@anfieldonline: We've heard from exceptional sources that Gerrard's new contract is till 2016. When he will be 36. Deffo a one club player.

@anfieldonline: Includes option of 20% of contract pay after playing contract for taking up a role as ambassador/coaching role for the club.

I'd be thrilled if he played with us until 2016. I know he's getting old and having injury problems, but after Euro this summer he has to be done with England, and he's shown he can continually dominate games against top premier sides. No reason he can't play until then.

Plenty argument .

Ask the question to people who dont remember Kenny playing and they will answer Gerrard - ask it to people who do remember Kenny playin and he majority will say Kenny .

In every poll I always see on the OS and forums Kenny always win . That tells you there is an argument against Gerrard being the new Liverpool player ever .

People always remember things to be better than they really were. Take that absolutely cr.ap holiday twenty years ago and suddenly you actually start remembering the good bits! That is not to say that I'm not a massive fan of Kenny because I am. It is just a very difficult and almost impossible comparison. The pace of the game now is considerably faster and with a huge influx of top world and European players the standards are much higher.

They are both phenomenal examples of quality high level professional footballers and I will simply remember them that way.For me Istanbul May 2005 was a demonstration of Gerrard's talent and leadership and for that reason I will sit quite comfortably on the fence.They are both brilliant in their own right.

Kenny Dalglish was my hero when I was growing up. He was an absolute genius. Gerrard is brilliant but an entirely different type of player and personality to the king. Its a generational thing I guess. An older generation claim nobody compares to Billy Liddell, my generation remember the exploits of Dalglish with affection while the kids don't see beyond Gerrard.

Gerrard's a titan of a player that's for sure. Can't compare whether Gerrard is better or Kenny is better cause I've never seen Kenny play.

I must admit sometimes I underestimate the impact Gerrard makes to the game... but boy we missed him the past 6 months or so.

Gerrard is unlucky not to have won the league so far. I believe that if Owen didn't leave we could've won the league during Rafa's reign. And also if Alonso and Torres didn't leave. But one can say that Gerrard almost single-handedly won us the Champions League final...

It's absolutely comical that some on here last season were writing off Gerrard as past it.

He's probably scored more in his handful of games over the last year than Carroll has managed.

i remember writing something along those lines but without quite saying he's past it. stevie still obviously has loads to offer the club, and the rise in quality when he is on the pitch is clear as daylight. what i still say though, is that the barnstorming days are surely behind him as are the days when he will take a game by the scruff of the next and win it almost single handed.

delighted to see him back on the field and obviously loving it though.

Almost single handedly won it but didn't - Garica Hyypia and Alonso were massive players during the Knock out stages against Bayer and Juve . Gerrard missed one of those games and was quiet in a few others .

Yes we wouldn't of won it without and his impact in the final was crucial but Didi's impact was just as crucial .

This single handedly winning the CL thing is a bit ridiculous and very unfair on the rest of the team. Everyone from Hamann - carra - hypia - biscan - traore played their part. And probably most importantly, the work of Rafa Benitez.
