield has always had the most electric and passionate supporters, as the most ardent fans are ready to stick by Kenny Dalglish, many of those supporters showed nothing of the qualities which makes the fans great when it came to Roy Hodgson. I said it back then, and I still believe it to this day. The major f*ck up Roy made was replacing Rafa.
Roy never stood a chance.

Did Hodgson get backing from the fans the day he signed?
Kenny on the otherhand was given more funds than any manager in our history, more fan backing than any manager in our history (its how he got the job, he wouldn't have been considered at any other club). We have gone from 58pts last season, spent a fortune, and finished with 52pts this season.
You have to factor in both of those variables when comparing the two managers, and once you have done that is there no question Hodgson has done better with what he had at his disposal than Kenny. Kenny has spent 110 million and man for man has made us weaker. Name another manager who has done this.
Hes a club legend and therefore many wont utter a word against him, hes revered. Take yourself out of the emotional attachment for a second. That mans position is under the microscope right now for a reason.
Must i repeat myself ! Read the above response to Kharhaz for the FACTS about the apointment of Roy Feckin Hodgson !

More tripe !
I'm sorry Kharhaz but your missing the point here.
Hodgson should never have been appointed to the role. He was a stooge put in place by Hicks and Gilet to deflect any criticism away from them at a time when they were looking to sell the club at a huge personal profit to themselves ! Read "42 months with a Pair of Cowboys" by Brian Reade for the REAL reason Roy Hodgson was appointed instead of speculating about the fanbase not getting behind Roy Hodgson !
I go to games ona regular basis and i didn't hear this

GET A GRIP OF YOURSELF MAN ! Liverpool Fans "Rejoiced" after seeing a manager sacked ? I don't know where you get this stuff from ?
Will "Liverpool Fans" like D_C and yourself "Rejoice" when Kenny leaves ?![]()
More and more with Football thgese days, fans are more interested in being "right" than being "loyal" !

If we let KK get even half a season more, it just means another poor season. No point of changing the manager in the middle of the season. If KK is still in charge, obviously no management would trust KK with the spending. So, he will refuse to play the new players and kept on playing the flops regardless of the result. On the other hand if he is in charge of the players acquisition, chances are the money will go down the drain. Therefore, the only choice is to install a new manager and then get the players that suit his tactics. Otherwise we will be stuck with a bunch of players not good for the new system. FSG will not jeopardize another season with blind faith just because he is Kenny. Let's put it this way, if we have the same players but put a Morinhno in charge, don't you all think the season would be as bad? This just shows a manager can make a difference. Changing a manager for the sake of changing will not achieve anything. I would agree to the change if FSG can get a world class top notch manager.
Mourinho would only come if he had 200M to spend and wages of 13M+ a year.
He might have a bit of temporary success then leave.
He's also a disgraceful human being.

And then he had the audacity to have a go at the fans for protesting against the two clowns who owned the club. His every word mocked our club and it's standing and he consistently conceded to other managers that their club was superior. He even called Northampton "mightily difficult opposition" before we played them in the Cup. He defiled the football game as we know it at this club and couldn't give a toss that it wasn't how it was done here and hadn't been for 50 years. His decisions were so wrong under pressure that he ended up hideously embarrassing himself and the club. Just read some of his press conferences.

great. so we're linked with a guy who escapes relegation by the skin of his teeth every year. another manager who gets linked to other jobs as soon as his side have a run of decent results. i actually like martinez and the wasy his teams try and play football but is this really the standard of manager we should be looking at? it was the same on here a while back when bolton had a few decent results and all of a sudden people were advoocating owen coyle when rafa went. now look at him.
Wasn't Redknapp also a manager who used to escape relegation by the skin of his teeth each year, seems to be doing ok at Spurs though.![]()
Seriosuly good young managers have to start somewhere and I like the look of Martinez and Ilike his style of football and ability to motivate his players, plus he'd be cheaper than a top notch CL manager.
Dalglish returned to Merseyside on Tuesday after a whistle-stop visit to Boston, Massachusetts. He remained in his post after talks with principal owner John Henry and chairman Tom Werner, but there is no guarantee he will be in charge of team affairs at the start of next season.
