Babel was dumb to do it in such a public domain.
He really is not the brightest bulb in the bunch.

The F.A had a choice, Babel apologized in the end, and what happened to something called sense of humor? did the F.A ask Howard Webb if it offended him in any way? do you think Webb gives two :censored: if people started posting pictures of him with a Manc top? Did Babel in anyway call him a c*nt or a tw@t or any abuse? No he did not, the picture was just a light hear ted humor and I think Webb is bigger than that to see it as any offense, I'm sure he giggled when he heard about it.

Players can't even voice their opinion, if John Terry has done this he would have got nothing but a warning from the F.A.

Sorry mate.... In this we have to disagree.

As andy had said in an earlier post, if the FA doesn't take action, it would be open season for all the refs.

I personally don't think that we should measure ourselves using the same yardstick as how others choose to conduct themselves.....

While your anology is true, remember what happened to Anders Fisk and the Chelsea fiasco? The reaction on here was unanimously indignant and IMO, rightly so.

I do agree that Kenny made the right move by defending the lad..... it'll help us if the players know that their boss will defend them in public. In private though, I hope he gives young Ryan a right bollocking.

There is a difference between this and the Andre Fisk fiasco though mate, Andre Fisk got death letters and got abused from some of the Chelsea players/ staff etc... Webb didn't, Babel just posted some funny pictures on twitter that he took from various sites, I can't understand whats wrong with that?

While I agree with the notion that Refs need protection and all that,  a sensible thing to do  in Babel's scenario is a warning for not letting it go out of hand the next time and keep his calm. If Babel did indeed called him a ''c*nt'' or said ''I wish he dies'' in public and all that talk, then yes I will agree that the F.A should impose a ban or fine him for such words.  But to charge him on something really silly and light hear ted humor is OTT IMO.

So Babel gets charged for basically forwarding a joke on twitter.

Walcott gets nothing for coming out and admitting he tried to cheat and con a ref to win a game.  Sweet. ???

Pretty much the gist of how I feel regarding the matter

Even someone from the PFA was defending him. I like how Kenny said it was just a joke, now we move on. I really don't see the point in charging him. I think our club should just ban our players from using such sites, simples
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

Its an overreaction from the FA imo... Trying to set an example with the whole players expressing themselves through social networks and thinking they can get away with it.. I would think it would be reduced to a warning or a 1match ban at most on appeal... One thing he has going for him is that he didnt take credit for creating the picture, only forwarded something that someone else posted..

A fine line between humor and disrespect when it comes to such things.. You'd expect players at such a level to know a little better... Was silly from him and it's a shame he gets a ban at this time with him finally showing signs of improvement and this 2 or 3 game period probably being his best chance for impressing the new manager and challenging for a spot in the side...

A bit of a daft thing to do but an overreaction from the FA nonetheless, IMO. The picture was nothing more than a mild and momentary p!sstake in the heat of the moment after a huge game, and not a genuine or sustained assault on Howard Webb's integrity. He apologised and I think that would have sufficed.

The Professional Footballers Association is to punish Liverpool’s Ryan Babel for bringing the professional ranks into disrepute after he posted a picture on the Internet of something other than his genitals.

Babel was rebuked for posting a photo of Howard Webb MBE controversially photoshopped to show him wearing an impartial referees uniform, much the to amusement of his thousands of Twitter followers.

A PFA spokesperson told us, “We can’t condone this type of behaviour. Our members have spent years developing an online reputation which could be ruined if players continue to post things that are merely ‘funny’.”

“We actively encourage the sending of x-rated photos to a plethora of fame-hungry skanks, but the moment you post a ‘joke’ we’ll prosecute you with the full force of the ridiculous rules we have in place.”

“I mean, that photo is rubbish anyway, the referee uniform on Howard Webb has clearly been drawn in by an imbecile.”

Babel’s fellow footballers have come to his defence, pointing out that it is first indiscretion, and insisting that they’ve all been tempted to post a joke from time to time.

Chelsea’s Ashley Cole said, “This one time, I had a belter of a gag about Princess Diana, but thankfully I came to my senses before I posted it, and instead sent a perfectly acceptable photo of my ball-sack to someone I met at Chinawhite.”

Babel has apologised to fans for his lapse in judgement, and promised to adhere more closely to the footballer stereotype in future.

He added on his Twitter account, “I’m sorry, it won’t happen again. In the meantime, here’s a close up of my glistening banjo string.”

feck off.

Webb is overrated and was sh!te the other day.
Babel might have been a waste of space so far for us but at least showed a bit of passion and that the defeat hurt him.

I was joking by the way
But on a serious note the cynic in me wonders why Babel all of a sudden is hurt by a defeat so much that he is willing to be punished for it?
Has it got anything to do with a new manager and the fans anger at Webb?

he was the same ref who did not sent off de jong for his karate kick on alonso's chest during the world cup final.

the karate kick made gerrard's tackle looks like kids tussleing in the playground.

the match is rigged from the start.
