or................time was running out and they called them and begged them to buy us. and this seems more like the case if you go by what the city press think.

The city press through their spokesmen - YOU - have shown over time to be proven to know nothing and talk utter sh.ite .

Broughton has being doing this for years as a chairmen and it looks like they have outmanouvered the tw@ts good and proper .

Simple fact is that you need money to win titles these days, Daws. That's how it is.

Unfortunately true

Yes oil is "drying out and rather rapidly" ... but they do have business and investment elsewhere ...

Indeed they do...

Artificial islands in the Gulf

Indoor ski resorts in the desert

Refrigerated beaches

Massive money spent on desalinating water to use on golf courses, lawns, fountains etc.

Yep, can't see that going sour any time soon.  :Oo:  :D
Not only that .. they have a lot more ...
Business have falling over in the middle east - building work is stopping , the money is drying up and quickly - they have invested so much in trying to make it the best and biggest place in the world and make it the number one holiday destination in the world but it hasnt happened .
If Sheikh Mohammed would have bought us we would have been the biggest club in the world, make no mistake about it Dubai is fantastic and Liverpool would have been in very safe hands.
Like his Godolphin Race courses.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

yer only 37 mil left, thats about the norm for a big company.

yes we could clear that debt in a year.......aslong as we give up the idea of a new ground.

the only way the new ground will be built is with a loan.........dont sound good to me mate, what do you think?

Well he hasn't ruled out re-developing Anfield which would be popular with most fans. Naming rights and borrowing could pay for that . The stadium should pay for itself in theory.

Where do you expect them to get the money from, the tooth fairy? Of course its going to have to be borrowed.

They borrowed to pay for the redevelopment of their baseball stadium - nearly 300 million and its pretty much paid for itself in the end .

Borrow ? That's very clear they have no money ...

So where do you expect 300 million to 'appear' from to pay for the stadium? Even if they had it, they'd still expect interest payments on it if they used their own money.

Abramovich is the only one who pumps money in interest free but thats unrealistic outside of Chelski where there is are business plans to meet.

The Red Sox arent a sugar daddy, I'll tell you that straight off.

Don't compare with Chelsea and Abramovich or Man City and Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan .. but how I wish we have the owner that that ... I think if we have someone like them ( who as rich as they ) who took the ownership 3 years ago , I'm sure that they have already won a lot of title and cup and most of our players are World Class Players , NOT like Lucas, Konchesky, Aurelio, Jovanovic, Maxi, Babel, Poulsen ...

Liverpool have been provisionally sold  for £300m to New  England Ventures

Broughton said the new owners are committed to building a new stadium – possibly by redeveloping Anfield – in a bid to keep the club's history and traditions in place on the present site. Broughton said they would investigate an idea to redevelop on the current stadium site first mooted by Anfield legend Kenny Dalglish.

If not feasible he said  they will build a new stadium on the alternative site in Stanley Park.

Broughton also revealed a tight contractual agreement has been put in place to ensure the debt for taking over Liverpool  can never be put back on the club again – as Hicks and Gillett did sparking the crisis of the past few years.

Its a very good article for those who havent read it.

Why would you want Arab owners?  They own like half of England already.

Nothing to do with politics, race or religion ... but it seems that they are the one that got more money ...

The money over there is drying out and rather rapidly - they have blown billions trying to build big buildings etc .

The point Bob was making is that all those things are just a mad men's ideas of luxury. They are toys. You can't expect to build those kinds of things and maintain them when the source of paying for that maintainance will eventually dry up. They are not investments that make massive amounts of money for the foreseeable.

The thing is about American business men, is that they are either very good or just very bad. We got the bad sort first time around. The kind that have f*cked the economy for everyone else. America wouldn't be the place it is today if there weren't some very good business people running it. Personally, I'd prefere we stay well clear of that side of the ocean, but if these lot come in and we start to see their plans in action soon after, I won't complain much so long as the club is returned to normallity and we look as if we're going forward. That is infinitly better than the situation we are in now.

I am not only very cautious and sceptical about American owners but more worried about the fact we will have absentee owners once again.

This worries me more than anything. The last thing we need is our club run by emails once a fortnight like twit & tw@t done.

Going by what they have said they will look for someone who knows the game and install them as running the club - they did it with a young guy in the red sox and i have a feeling we will see a English or at least European CEO running the club for them .

No I think this time there will be someone based over here. I think this will all be in with the contract. But I do find it hard to put my trust in them.
