hahaha mate, no manager is going to sell a player based on what they see in training  :D

And even if that was the case, I remember at the end of last season Carragher was saying how excellent Aquilani had been in training.

Gerrard also said "the lad can play"

i'm not denying that. But i don't think he's suited to the premier league.

Pity, but onwards and upwards.

We've made worse buys in terms of value for money (he's worth about a half what we paid) but this is the most frustrating transfer I can ever remember. To arrive - effectively as Alonso's replacement - after the highs of 08/09 and having been given the big build up, only to then see his debut be delayed and delayed. All the while we're struggling like f'uck on the pitch hoping this lad's gonna be our saviour and eventually when he did find his fitness at a time when we had a chance of salvaging our season, the manager wouldn't even trust him in games against the likes of Wolves and Wigan.

It looked at the start of the summer like this would be the season in which he would be given the chance to make his mark, but just 10 days before the transfer deadline he's been sent back to Italy on loan.

HE must be wondering WTF he got himself into.

Strange this Nemeth situation .....I'm wondering when Hodgson had the time to view this Lad at such close quarters to indeed form a respective opinion on his overall quality ... I might be mistaken but I dont recall him being summoned back from Greece to plead his case ??? and much in the same respect Aquilani ...I suspect maybe he didnt fit into the managers plan to have a more defensive unit and completely bereft of the invention Aquilani would have no doubt provided ???
As for the fans who believed (no raved ) about Nemeths natural ability it wasnt gleened from watching You Tube videos ...it was through following the reserves and making an informed decision on the lads undoubted apptitude for finding the net with an unerring accuracy .........

Dude, I seem to recall Neil Mellor demonstrating the same qualities during two very prolific seasons in the reserves. It's a massive jump to do it for the first team.

And he's found his level now, Championship.

Yes I understand your concerns about Nemeth Scott ,but likening him to Neil Mellor seems a tad harsh, because in all honesty Mellor had his chance to shine in the first team whereas Nemeth was  never given that opportunity  ...who knows maybe its more of an attitude thing with the Lad rather than ability  ???
Anyway he's gone.... and in whatever respect his face just didn't fit in with the managers plans ... Likewise Aquilani who I thought would have been brilliant in the capable hands of Hodgson (Or at least we were told as much last season ) and his attack minded philosophy .....

I see your point about Mellor getting his opportunity in the first team (unlike Nemeth) but the rationale for putting him (Nemeth) in the first team is/was his scoring form in the reserves. I think these lads have to impress (big time) in the reserves and then they have to impress in first team training on a regular basis simply to earn a shot in a 1-16 shirt. I'm more hopeful for lads such as Susso or Raheem Stirling who have already been part of the first team during this past pre-season aged 15 and 17 respectively.

Is Aqua gone yet?

We could do with now since Masch is apparently refusing to play for us.

Gotta be a joke, mate.  If he managed to pass his medical with us last summer surely he can pass Juve's?  :Oo:
