Liverpool Football Club - Games

Postby ycsatbjywtbiastkamb » Thu Aug 26, 2021 6:50 pm

Yes it's very early on in the season so technically it's not a must win or anything but I reckon the title may well end up being decided by who finishes top of the little mini league consisting of Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea and ourselves. Whoever does best in the big head-to-head clashes will probably win the league imo so yes it's very early and yes technically it's not a must win but games of this ilk will probably decide the destiny of the title.
So in other words this game is massive.

They will be right in the mix at the end of the season and we are at home so we have to push for all 3 points. They wont lose too many games this year and are capable of not losing any. The league will come down to who takes the most points out of the matches against the other top sides so we have to take this like it's a final.

Robbo more than likely will go back in and I'd expect Thiago to as well. Not sure about Firmino and we still could be without Fabinho. Hopefully we have a fully fit squad chomping at the bit to lay down a marker  :buttrock

With the home advantage il go for 2.0 to us !!

Agreed with red above, Chelsea are definitely going to challenge for the title this season and if we want to beat them to it we'll probably need to beat them in at least one duel. We shlould use the home crowd and get the 3 points.

Both teams plus the crowd will be up for it.

Big opportunity for the team to stamp their authority on selection for the season when youngsters are starting to come through (Ellliot, Jones, the Greek etc..).

Great opportunity for Jota to kick some ***** and drop some bombs.

2-0 Reds.

I think the title is between us, City and Chelsea. Solskjær is a really average manager so no matter how many players Utd buy I can’t see them finishing top of the league. Chelsea have done really well this summer by making some good money from fringe players, holding on to their key men, and filling a big gap up top by bringing in Lukaku. But I don’t think any team will get 95+ points this season. I can still see plenty of disruption with Covid and surprise results.

Fabinho has been training this week so I’d expect him to come in for Elliott. Robbo probably comes back in for Tsimikas but there will be plenty of opportunities for the Greek scouser once the games start coming every three days. Keita is the man in rhythm having had a full pre-season and having started our first two games so I think Thiago will have to settle for a place on the bench. The only other question is if we bring in Firmino for Jota to make us a bit more robust defending from the front against Chelsea’s 3 CBs who will try to bring the ball into midfield.

Whatever Klopp decides, it's just nice to have some good options after last season when so often we were trying to cobble together a decent starting 11!

Change your mind with Ronaldo on board??

Chelsea game will be tough, but I can see us wining, we just have to keep it tight at the back and finish our chances. It will be a positive statement this early on in the season.

United finished second last season so I don't think you can totally dismiss them but even with Ronaldo on board I cant see them finishing higher than fourth.

This is a Liverpool must win game from a confidence point of view. Won’t be easy and managing Lukaku will be vital. If we are at our best we can win this.
