It takes a very special dictatorial attitude to execute young girls in public or before a football match. Do you really want to be associated in anyway with that sort of activity.

What if those young girls had commited murder or were major drug trafficers ? If they no the punishment no matter how harsh it is and they caught then have to suffer the consequences - I believe there is an area for captial punishment for certain crimes but thats a discussion for another thread .

Do we tar all chinese with the same brush ? Im pretty sure the guys looking to invest in us are pretty civilised .

nenny, pls pls read up on what happens in China, yes we are told they are done due to drugs, but that is a cover up and there is film to back all this up.

from what the bbc understand Kenny still has only make an offer to buy the debt and not the club, he will not be a full buy out.

Lots not confuse the Chinese government with every single thing that happens in China.   Is the Chinese government pure evil? yes.  Why should that mean that someone should not buy any products that are made within the geopolitical designation known as China?   Boycotting entire countries doesn't do anything but make evil regimes more powerful.  Look at the US embargo of Cuba, that hasn't done a thing to get Castro out of power.

Is the United States government pure evil?  You bet.  UK isn't any better.  Maybe they aren't as evil as China, but China isn't as evil as it used to be.

This is a very emotive issue. It is not a black and white case, economically China has chosen its course. Politically it is 'in transition' towards something less autocratic and more free market but obviously it hasn't arrived yet. Socially it remains in the dark ages where they do not tolerate any civil disobedience, and desent is met with fire. Serious crime is also dealt with harshly. China´s biggest fear is social  implosion and civil war sparked by social disorder due unemployment, worker migration and/or subversive action - that will not be tolerated under any circumstances. China at its level of social unsophistication today, is not ready for democracy, is not ready for the free market and is not ready for free politics/open opposition/demonstration. In my lifetime, Mao was executing them by the million, they cant suddenly loosen the grip or pretend an unprepared, inexperienced and ethnically multi cultural and racial society is ready to take its place in the world. The Chinese government still remains preoccupied more by what goes on within its borders than outside.

Bottom line change is coming but at a controlled pace. Will having Chinese owners help the common man in China? IMHO yes, as I mentioed a few pages back if they gain experience of how a top club works, how the EPL and Uefa and CL works then go home and replicate it back home creating a more sophisticated leisure industry and social environment.

Im not going to sit here and say those things which go on in China are not wrong but it's not like those are the same people are going to be taking us over. Also arnt they involved with other sports too? Besides the Birmingham owner is Chinese too isn't he?

Lakes what you are saying is like me refusing to visiting South Central LA for fear of being robbed by some gangbanger. You can't assume the whole nation of China feels the same. To take that view would be slightly short sighted mate.

mate not a good idea to start talking about wars, for a start we are not the only ones over there and if you look back over the years who funded the guns being used it gets a bit crazy, money was given by both the us and china to the afghan.

and if you look at chinas wars well what they did can be even more shocking.

Human rights mate thats all i am saying, and i feel that if we are backed by them them from time to time be ready for the baclash.

I am not saying that mate, as long as members and fans have their eyes open about what is going on there.

if they do take over and our games are shown live (that will never happen) it could be used by some to bring to light what is going on over there, dont forget they have no real news over there, most of them no nothing about the Tibet deaths that just happend....its not reported, the 1988 uprising did not happen to them as you can not even look it up on the web over there and if you tried you could get a vist and you are never seen again.

Lakes if they do takeover people will only be interested in what happens here and what happens to our club - short sighted maybe but thats what people will be interested in . They will leave the political debating to other people - at the end of the day we are football fans and that is what we care and worry about when it comes to Liverpool Football Club - whats best for the club.

The proposed takeover of Liverpool by a Chinese consortium would not involve direct ownership by the country’s government, although they may have a passive role in the organisation, it has been claimed.

More details of the bid fronted by Hong Kong-based businessman Kenny Huang have come to light after it was revealed the Chinese investors are being assisted by Chicago-based company Sportscorp.

The consortium have yet to table a bid, although Liverpool have now requested all parties prove by next week they have the money to back up their interest, but appear to be in pole position to replace American duo Tom Hicks and George Gillett.

If successful Huang and Guang Yang, executive vice-president of Franklin Templeton Investments and chief investment officer of the China Life/Franklin Templeton Fund, would be in charge of a limited liability corporation in control of Liverpool.

Other investors, including China Investment Corp - the country’s sovereign wealth fund - would be passive with no more than a 20% share.

The Chinese bid has four major aims: to leave Liverpool debt-free; make significant investment and construct the long-awaited new stadium in Stanley Park; provide a considerable sum for transfers and expand more actively into the Asian market.

However, those behind the plan - the broad details of which have already been submitted to Liverpool chairman Martin Broughton and Barclays Capital, who are running the sale of the club - insist their offer would not be financially beneficial to Hicks and Gillett.

“What is not one of our goals is the enrichment of the existing owners,” said head of Sportscorp Marc Ganis, who suggested should the takeover be successful there would not be widespread change behind the scenes at Anfield.

“If we submit a proposal and it is accepted, it would be focused on the future and not the past.”
