Nobody fails their medical? And he's only a loan deal. His value is rapidly dropping to sweet FA at this rate.

fair enough, Nemeth's goalscoring rate in Greece, where he scored 3 goals is nothing to get excited about but there was a point in time where many posters including myself were baffled as to why Ngog was given the chance time and time ahead of Nemeth and even Pacheco. in time, we have seen Ngog improve but the question is why isnt the same time and chance with the first team being given to Nemeth.

It's an interesting one, mate. On the one hand, his record for his country and his (presumed) quality for the reserves suggest he's a prospect that should be carefully considered. On the other hand, he was loaned to a Greek club (surely a statement in itself) where he didn't exactly pull up trees. I guess it's one of those situations where I take the less than exciting position that there are experts within the club that know a lot better than me whether this kid has what it takes and it's clear that those experts have decided he does not.

And, to get this thread back on topic, that goes for Aquilani. I think those that have made the Morientes comparison are on to something. Morientes wasn't a rubbish player, he just didn't take to the Premiership as readily as was hoped. Consequently, he lost confidence, further impacting his form and meaning that he wasn't an especially reliable option. Eventually, he got shipped out, which was the right decision. I think the same holds for Alberto. A quality player in Italy to be sure but it seems like he was someone that really struggled to come to terms with the pace and physicality of the English game. I think Rafa sussed this out in the second half of last season and used him sparingly as a result. Roy's clearly come to the same conclusion and, as with Nemeth, I have faith that those in the know inside Melwood are calling this right.

The thing is though 4 me he DID take 2 the premiership (when he played) So why not give him a chance now hes finally fit. It seems strange 2 wait so long 4 an injured player 2 get back then dont even bother with them. Especially one whos cleary talented

I dont know why everyone is comparing him 2 Morienties when Morienties was given games 2 prove himself

I don't know the true extent of his injuries but, for me, he was a quality player that could have been successful in the Prem if given the opportunities. He showed it quite a few times last season that he clearly had qualities that none of our midfielders have. For whatever reason neither of our Managers rated him though, whether it was his training methods, his injuries, his playing style.. whatever.. in the end it was clearly an awful buy by Rafa.

Dude, I seem to recall Neil Mellor demonstrating the same qualities during two very prolific seasons in the reserves. It's a massive jump to do it for the first team.

And he's found his level now, Championship.

I wouldnt even say hes good enough 4 that level. Not exactly set the championship alight.

Aquilani underwent medicals today, starting this morning at the La Fornaca clinic, an elite private medical center in Turin. He then proceeded to the Isokinetic clinic, where Gianluigi Buffon is undergoing rehab. Then he went to his hotel, had some lunch, and had more medical tests in the afternoon, at the Center for Sports Medicine near the Stadio Olimpico. He spent 3.5 hours doing medicals in the morning, and then 2.5 hours more after lunch. Total time in examination: 6 hours. Total time for Milos Krasic? 1 hour, 40 minutes.

The good news, of course, is that he’s received the all clear from the different medical groups, who put him through some pretty tough tests. He’s recently had a calf injury and a problem with the right-knee, but they seem to have resolved and he looks to be in generally good shape.

Aquilani is signing at Juve headquarters now, a contract for 3.3million euros this year. There is a right-to-buy for 16million euros in the contract with Liverpool.

It is becoming more clear to me as time passes by that sending Aquilani out on loan is a big mistake by Roy.

I think it would have made a huge difference.. Lucas for the most part is detrimental to our attack and not that great defensively at times either. He has his games but for the most part he isn't good enough to start for us.

Would have given us more options.. Dont think it would have prevented us losing to City but the possession definitely wouldnt have been 80-20 in their favor... We still need someone like him, if they can also throw in a tackle here and there then its an added bonus... Needs replacing though, no doubt about it..
