Babel: Why I love life at LFC
18th Dec 2010 - Latest News

Ryan Babel has reiterated his desire to remain at Liverpool for years to come and admits he still has much to prove at Anfield.

By his own admission, the Dutch star has been frustrated at various stages of his three-and-a-half years with the Reds but revealed he is working hard to raise his level under the guidance of Roy Hodgson.

Babel said: "I have one more year at the end of this season left on my contract and I would like to stay.

"It has been frustrating here as a player, but it's not changed my loyalty towards the club. The club is fantastic.

"The club is amazing and there are still a lot of fans who believe in me so that gives me a goal. They [Hodgson and Benitez] are different. The current manager does things differently, and maybe that suits me better.

"When he arrived he was closer with the team, talking to players, and maybe that gives the players a boost to respond better.

"He's more involved day to day with the players. He does things differently. Under Rafa the assistant managers took a lot of responsibility but that is different now.

"I hope this country hasn't seen the best of me yet. The maximum number of games I've played in a row is four and it's difficult for any player to find consistency if you're not playing every week."

Under Hodgson Babel has featured predominantly in a central striking role after being utilised as a winger in his first few seasons in L4.

He admits he has always favoured playing as an out-and-out frontman and hopes to make the most of any chances that come his way.

He said: "I think first of all I'm just enjoying the opportunity to play and I am trying to make the most of it.

"But that position [central] suits me a bit better because you can use most of your energy up front. Maybe on the wing you have to defend a bit more and maybe that suits me less.

"The striker role, together with someone else, is pretty good for me."

So in summation Ryan still firmly believes he has a career at Liverpool ...unless that is ,he is asked to play a role with any form of defending involved .....good speech Lad that will sell you to the fans ...... and I thought his stupidity was exaggerated ,when in reality he doesn't really have to try  ....he only has to  just open his mouth and out it comes ......... sad really  :D

It'd be great if our crack new medical team could transplant Pacheco's brain into Babel's head for a couple of years til Dani fills out a bit.  We have the technology.

dont wanna restart the age old arguament, but as soon as we signed him and he was played out of position and treated the way he was, no wonder he lost his ability. Lets hope we get a decent price for him!
