I hope so but like I said all this talk of this fella acting on behalf of a group of multi-squillionaires, talk of signing Messi and a f*ckton of world class players and an immediate start to the 200,000 seater stadium that will be ready before the Arsenal game just has me thinking that if something sounds too good to be true it unfortunately usually is. Its a shame to because Lionel Messi would be a fantastic understudy to Dirk Kuyt :rasp

All I know is the club will decide and announce their chosen bidder by the end of next week. We'll take it from there, but hey we have come a long way. Looking back 6 months ago we thought they would never shift.

Liverpool chairman Martin Broughton will open formal talks with Chinese businessman Kenny Huang later this week over a proposed buyout of the club.

The Hong Kong based head of investment company QSL Sports Ltd is acting as the front man for a consortium of wealthy investors from China, who are interested in buying the England football club.

Huang had initially approached Liverpool's bankers RBS with a plan to buy the £230million debt that current owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett have placed on the club.

But his long term plan is to force the Americans to accept a reasonable, market-based price for Liverpool, which he believes is significantly below the £600million Hicks has persistently claimed the club is worth.

It is understood that Huang went to RBS in an attempt to gain their support for his offer to the Americans, which will come in at around £320million when he talks to Broughton in depth later this week.

If the RBS threaten to sell the debt to the Chinese consortium, it would force Hicks and Gillett to listen to offers at a more reasonable level, or risk losing control of their investment.

Huang's move essentially amounts to what are the first shots in what could be a very public attempt battle to gain control of Liverpool.

Sources close to the businessman suggest that he is ready to invest heavily both in the team in terms of new players, and in building a new stadium, but only if the price of the purchase is right.

Already, the Americans have responded with private briefings that have suggested if the RBS does sell the debt, then they will try to refinance with another bank, after getting a similar agreement with Barclays only two months ago.

That would immediately scupper Huang's plans, but what is now more likely is that Broughton and Barclays Capital, who have been appointed to find a buyer for Liverpool, will now listen to any offers they have for the Premier League outfit.

Hicks and Gillett claim to have "six" offers on the table, but that seems to be mere posturing. The Mirror understands that there is only one other serious suitor, who has the credibility of Huang's group.

Broughton has indicated that he will listen to all offers within the next 10 days, and then elect a "preferred bidder" by the end of next week.

In layman's terms, that means Huang will set aside his attempt to buy the debt from RBS, and instead enter negotiations with his best offer due before the end of next week.

Broughton will then decide which offer - if there are any others - represents the best long term solution for the club, and recommend that the board accept the bid.

The chairman, who is also chairman of British Airways, indicated two weeks ago that he now has the power to overrule the club's American owners and sell Liverpool to the bidder he believes will offer the best future financial health.

While Huang is serious bidder, his offer is well below the Americans' asking price, and the reality of the situation is that he is only likely succeed in his attempt if there are not other credible bidders for the club.

While he remains confident that is the case, and while it is clear there are not the six bidders Hicks has suggested, there does seem to be one rival consortium weighing up a serious bid.

A Syrian businessman Yahya Kirdi has also been connected with an offer for Liverpool, but sources close to the process have told the Mirror that he is not considered a viable alternative.

The jury is still out for me , on this fella, i wanna believe he has our best interests at heart but weve been trod on so many times its actualy scarey . God i wanna believe it so much and to see them two gone , but im just praying we get the right person this time, Its like being a kid and you feel all nervous and you want a grown up to put there arms around you and tell you everything is gonna be alright and dont worry, Me stomach is in bits with butterflies thinking yes it could finaly be over and yet im terrified of who ever does take over that it will turn into another nightmare, i just want someone who cares about us the way i do , they dont have to be billionares , just care and do whats best for the club, Not asking much is it, But ill tell you what whoever does take over our eyes will be on them , and dosnt matter who they are do us wrong and we will call them into account and come down on them and all, Chinese or no Chinese we are the real red Army :nod

A source who knows Huang well said: “Kenny is good at making deals, as in facilitating deals for other people. He would certainly be capable of bringing people together. But Kenny is also very, very good at promoting Kenny.”

I agree with some that say the days of the romantic notion of buying the club because you love it is over.

So I am primarily concerned with pure finances alone. In terms of dollars and cents, T&T failed simply because they could not afford a big football club.
With this Huang fella; SOS or at least someone all us fans can trust, needs to probe him on who his 'consortium' is and how deep their pockets are.

If Huang's consortium's deep pockets are true and that it is indeed a China SWF backing him up, then I'll be over the moon on this.
Because -
1) All us T&T haters should be elated cuz he's negotiating behind T&T's backs thus royally f-ecking them up!

2) Our club's long term financial health is more or less satisfied, short of extremely savvy and prudent Arsenal, it puts us ahead of the other teams, even Manshitty cuz the Chinese are better businessmen than the Arabs. (as proven in point 1)

In any case, it really still is early days and I'll reserve any elation or depression until things are clearer. For now, I'll be passively pensive. :blues:

he still has to had over the shares of the club.....he might not give all of them.

Reg - I know that is what is being said but I do not accept that it is the reality. Would you let an estate agent sell your house at any price. As usual with these two thoroughly dishonourable opportunists there is more to it than meets the eye.

Devany - this is a different scenario than a real estate agent selling someone's house. Hicks owes the bank, missed the deadline of their payment and the bank is taking action. Do you think RBS cares about how much Hicks will make from the club? No, they want to get their money back from the owners and fast. Seeing as the club is a collateral, the bank has the upper hand now and Hicks is forced to sell under their terms not his.

Mh - there has been no formal closure by the lenders to the best of my knowledge. Is that correct? I lose track of this lot to be quite frank.
