To be honest we are crying out for a bit more composure at the back so it may not be a bad thing.
I think he will see next season out from the bench, then move on and join the backroom staff elsewhere to learn his trade in the lower leagues.
Wish him all the best and would love to see him back on the Anfield staff in a few years time.

It has to be said that Carragher was brilliant on Sunday and kept Rooney a man who is bang on form very very quiet for 90 mins. In all the doom and gloom going around at the moment I thought his performance on Sunday was to be commended

Jamie Carragher will be a team captain in a special A Question of Sport event to raise money for his 23 Foundation and Radio City's Cash for Kids.

Carra will join host John Parrott in an all-Merseyside line-up which will also include Peter Reid, Ian Snodin, Mike Newell and Steve Parry.

A Question of Sport Derby Challenge takes place at the Hilton in Liverpool at 7pm on September 2 - two days before Carra's testimonial.

Tickets for the event cost £35 - or £300 for a table of 10. This includes a curry and a pint, the chance to bid in a charity auction and an opportunity quiz the stars in a Q&A.

Carragher was a great player. Let me just get that out of the way first.

I watched Liverpool play tonight. Not impressed. Disappointed for Joe Cole that he missed a penalty. That said it was a very poor penalty. I think we will beat Trab in Turkey by a couple of goals, so i'm not really worried about that.

What i want to say about Carragher is - get rid of that hoof-maniac, i am sick of seeing this slow old coot in our defense struggling to keep up with attackers. He's past it!!! Everytime he got the ball tonight everybody was shouting "PASS IT, PASS IT!". No, Carra :censored:

hoofs it up the pitch and gives the :censored:

ball away.

I don't care if you are a legend please, please, please retire.

Are you being serious ?! yes he does hoof it a lot but he always has and a lot of time its done to releve pressure or because there is no one else to pass too .

Well i was expecting someone to say something like Carra is a legend - remember Istanbul!. But thank you for hearing me out.

I can recall a number of times when Carra was dilly-dallying around in defense, looking around and then what the :censored:

does he do - of course, hoofs it! It seems to draw more pressure when he hoofs it, the only person up front is Torres. Carra's hoofs are just aimless punts up the field. He's not a constructive player, he's the opposite, but now we need someone who is constructive and builds an attack in defense.

That is where agger comes in - he provides the balance to carra . You need a nonsense defend at all costs cb and that is carra .

Has more to do with Lucas and Poulsen being the 2 ahead of him... Serious lack of balance and creativity amongst the 6 or so players responsible for starting our attacks from the back...

What are the defenders supposed to do if the midfield just constantly passes it back to them?

Hoof. There is no other solution but to have it gathered by a direct player from midfield.

Exactly. The players in MIDFIELD are supposed to link the defence and attack, not continually decide there is no way forward and pass backwards. If the players in the side to link the defence and attack aren't doing their job, what are those in the side whose job is to not concede goals supposed to do?

The outlets are the full-backs and midfield, what Liverpool settle into too much is "keep ball" in unthreatening positions. Of course if two of your midfielders aren't much of passers or dribblers then your outlets are limited. And fwiw I think the long ball down the flanks isn't the worst ball in the world if played accurately and not all the time. When Reina or Agger do it apparently it is ok, when Carra does it then it's "hoofing", regardless the fact that Agger and Reina don't always find their man any more than Carra
