Couldn't get over the time when Mcmanaman went to Real Madrid (years ago now admittedly), after umming and rrring bout signing a new contract and then he went on a free transfer. I realise they have to do what's best for them but it was quite a slap in the face for us esp. when we could have got a fee had he made his mind up earlier...

WE also tried to sell him to Barcelona.

When the move fell through we were left with a player that knew we had tried to offload him.

I wouldn't be too sad to see Steven Gerrard leave providing we bought in a suitable replacement, ideally a player exchange with Real Madrid plus some cash would be a great piece of business.

Let's face it. Gerrard is 30 and probably two or three seasons left before he declines rapidly. It might be good for him and us to let him leave if that is what he wants.

Worrying MARCA headlines today

http://www.marca.com/multimedia/primeras/10/06/0602.html

Gerrard, HOT, HOT, they say, which is an expression to say the operation could be very close to be done.

They keys to this operation according to MARCA would be:

* Mourinho wants someone to play alongside Alonso, and he likes players ending their careers for their experience. (Funny many thought Alonso and Gerrard were not compatible)

* According to Marca the relationship between Steven and Rafa is well deteriorated, and they had several clashes through out the season.

* According to Marca, Benitez continuing in Liverpool is a key factor in order Steven leaves.

* Liverpool needs money.

Well I don't know if we sell, but I know that Madrid environment has decided Gerrard will be their star target for this summer, which is worrying. Watching Alonso in that fúcking team was painful enough, watching Gerrard and Arbeloa too there under Mourinho is even more painful.

I thought I hated Madrid before that bellend went there to manage them but I despise them even more now.

Wish they could be wiped off the face of the planet.

Reina: "I hope Gerrard doesn't join Real Madrid and he stays at Liverpool a long time, that he stays with all of us the rest of his career" he said in the press conference.

On Real Madrid interest:

"I reckon there could be something about it, I reckon the interest on Gerrard is real because Mourinho knows him well and he's a footballer that can play in any team of the world. Gerrard is on the elite, among the best 10 players of the world because he's a very complete footballer. I wish they don't sign him up" he added showing his wishes.

Translation from

http://www.marca.com/2010....42.html

Well I hope Gerrard stays and he doesn't start a chain reaction.

i'm feeling an air of inevitability about it now. for some reason the vast majority of players dream of one day playing for 'the biggest club in the world' (otherwise known as that bunch of mercenary twáts in white) and i think gerrard is among them. he has also considered playing for mourinho before and there is not much of a secret that there is a deep mutual respect.

gerrard also sees liverpool on a slippery slope and incapable of winning anything else significant in the next 2 or 3 years, which would take him almost to the end of his time at the top. he's probably seeing this as his last chance to play for real madrid and for mourinho and its a chance of doing both at the same time. he's won every other domestic honour going and wants to add a league title to his collection. personally i don't see the attraction in just heading to the most likely team just to finish the collection, but sadly it seems that most modern footballers only look as far as their own personal medal collection.

sadly i think he's played his last game for us.
