on the bench - don't care if he is the best or worst player , he manager makes a choice you still play your heart out . I'm sure it wasn't long after that game gerrard was smiling like a chesire cat after we stuffed Benfica .jimmy brighton wrote:Agree with you Benny. This is the quandary I was talking about. I'd obviously like to think that Gerrard was just off-form but me thinks that his star part in our world cup winning team was also at the back of his mind. It really irks me to think that he'd given up on his club season (and the ensuing departure of Benitez), to stay fit for his star role on the global stage. I felt this through most of the back of last season and wanted him gone. To sound a bit contradictory, I still love the guy and can't see the re-emergence of Roy's Liverpool without him.

being serious (for just one moment)
I don’t believe for a second that Gerrard, or any of the other members of our squad for that matter, ‘deliberately’ sought to force Rafa out by playing baldy.
Bad form? Yes.
Bad tactics and decisions? Yes
Combine those and you get low confidence and poor results. Personally, i believe Gerrard would have left if Rafa had stayed in charge. As that clip shows, he had lost faith in the manager and he would have HAD to leave because you can't have that situation at ANY club, regardless of their placing in the table.
