Broughton, Purslow and Ayre (sp) can outvote the 2 yanks when it comes to selling is it true? and what's Barclay's role in this?

Right maxi lad , i'll give it a go .

There are three bidders that we know of (broughton said there was 6) Huang , kadyri and the al khafiri family (kuwait). Broughton said the decision would be dealt with by the board and not H+G. The board is H+G , Broughton Purslow and Ayre. So H+G can be voted against (from what we know). Barcap were appointed by RBS with the consent of (probably they were told ) H+G to sell LFC .Broughton was appointed by RBS with the consent of (as above ) H+G to be the public face of this sale , as he reputation in the city is very good and he would bring his knowhow and expertise into the sale process. That's where we are at at the minute mate i think. There is a sh!tload of media spin coming from all sides , so it's hard to gauge which is best for us . Personally i'm totally against H+G having any input whatsoever ,so i don't want the Kadyri bid as Gillett is backing him . As for the rest , i'm just trying to take in as much info as i can and hope that Broughton uses his expertise to do the right thing by us the fans and make the right decision .

Hope that helps mate .  :;):

Liverpool legends Kenny Dalglish and Alan Hansen are being lined up for seats in the Anfield boardroom as part of plans to restore the club's identity.

Chairman Martin Broughton is mulling over whether to provide the Kop heroes, who won virtually every honour during the 1970s and 1980s with the club, places on the board in a bid to restore continuity and preserve the Reds' heritage.

George Gillett and Tom Hicks, Liverpool's American co-owners, have relinquished control of the club to Broughton and Barclays Capital in a bid to find a successful buyer for the club following their failure to build a new stadium and ensure that the club remained debt-free.

Dalglish, 59, returned to the club last summer, 18 years after he sensationally quit as manager, to become a youth ambassador but had been tipped to leave the position after being overlooked as Rafael Benitez's successor in favour of current manager Roy Hodgson.

Fellow Scot Hansen, 55, would be keen on a return to the club where he lifted eight domestic titles and three European Cups in his glittering Anfield career but may be ruled out due to his status as a pundit on BBC Match of the Day, which would be classed as a conflict of interests.

Kenny Huang and Sportscorp China Ltd remain favourite to win the battle for ownership but Gillett and Hicks are understood to favour former Syrian footballer Yahya Kirdi, who claimed earlier this week that he had completed a deal with the pair for the club.

But Huang's bid has been given the backing of Broughton, managing director Christian Purslow and commercial director Ian Ayre, which leaves the Hong Kong-based businessman in the driving seat.

Like this bit, Broughton and Purslow and Ayre favour Huang's  deal so it effectively will out favour the Yanks.

But what I don't get is how could the Yanks of left themselves in that situation were the can be out voted by a board they put together?

A little bit of hope that a bonafide bid may still be on, from Bamba:

Evening all. Just checking in to try and bring a bit of balance to what was always going to be a bit of a rollercoaster. It’s exactly a week since news of Red Ken’s proposed takeover was revealed, and in that week he’s gone from being hailed as our saviour to derided as a publicity-crazy psycho. But after the drama of the bid revelation, there was always going to be a period of comparative silence, the more so because a) it’s the weekend and b) Martin Broughton has, correctly, insisted on a bit of decorum from any party wanting their bid to be taken seriously. Still, it’s worth reminding everyone that Ken Huang has not made a public statement and neither has CIC denied their involvement in the LFC takeover bid. The initial splurge of info was necessary, on balance, because it ensured a level of transparency leading into this bid process. But that doesn’t make Huang’s party a gang fame-hungry narcissists. Their bid is real. Their backing is real. Their intent - to be LFC’s new owners as soon as viably possible - is real.

I’ve said previously and I’ll say again - there’s a lot more that could be revealed about this bid, the consortium and the ailing health of Hicks and Gillette’s financial empires. But as has also been politely pointed out, the wisdom of radio silence is not in the limiting of information to your troops, rather making sure the enemy don’t know where you’ll hit them next. We all know these boards are scanned far and wide, so let’s not give anything away this late in the day.

Broughton has requested that all interested parties show the mettle of their bid and their worth by Wednesday. Things will begin to heat up again over the next day or two and I’m confident that Red Ken’s will end up being the only serious bid on the table.

Bamba posted that above and he is insinuating he knows more. Wednesday seems like the day we will get some really good information.

Here's hoping!

Taxpayer could take over Liverpool

• RBS's main £237m loan expires on 6 October
• Broughton looking to find a buyer for the club

Liverpool are two months from becoming majority-owned by the taxpayer, which, the Observer can reveal, has become the likeliest outcome if a sale has not neared completion in that time.

The Royal Bank of Scotland's main £237m loan to the club expires on 6 October and must either be repaid or rolled over. Additional sums owing to RBS are believed to have increased the club's total debt to the bank to £325m. Liverpool's company secretary, Ian Silvester, said: "From what I understand, and that's all I can say, the urgency is there due to the pressure from the banks, so I would anticipate that something will be happening within the next four to six weeks or so."

One option open to RBS would be to put the club's parent company, Kop Football (Holdings), into administration, but that is not favoured since it would almost inevitably lead to a nine-point deduction under Premier League insolvency rules. Instead, the Observer has learned, unless one of the parties involved in negotiations to take over at Anfield follows through with a formal offer, RBS's corporate-restructuring team would assume control of Liverpool and run the club as a wholly owned subsidiary. That would effectively put the five-times European champions in the hands of the taxpayer who, through the government-owned UK Financial Investments Ltd, holds 84.42% of the issued share capital in RBS.

When the loans last required refinancing in April Martin Broughton was installed by RBS as club chairman. This is said to have been due to the inability of the current shareholders, Tom Hicks and George Gillett, to provide the necessary personal guarantees to the bank. But those close to the situation say RBS's patience has now reached breaking point. In the absence of a takeover or fresh funding from the Americans the bank will be entitled to oust Hicks and Gillett from the board of Kop Football (Holdings), a step the bank is believed to be ready to take in October.

"One or two in the bank are getting twitchy about getting their money back at all," a source said. "And they are incredibly nervous about the current bids. They don't regard anything as particularly serious at the moment."

Those said to be keen on bidding include the Chinese Kenny Huang, the Syrian Yahya Kirdi, the Kuwaiti Kharafi Group, the US private-equity firm Rhône Group and, reportedly, now the Indian conglomerate Sahara.

RBS's prerequisite in the sale process is for repayment in full, though none of the bidders has yet provided proof of funds. This is highly significant since formal due diligence cannot therefore proceed, despite pledges from several consortiums to build a new stadium and invest in the team.

That is when buyers would look for the first time over player contracts, planning applications surrounding the stadium and a host of other legal issues that could potentially throw up obstacles to a takeover. Due diligence can take weeks, so the chance of a takeover before the closure of the transfer window on 31 August is remote. There is also a growing possibility that the 6 October deadline will not be met.

In an effort to bring greater order to the chaos around Anfield, Broughton has issued a request for all parties to demonstrate their funding by the end of the coming week. There were indications yesterday from Huang's camp that he will show he is capable of financing a bid. However, for the first time there was an admission that any cash he has raised will not derive from China's sovereign‑wealth fund, the China Investment Corporation. That development raises issues over the credibility of Huang's bid, since those inside the sale process had previously been informed by his camp that CIC was involved.

Broughton will seek this week to apply similar pressure to Kirdi, whose consortium's credibility has been called into question by those involved in the sale process. If neither Huang nor Kirdi can meet Broughton's terms by next weekend, Liverpool will have no further contact with them.

That would leave only two, possibly three, bidders at the table. And without one of Rhône, Kharafi or Sahara proceeding over the next nine weeks to a stage where a takeover is almost a foregone conclusion, the prospect that Liverpool become effectively a state‑owned enterprise rises.

Yes I've no doubt they do some dodgy sh!t, but feck me we're hardly whiter than white ourselves as a country. Absolutely totally fecking irrelevent if you ask me.

but you are not your government.   It would be or is a totally different proposition if Chinese people are buying the club compared to the Chinese government.   Yes, it would be stupid to say that H&G are bad owners because of the all the horrible things that the American government has done. (they are bad owners for other reasons).   But if the US Treasury wanted to buy Liverpool, or ANY government for that matter, there would certainly be cause for alarm, and you could point out all the human rights the government has violated and point out that all the money they have, they stole from their people.

The Chinese government is just one of the worst around (despite not being as bad as they used to be)

We only get to hear the very worst (western propaganda) about the chinese though. My brother lives in china so I get to hear the other side. We never hear how generally people live happier and much longer livers over there for a start.
Anyway like mick said I dont think it should be brought into this unless we are willing to take a sobre look at our own governments and the crimes they comit the world over.
Its got nowt to do with us.

that is completely missing the point I was talking about.

Is there a question of the British government buying Liverpool? no.  If there was, then surely the British governments terrible record should be brought up.

I think you`ll find Joe at the moment we are as good as owned by the British government due to RBS.
