sad about Duran though he was thought of very highly but sadly injuries ,

Liverpool have confirmed that both Francisco Duran and Nikolay Mihaylov have left the club.

Squad needed trimming, sad thing is these players were almost on a conveyor belt in and out of LFC without ever getting near the 1st team.

Maybe someone would like to produce a list of players signed and sold during Rafa's reign without ever getting into the 1st XI (squad)

Its a disgrace that we havent been able to bring even one good player through the ranks since Gerrard.

I guess Warnock and Insua have both come through.  but we sold Warnock and Insua looks due to be sold too. (and lets face it... he is quite sh.it anyways).

El Zhar is now 23 and will never make it.  The likes of Darby, Ayala, Spearing and Kelly all look useful but can't get any sort of chance in the team.  And what ever happend to Hobbs?
Also Mellor etc never made it.

Out of the lot, i always thought eventually Nemeth or Pacheco would make it at some point.  But its looking less and less likely.  It looks more likely that we'll start next season without one or both.

What is it we need to do to bring through a decent player?  Lets face it... we could really do with some given our financial status.

I was just thinking after it now appearing that even Masherano maybe even staying (only because nobody will stump up the cash to buy him though, lets not get carried away), where would people expect us to finish if we kept all our big players? Presumeably those who were very supportive of the previous manager would say "well if the squad was good enough to challenge last season, well then there's no reason why it shouldn't challenge this time as well", and I'd agree with them.

If Masherano stays, and we break even on peripheral ins and outs (meaning we don't get a money signing alternative to Torres), where would we finish, what would be a decent effort?

My take. I think we'd be fourth but right up there at times, simply because we DO need a credible alternative to our main striker. If though we signed a Beattie type and he actually worked out (I know some don't believe it's possible but while I think it's improbable, there is a chance it could), then I think we could have a really good season.

If we keep all our best players i would seriously expect us to finish in the top four atleast . It's when the inevitable injuries happen and who we have to come in that the problems occur . We need new players , but with what and what quality are we going to bring in with buttons . That's one of the major problems roy will have . Unless he has a serious go a blooding some of our very good youngsters . Which will be a big gamble .

Appears your knowledge of local matchgoers is flawed and thoroughly inaccurate.....

I agree, but that if you write is a big if with those yanks.

If we keep the best players I expect to be somewhere between last awful season and the second place of 2 years ago. 4th or so.

If the squad is exactly the same now at the start of season then I still see us in those 5th to 8th position area and never challenging for the title

Perhaps Mr beergoggles is wrong when he speaks for the people of Liverpool and regular match goers.

There you go again assuming :D  ,Im sure Daggers wont mind me mentioning I don't think he is  from Liverpool ... well at least I assume he isn't on the basis of what he has said in past posts ... excellent poster though ...not that it matters where you originate from   ??? although it seems to rub certain posters up the wrong way  :D to the point of creating enough aliases (alters ) if you like with the sole intention of winding people up .... consider this the last bite eh ... time to move on fella I don't need the forum as much as you ...certainly not enough to go to your lengths... I would  personally  just see out any ban I was given rather than chomping at the proverbial bit to get back on and provoke ... Mr Bam

Must admit I wouldn't mind a bit of clarification on who's who in here at the moment! I don't really have my ear to the ground as far as alter-egos go so I really don't know whom i'm talking to much of the time!

Benny is Gybs right? The inimitable posting style was the giveaway there!
Thommo's perm - That's Saint right?
In and Out - Is that Bam or Bamaga Man?

Am sure there's a few other posters who have been posting under different names for a while now and I wouldn't have a clue.

Bam and Bamaga man were the same guy.

I don't know who's who.

I know that in newkit there are permanent bans, which are not really permanent bans. Traditionally before the permanent ban is forgiven, there's a phase in which you have an alter ego, everybody knows the alter ego is the banned poster, and the mods look elsewhere in the whole proccess. After some weeks showing they're good guys, the permanent ban is forgiven :D

The problem this time is that we have several banned people and it's trickier than in the Stu the Red times. :D

I don't know if the problem is good guys or bad guys. You even had someone saying themselves a week or two back that they simply couldn't believe that they'd never been banned (I can't either to tell the truth but there you go), so you can't necessarily say who's "good" or "bad" I don't think.

Speaking from my own personal experience of being banned and coming back as an alter ego (admittedly only for about a day because everyone worked out it was me after about two posts :D), the reason I did it was because there was so much nonsense (in my opinion obviously) getting spouted (some of it actually about me) on the forum, and although my "return date" had passed, it was still unclear when or if I was coming back. I actually think the whole idea of alter ego's is a bit naff, and I must admit it did stick in my throat a bit going down that route. I can't say "I had no choice" as obviously I did, but I had no choice :D .

Now I don't think S@int is posting any more under any pseudonyms (and I think the forum is the worse off for it, I know not everyone agrees but I definately think he added to the discussion), and I think people may be onto something with In and Out and Benny the Noon. If they are onto something though, I'm not sure it really matters too much. Both contribute well, and I can't really see a bother with it if anyone is interested in my opinion (yes I know ).

As for Thommos' Perm, someone said it was Sir Roger. If it is, he must have got banned in my absense because I didn't know he was. Also, it could be Ace I guess if he's banned.

Anyway back on topic, I hope Roy gets us a trip to the new Wembley if he can't win the league (and he probably can't lets be honest). I've been a couple of times and it's a fantastic stadium, we'd look great playing there.

Ace posted something the other day so I don't think he's banned, just bored!

Hi Red Beer goggles   :D

A little mischief making on "In and Out's" behalf there I think ...... For the record i live and work in Merseyside but as you say whats that got to do with it ?

All i was saying is that IF (and it's a big if I know) we keep Stevie and Torres) we will have a serious chance of finishing in the Top4 thats all........

Reina , Carra, Agger, Johnson, Aqualanni, Skirtel, Masca, Lucas aren't relegation fodder and with the right players brought in (Albeit budget ones) I believe Roy can get us challenging.

For those who have been around a few years will know we have FAR WORSE teams than this one and still were able to compete and I'm not talking Pre-Premiership !

In 2005 we fielded Biscan and Smicer in the centre of Midfield during our CL run and won 1-0 at Deportivo !

I remember when Baros and Cisse led the line and Cheyrou was the next Zidane ! :D

It's easy to fall for the old platitudes of "Keep the Faith" , Walk On ..etc....at times like this but it's equally naive to think because we are in such a mess it's going to continue in the same vane and we are all doomed !

I'm no major authority on Liverpool Football Club just a fan who cares deeply about the club and someone who has watched us many many times upset the form book and surprise the world of football.

In Roy we just might have a manager who keeps the main thing the main thing and manages the players and let the suits sort out the rest.........

Walk On :)
