142 pages of comments on a guy who played 142 minutes and cost us millions in wages.   WTF was Aqualani all about? ???

its a just another bad purchase. Lucas played further up for Gremio, and it was that position which earned him rave reviews in Brazil. Gerrard is the default option if anyone is gonna be behind Torres. and with the arrival of Cole, it brings Aquilani further down the pecking order as he plays further upfield too. Poulsen is naturally a DM so thankfully we have someone who can protect the back 5. its a bad buy at the end of the day as he doesnt seem to fit in anywhere.

Its a lack of imagination more than anything else. Joe Cole does not belong to the center any more than Gerrard in CM, except in the infantile imagination of british pundits like Gray. There's a reason two world class managers at Chelsea all saw his game from the flanks...
Floyd stepped left and threw the hook that caught Hatton flush under the chin. Finally, the British champ had arrived in that mythical place of which his fans speak: Hatton Wonderland.

No Better with him, No worse without him. Thats the impact Aquilani had. Totally indifferent.

Alberto Aquilani has said he has no plans to return to Liverpool after sealing his loan move to Juventus.

Aquilani joined Liverpool from Roma last summer following the sale of Xabi Alonso to Real Madrid, but he struggled to make an impression and has now been allowed to return to Italy.

The loan includes an option to make the deal permanent and, while Aquilani says he is happy to have played for Liverpool, he is determined to stay in his homeland and force his way back into the Italy side.

"England has been a very beautiful experience, but I am here to stay," Aquilani said. "I am a professional and Juventus is a fundamental stage in my career to get me back in contention with the national team."

He added: "Leaving Roma was a difficult choice, but I helped my club resolve financial problems."

Meanwhile, Juventus have announced that striker Amauri is expected to be sidelined for 25 days due to a thigh injury. It means he will miss Italy's Euro 2012 qualifiers against Estonia and Faroe Islands.

It always amazes me the way people see something in one player and not another. I couldnt see what the attraction was with Lucas or mascherano. Both decent enough players in their own right (?) but nothing special to me. Lucas is a short pass player with little or no threat to goal. Same with Mascherano who was the better ball winner but just as much a liability as Lucas
Aquilani had some class in my opinion. He was always looking for the forward pass. Unfortunately last season we didnt like going forward so he looked as if he didnt know what he was doing. As far as his tackling was concerned I can think of plenty of attacking midfielders, past and present who never put their foot in. Yet this seems to be one of his major faults to some.
I have said time and again that 7 assists and 2 goals in the small amount of time he played proves at least that he was going in the right direction.
Unfortunately Roy didnt rate him and we are struggling for attacking creative players.
Can he order him back or not?

Would take him back in an instant - would offer Poulsen but they already know he isn't good enough.

Apparently Roy also didn't rate Van De Vart and went to great lengths through the wonderful medium of the press to proclaim his belief that he didn't deem Van De Vart to be a player Liverpool needed
such is the intuition of our manager ...so it comes as no shock Aquilani didn't fit the profile for Roy's ideal player ......
Who feels foolish now ....
