Was it just because they were down to ten men, or are they Wimbledon in disguise?

Yeah Robbo should have been off earlier, you could tell it was his first game back and as you say Mane, who looked sharp in pre-season, slipped back into the Sadio of last year i.e running into players, flopping on the floor and giving away stupid/frustrating fouls which just allowed Chelsea to run down the clock. Played right into their hands.
Thought Hendo was below par as well.

We were very complacent and it almost cost us the point we did get. Chelsea had a plan in the second half and executed it. We looked like we were happy to pass the ball around where they didn’t have to chase it, or boot it over the top. We were awful in the second. And wtf is with our corners? We have some big guys in there and can’t seem to get it past their first defender or the keeper. That’s not a today problem, that’s been our problem a while and it seems we’re doing nothing about it. A corner may as well be a goal kick for them.
This is a big win for Chelsea, and I think it’s a bit of a reminder where we sit against the big clubs. We are really risking falling behind this season.

Agreed, our left side was awful, especially Mane has been way below par for a while now.

It's also concerning that we still can't penetrate when teams sit back and park the buss, even with ten men like Chelsea today. It might have even been better for us if they didn't have a man less, hence wouldn't have parked the bus like that.

Just pisspoor to have 11 vs 10 for the entire 2nd half and do nothing.
We are so extremely weak against teams that just park the bus as we rely completely on speed and counters and is horrible on creativity and unlocking a defense.

Was thinking that myself.
When it became clear we weren't going to pass through them we should have had more attempts from distance, I'm not talking about ridiculous speculative efforts from all points of the compass im talking about trying to engineer good shooting opportunities for players like Trent and Virgil at the edge of the box. We seemed to be having a bit of joy with that, had their keeper scrambling once or twice.

Really does feel like a loss, still cant believe how we allowed the game to drift in that second half, it wasn't just the team the crowd was surprisingly quiet as well, the crowd should have been trying to lift the players and instil a sense of urgency in them but they went AWOL for long periods in the game too. Chelsea's goal seemed to knock the stuffing out of our fans for pretty much the rest of the game.
I know hindsight is 20/20 but Jurgen should have done something about that left hand side much earlier, given we had the extra man and were dominating the ball he should have brought Kostas on at the beginning of the second half to give us better delivery from the left and he really needs to start recognising when Sadio is having one of those games and not be afraid to take him off. When Sadio starts running into players, flopping on the floor, arguing with the world and giving away silly free kicks just get him off, he never plays himself out of one of those spells so just get him off and get AOC or Gordon on or something.

We've seen this countless times, we have no plan B. We must invest in the best 23-24 year so when our lads are having no impact on goal we have options! We need a plan B. You don't get points for dominating a game.

We still have the same players so its unrealistic to think the same problems dont exist.  None of our forwards are good enough against packed defences and just keep repeating the same stuff over and over like they dont know or are afraid to try something else. It's pointless as well focusing so much on crosses when it's rare someone gets on the end of it.

They are excellent passers of the ball which is why we dominate games but in areas teams are happy to let you play in. We didnt do enough from open play yesterday and relied on them making an error to score. They looked really dangerous on the break and likely to score so the sending off caused them to sit deep which helped us control the game and keep them pinned in.

In hindsight it was a gamble starting Robbo, Bobby and Hendo as they all had to be subbed. We should have made changes to the lads up front because they are the ones struggling to score or create anything for themselves. It's the same story against any team who packs the defence and has a bit of discipline.

I really dont understand why the likes of Salah and Mane are untouchable during games when it's not happening for them.

Anyway it's a point even though we should have done better with the situation but it could have been worse if they didnt have to shut up shop.

Agree with this...it's really concerning that nothing seems to have changed from last year (I know it's early in the season so maybe we will see a different approach).

How many times do we look clueless when we come up against a well organized , well drilled low block or similar? Doing the same thing over and over is just pointless. We needed Keita in the middle to at least try to drive us forward with the ball rather than simply recycling it ad nauseum.

This could be a long season if Klopp and the team don't come up with a different method / adapt better to defensive teams looking to stifle us and then hit us on the break.

Chamberlain can shoot from distance, maybe we should utilise him more if teams are sitting deep. A bit left field I know but how about bringing Konate on and throwing Virgil up top?
