I hope I'm wrong and we play them off the park ,but in all seriousness this is a game against a team that can play a bit.

I think we'll win it but there's few (if any) "easy" games in the premiership.

Nothing wrong with a bit of positivity BUT you're right Southampton can play a bit, they've got some decent players. We'll need to be on form to avoid getting mugged.

.

And I'm not confident we can turn any team over with the way we play, esp second half. We need to score 1st.

the lesser teams, like your Southamptons, Swansea and Cardiff are stronger than you can think and can all play a bit.

Swansea, when playing away last night stuffed Valencia, with hindsight I guess we should view the draw at their place as a decent (if still disappointing) result.

as long as we claim 3 points then i couldnt really give a toss what the scoreline is.
southampton at home has got to be a win, coutinho or no coutinho.

Funny match thread Lee, keep 'em up.

Southampton were the last side to beat us (back in March 16th).  :lookaround

Can anyone remember a season in the last 10 years where we were on top of the league for so long?

Let's continue the winning trend 1-0 will do just fine.

Moses & Toure must start for me. hope Sahko can settle in quickly & stop going to ground easily. Rodgers has to address the 2nd half performances, we need to push on for 90 mins & not take our foot of the pedal.

We have to win this one if we have serious ambitions of top four this season.  That's not to say Southampton aren't a decent side or that it will be easy.  Also factor in our missing players: Suarez, Coutinho, ?Agger and Johnson - those are 4 of our nailed on starters and consistently good performers at both ends of the field.

I'd go with 3 at the back as a one off to suit the players we have available....

                                                                      Mignolet

                               Toure                                Skrtel                          Sakho

Henderson                                                                                                            Enrique

                                                    Lucas                              Gerrard

Sterling                                                          Sturridge                                          Moses

Interesting line up JC but using the same personnel I'd favour a 4-5-1 formation for this game.

                                                           Mignolet

Toure                              Skrtl                                       Sakho                       Enrique

                                                            Lucas
Sterling                        Henderson                           Gerrard                          Moses

                                                         Sturridge

That looks ok to me too.  Mainly I just don't want us to play Wisdom at right back and I don't want Aspas to play ahead of Sterling.
