Excellent live blog the Echo is conducting... slowly putting to bed my biggest fears

it is promising, but i dont think it will stop debt being put on the club in future . Sporting Intellegence reported that:

- NESV has promised £240m in cash to wipe out the majority of the monies owed to RBS and Wachovia. This is cash, not borrowed money, and therefore not to be leveraged against any Liverpool assets, sources say.

- Some £60m of debt will remain in the club (guaranteed by NESV), with approximately £40m of that earmarked for stadium redevelopment, and £20m for cashflow.

is still factually true. the INVESTED money will never be put on to the club. However NEW money / loans may have to be sought to build a new stadium / fund player purchases

Well, even though I am sceptical and it might be out of the frying pan and.... I'd like to say that if they are they only bidders and they are a way out of the vermins grasp, I'd take it.

The stadium, while beloved, was outdated and didn't provide suitable revenues to compete with the Red Sox rivals. Rather than build an entire new stadium, Henry (and partner Larry Lucchino) made incremental changes to the ballpark, increasing its capacity and the revenue the team could derive from it. And they did so without stripping away the character of the ballpark.

hick will go to court to stop the deal.
Hick will also try to stop the club from making any profit during this time.
Hicks could ask the pream to block liverpool from playing any game or for games to be set under closed doors.

this is going to get very nasty now.

the club was sort of solf 3 hours ago yet Hicks is in place to get it all put in the bim.

the sale of the club still leaves us with a debt of 37mil, thats about the norm for a big company.

buy do the new owners have the funds to buy players and build a ground.....no.

I'm no Red Sox fan ( I'm a Mets fan), but when I heard this last night I thought it was great news. I have alot of respect for what John Henry has accomplished and in the manner of which he has done it in Boston.

When I heard Tom Hicks had bought Liverpool my first thought was more of a sickening grunt that is usually reserved for severe stomach troubles.

When I heard John Henry, I thought, well aside from a mega-rich sugar daddy, this is the kind of owner that can really offer stability with enough desire to win and spend responsibly as any other sports owner I could think of.

I think we'll see quiet changes behind the scenes. He will do his homework and try to find the best people to run the club (Dalglish will probably have a large role to play in this search). I don't think the stadium will be at the forefront of the list of places to improve upon first. The TV money will be a big part of finding more money for the club for these new owners (Here in the States, Asia etc).
