Spirit of Shankly and ShareLiverpoolFC Update
Friday 18th June 2010

In the last month both Spirit of Shankly and ShareLiverpoolFC have had a significant number of approaches urging both organisations to work harder for a more formal arrangement between them.

Both organisations want to reassure their members and registrants that they entirely share the view that supporters' organisations need to work together in order to secure fan ownership of our club.

Spirit of Shankly and ShareLiverpoolFC have worked hard over the last few months, and particularly the last few weeks, to formalise the combined work of both organisations toward this shared objective.

There were some difficulties in developing the structure of a merged organisation but both organisations remain totally committed to working towards the same goal and have never lost sight of this fact during the dialogue.

We are pleased to say that the discussions that have been continuing have resulted in the issues between the organisations being largely resolved.

Both organisations are currently finalising the details of how a unified organisation to deliver fan ownership will work. We would hope to be able to make a formal announcement within the next couple of weeks about this, but it is reassuring that we can now look forward to coordinated supporters' ownership being pursued in tandem by both Spirit of Shankly and ShareLiverpoolFC.

Hearing a lot of rumors circulating in the UAE that sheikh khalifa (president of the UAE) have a deal in place for Liverpool, anyone knows about this?

Check back a few pages some guy on ITK or TIA mentioned this. He is meant to be the older and richer brother of the guy who owns Man City?

Not heard anything recently but it isn't a new rumor.

I'd love to see fan ownership, I'm prepared to invest an initial £200 into the club, if 5m Liverpool fans invested £200 into the scheme, there would be £1BN raised and that would be enough to buy out these two clowns and have enough money for investment in players.

I think fan ownership is a good idea but only once the club is in a position where it is finanially self sufficient. IE the stadium is buillt and we have a strong team in place. Until then it's not worth pursuing, we need a sugar daddy right now who can sort the club out. Can the fans get together enough for a new stadium and to fund several world class players?

What about the German standard? Fans own 51% of the club and a sugar daddy or daddies own the other 49%?

Germany has a good model indeed but we have in place a pair of greedy owners who are not going to shift easily. In Germany they never would have been allowed to even take control. We need to get the club to a stable position first. Im not saying it cant be done and id gladly put in my own £££ too but I don't think the time is right.

I hate the thought of seeing out star players leave but the fact is if they do leave it could lower the value of the club and if we have another bad season it can only put more pressure on the owners to sell.

i think fan ownership is a great idea, also the 51% margin thats been mentioned, atleast this way no one can ride rough shot over the club like these two have.

i still cant believe that these two crooks cant be brought to task over the fact they said that no debt would be placed on the club, why was nothing put down in writing so if they did then the people who sold the shares in the first place would have a right to buy them back. not sure legally how something like this would work but why are they allowed to do what they have and no one in authority in this country is doing anything to stop them.

fit and proper owners my ar$e, so untill the premier league or the goverment grow some balls or better still give a damn, we`ll fight our own battles and run these two tw@ts out of town.
