TAKEOVER COMPLETE - H & G Finally Jibbed!

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Number 9 » Fri Oct 15, 2010 6:43 pm

Amazing day for our great club!! :buttrock

H and G have been dumped and humiliated in the process...plus the small matter of loosing £150 million too..Well you two kunts I hope it hurts like hell!!

NESV are making all the right noises add you'd expect but they have a lot to prove over the near future.
I don't think it's a coincidence that Gollum Moyes has been spouting off saying he would consider a groundshare on the day we get new owners! :no Lets hope a groundshare is not their first major change....i doubt they are that daft though.

It's a happy day but after the last 3 years we'd be daft to trust these guys from the start...they will need to earn the fans trust by doing the right things, talk is nothing.

At least we can't get bitten as hard financially which is one assurance, any dept is theirs not LFCs

Thanks for now NESV and good luck...we are watching!

WTF...

They are killers arnt they, they say they want the best for the club then sue us for 1.6 billion dollars

We all knew they were kuntz, but did anyone really believe that they would show themselves to be as kunty as they have done in the last week or so? I can't believe that people of that age and business success (cos they had money once lol  :D) didn't have the nouse to call it quits.

I have never in my life seen such a public display of lack of class and general all round kuntyness. What a f!*kin rotter.

I can't wait for the full details of the total collapse of these 2 guys. Given the way they were playing everything off against each other, this has to be the pyramid toppling now in a spectacular way.

Hopefully Rafa gets in with his book before they do  :D

Did I mention they've been kuntz?   :D

hi buddy, thats true?
link?

SSN have reported it mate - the lawsuit has definatly been dropped . Seems advised by Dallas courts not to pursue matter any further as they won't get a result in their favour and they would incur massive court costs . Seems the Dallas judge is extremely unhappy with the way they disclosed information the other day

One small step for Grabbo....
One massive leap for English Football.

Hopefully the FA will rewrite the ownership rules now and fall in with UEFA creating a solid set of financial regulations that will both keep the sharks out and stop debt being built up, dumped on club balance sheets and owners raping their clubs in terms of bogus loans, interest charges and the likes of 60 million non-existant stadium charges.

Many thanks 'Grabbo lad'.

As a long time fan of both LFC and Boston Red Sox, I can say that this is the best owner in baseball. Red Sox fans love him, and so will LFC fans!

I read what he said. It is "so" John Henry to talk about "greatness for the long time" and "winning above all".
He turned the Red Sox from the "cursed" team, that never won the world series since 1918, into a team that won twice since the 2002 takeover (2004 & 2007). The Red Sox had an "off" year this season due to tons of injuries but will be back in 2011.

John Henry is buying Liverpool the try and do the same "turnaround" once again. He will not quit until we'll be a top team again (meaning to be a contender each and every year).

You can believe me. it IS a happy day for us all.

Thanks for that Mgabby.. really good to hear form a fellow fan.. guess we are all part of the 'same family' .. ay.. shall we call you our 'cousin' from across the atlantic  :D

More importantly - the current Red Sox ownership took an old, dilapidated dump of a ballpark - Fenway park, built in 1912 - and turned it into a place that people actually want to go to now.  They made gradual changes, keeping with the theme of the oldest ballpark in America...all very tastefully done.  And they gradually increased the seating capacity from ~32K people to almost 40K people.  The downside of this is that they are on average the most expensive tickets in baseball.  But they do this because (1) demand and (2) they need to charge more in order to sign the best players.

Fenway has been sold out for something like 8 years....and that means 81 home games per year.  That is a lot of sellouts.

These guys are good....they find creative ways to make money, they stay true to community and the original purpose of the team.  They put smart people in positions for them to excel.  They think outside the box - building excellence throughout the organization to try to sign younger players and develop them as a way to competing with the giants more effectively.  They put ruthless business people in positions where they are needed.  And they know that only winning will bring success and money.  Not only that, but these guys are FANS.

my $.02 - speaking as a huge Red Sox fan and lifelong Boston resident - and someone who has followed Liverpool for years now (I chose Liverpool as the team most like the Sox and the team that I would support when we first started getting English football over here).  This is the best thing for Liverpool, I just know it.

Getting money/free-of-debt is one thing.  But getting management and an organization that knows what it is doing is something MUCH MUCH more valuable.

Hicks, Gillett drop damages claim for now

The Associated Press  Oct. 15, 2010 - 10:27 am

DALLAS -- An attorney for Tom Hicks and George Gillett Jr. says the Americans are dropping a lawsuit seeking $1.6 billion in damages stemming from the contentious sale of the Liverpool soccer club.

Attorney Tom Melsheimer said Friday that Hicks and Gillett were dropping the claim to comply with an English court order. He says "a different picture will be painted" when the English court "has a chance to hear all the facts," suggesting the fight isn't over.

The statement came about two hours after the $476 million sale of the storied English club to the owners of the Boston Red Sox was finalized in London. That came after Hicks and Gillett dropped a temporary restraining order blocking the sale obtained in a Texas court.

Here's what the Echo's reporting:

Ex-Liverpool FC owners Hicks and Gillett withdraw Texas lawsuit but $1.6 billion damages claim remains

OUSTED Liverpool FC owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett this evening withdrew their $1.6bn lawsuit in Texas against the club.

But they vowed to press ahead with their claim for damages after the sale of the Reds to New England Sports Ventures this afternoon.

The former co-owners also revealed their intention to bring their latest lawsuit across the Atlantic to an English court.

If they continued with their action against the Royal Bank of Scotland and the English directors of the Anfield board, the High Court in London had threatened to hold them in contempt of court.

But Hicks and Gillett, who have lost £14m now the sale to Boston has gone through, still argue Liverpool was undervalued and the deal was illegally sealed.

A statement from the ex-owners said: "Mr. Hicks and Mr. Gillett have withdrawn without prejudice their Texas lawsuit in order to fully comply with the order of the English court.

"We believe the order is overbroad and unfair, yet Mr. Hicks and Mr. Gillett respect the legal process.

"We believe that once the English court finally has a chance to hear all the facts, a very different picture will be painted."

So, they still plan to sue--just in an English court rather than a Texas court.  :Oo: Yeah, that should work out well for them.  Unleash the Kraken Grabbo!  :D

Not that I'm really all that hung up on the legal minutae at the moment but what's this bit referring to?  Did I miss another High Court decision today or is this something that came as part of yesterday's ruling?
