Liverpool v Norwich – Saturday 19 Feb – 3pm

Liverpool Football Club - Games

Postby Eagle » Fri Feb 18, 2022 6:38 pm

3 games in 7 days looked like it caught up with a few on Wednesday and this will the 4th game in a row were we only have 2 recovery days. If we can’t make use of the squad for a home game against Norwich after a tough away Champions League fixture then we never can. We'll need some freshness in the team and maybe protect one or two from injury.

                          Alisson

Trent          Matip          Konate          Tsimikas

     Elliott          Henderson          Keita

         Salah          Firmino          Diaz

Subs: Mane, Ox, Jones, Thiago, Fabinho, Milner, van Dijk, Robertson, Kelleher

Should be a straight forward win this. I'd perhaps give Mane or Salah a rest - both looked tanked against Inter.

Perhaps start Diaz, Bobby and Ox up front, with Mane and Salah in reserve?

Norwich are desperate, it'll be no walkover. The important thing is early goals to kill their spirit then you can rotate.

We should definitely look to rest a few but I don't expect to see a League Cup side starting. I expect two or three, maybe four at best of our main starters to find themselves on the bench, with some of them probably coming on at some point of the match, depending on the result.

We play Leeds at home in midweek before the final against Chelsea, so I expect we'll see some rotation then as well.

Seven changes to the team against Inter.

                                                         Alisson

                                   Gomez     Matip     Van Dijk    Tsimikas

                                             Ox    Henderson    Keita

                                             Salah     Diaz    Mane

Firmino and Trent must be injured not to even make the bench. Hopefully they are ok for the cup final next weekend.

Interesting team selection. Just hope it works. Norwich are fighting for their lives and this may not be as easy as we would like to think. Good to see Diaz starting. The midfield however is somewhat worrying.

Naby needs to stop bottling 50/50 challenges.

Struggling without TTA and Robbo. Gomez offers nothing at right back
