European Cup & FA Cup aside the league is the only 1 that really matters mate. The rest are nothing cups. The FA Cup is nice and the European Cup has always been a romance with the club but the league is really the main 1 that matters. Even now the FA cup has lost it's charm. Nowhere near as big as it was years ago.

and as Captain of Liverpool where is his reaction to Rafa leavin..

I know the CL is big that's why I said CL aside, but the carling cup, super cup ect.. those are all nothing cups. If he want's to leave then so be it, he has given his all. Yes his attitude is questionable at times but he is only human too.

But don't worry he isn;t going to go anywhere. Lakes promised that him and Torres just wanted Rafa out so now he has gone they will sure to stay. Right lakes mate? :cool:

It's interesting how those other cups are all of a sudden 'nothing cups'.. in a footballing career how many good players end their careers with nothing to show for it ?

In football you play t0 win and winning which ever comp should be the goal. Hierarchically, we can rate them, but believe me there are plenty who will look at Gerrard's collection with great envy.

anyway.... news from the england camp is that the other players are saying that was not shocked about Rafa going, one of the players told a repoter " it was as if he know"

but this is only from talkshit so who knows.

At the end of it what is remembered is league wins. european cups and fa cups. And if that player is lucky enough to have played for a sucessfull international team then obviously world cup, euro or copa america ect...

I don't recall many top players being mentioned having won carling cups or charity shields.

If they were as important as you think then Stevie might not be wanting away right now. Collectively though I guess it has a nice ring to it "every single club comp bar the league".

But he would swap all those minor ones for a league any day of the week.

Exactly.

I don't know what people are getting worried for. We have a squad that can win the league and now that Rafa's gone the likes of Torres and Stevie can once again embrace with smiles.

It could be possible that Stevie and Carra had been prewarned by Broughton or Purslow.

Only caught the end of it but on SSN they were saying Stevie has apparantely told his friends and team mates he wants to go to Madrid. Fernando Hierro was saying he will fit in just fine there.

If that's the case, I'm losing whatever morsel of respect I still had for SG. Truth be told, I thought he underachieved big-time this year and looked most of the time like he wasn't even ar$ed. And you can trawl thru my posts on this subject back over the year just gone....
If he's mouthing off to anyone who will lend him an ear that he wants to go to Madrid, then to hell with him - let him off. I'd be more inclined to lump responsibility on someone who has a point to prove or who wants to wear the shirt with pride...I'd even tell Aquaman that he now has a chance to prove just what we paid a bucket load of money for him for...
