West Ham VS LIVERPOOL - Sun 6 April 2014 - KO 4pm

Liverpool Football Club - Games

Postby LFC1990 » Tue Apr 01, 2014 4:33 pm

I can see the problem with playing Gerrard however I dont think West ham will have that much of the ball for him to have to risk a tackle and a yellow.

This and all of the others remainder games are must wins. even a 0-1 win for us would be fantastic and we march on against Citeh just wish city was still in CL so they would have something else to keep an eye on

Maiga and Morrison are out on loan. O'Brien is injured.
Jarvis, Reid, Tomkins, Johnson and Collins are all doubtful.
So effectively that's their entire defense gone. I hope it stays that way. In fact, I hope they all get food poisoning and feel to need to take a dump during the match.
I also hope Cole, Downing and Carroll bend over for their former team :)

I reckon Sakho should play to keep Carrol quiet

The cut-off date for 10 yellow cards is up to and including the second Sunday in April. Sorry mate if SG collects one against City we lose him for the next two which would mean he would miss Norwich and Chelsea. The rest of the team must do everything possible to protect him.

This is why I advocated him getting one against Sunderland. Miss Spurs and West Ham - no biggie. Free for the remainder of the season.

Talk about walking a tightrope now!

West Ham isn't an easy as some of you may think. I'm really worried about this game. We need to win! Come on!

SCS - It would have take a brave man to go with your suggested strategy. I think I prefer playing him and taking our chances. Hopefully we will be in a position to take SG off at some stage against West Ham. I agree that it is a very tricky situation.

I'm not going to say I'm not nervous about this game, but I don't think it will be one overlooked by Brendan and the team.  As fans, yeah we'll look at it and think of it as a sure win on paper.  Quite sure Brendan and the lads are all focused on
the task at hand.  The next step.

I won't celebrate Rafa going........ but I will be over the moon if Dalglish comes in. League within 2 years if he gets the job, AND YOU CAN QUOTE ME ON THAT.

Is their a game which we aren't nervous about? let's say i wish we keep being nervous till the end of the year. (Meaning we have a title to lose).

West Ham is a tough team to play but.....They will have a problem pressing us with big clumsy Andy and from what i've seen their keeper is pretty sub-average.

When Carroll was fired up he was a handful for even physical defenders like Terry, Ivanovic and Vidic and let's not forget only 12 months ago the likes of Skrtel and Agger were falling apart against the likes of Shane Long, Jonathan Walters and Carlton Cole.
During the last 15 minutes of the Sunderland game they were firing corners and free kicks into our area and we looked all at sea, John O Shea missed a free header from about 4 yards out and you can bet your bottom dollar that if Andy was in that position the ball would be in the net.
The one saving grace is that we have a forward line that allows us to take teams on in a 'we can score more than you' slugging match (which digs us out of a lot of holes) but I wouldn't be surprised if this one ends up close like the Fulham game.
It's important that the players use their loafs, we have got to try and cut off their supply, don't be giving away cheap corners and free kicks and make sure we win the second ball.

I fear this game more than Man City at home.

Defend well and we win the game simple as that.

Well I suppose it was asking a bit much to expect the two petro-dollar clubs to drop points on consecutive weekends, over to us now.

Postby red till i die!! » Sat Apr 05, 2014 9:30 pm

we have been treating all our games like cup finals so i dont expect this to be any different. im sure rodgers has being doing his homework and will have them set up accordingly.
id leave the team as it was v spurs.
agger and skrtel know carroll from his time here so should be able to handle him without the need to introduce sakho who is not match fit and could end up making andy look like a £35mil player.
it might not be as comfortable as we'd like but i think we will do enough to leave with the 3 points  :nod

They have won 6 of their last 9 so they are in decent form (and they drew away at Chelsea just before the start of that run) but they did lose to United at home recently so if that shambolic mob can leave upton park with 3 points so can we.
