Very impressive. However, should they take over lfc will the club become as artificial as there islands? By that I mean, will it be a case of our success will bought just as chelsea have done? Im hoping that if they do take over they clear our debt, keep the stadium on course to be built and provide enough funds for 1 or 2 quality players each season and let the team gel with the youngsters coming through. I would hate it if we became just like the chavs.

:oh:  At those plans, that is one insane set up.  I really hope we the Americans do sell, these guys look like they can clear debt with pocket change.  Can also spend enough to compete, but not overdue it (hopefully) like Khar mentioned.

We've never gone away Nanny, just letting the others catch up with us for the best part of 20 years, and look within that time we're still the most successful club in England.

From 2010-2030 you'll see Liverpool dominante English football again. 16 league titles, in those 20 years will be won by Liverpool Football Club.
1) You'll Never Walk Alone
2) pass and move is the Liverpool groove
3) FIRST WILL ALWAYS BE FIRST AND SECOND WILL ALWAYS BE NOTHING.
4) If Torres has scored 60 league goals for Liverpool by the start of the 2011/12 season, I'll say he's better than Owen.

I'm sorry to say this guys but I think anyone who wants the Dubai group to take over are mad.  In the end uits all about business to these guys and nothing else.  They are no philanthropic organisation.  The days of buying english football clubs as ahobby are gone.  Abramhovic is the last of his kind, no more will premiership clubs be bought as playthings.  In fact the owner of Chelsea is already bored and now wants a bussiness return.  Liverpool FC is one of the biggest Labels in the world and while the extra league game in other countries has been put on the back burner, the fact it was even considered shows the acknowledged potential which the premier league knows is out there.  The English premiership is the best league in the world and thats partly due to the amount of foreign superstars who play there.  The basic fact is that every other country in the world dislikes the English but for some reason the can't get enough of them and that includes the premier league.  The Bundesleague is on the decline, the Italians are having to rebuild the reputation of serie A and the only other league to compare is La Liga.  But La Liga has no depth to it in terms of every team on their day being able to beat the elite.  That happens in the Premiership often, as we all too well know.  My point is DIC wnat to buy Liverpool as a business investment.  They may be promising huge investment but the fact is so was Hicks and Gillett and they did'nt.  The reason they did'nt is again business and its simple.  Why risk my own money in an unstable and potentially volatile world market, when I can risk someone else's.  The first rule of getting rich, is don't spend your own money, first rule of making money is dont be greedy share with other investors and dont spend your own money the first rule of staying rich is dont spend your own money.  Dic's or Hicks there be no change, except that a tyrant who subjugates and savages his own people will be in charge.[U]

I'm sorry mate, you're gonna have to call me mad.

You wouldn't find many organisations intent on taking over a football club, who don't harbour the ultimate intent of making a profit. DIC are an investment company, so of course they intend to make a return at some point. We represent a long-term project in investment terms, the new stadium being at the crux of the project. How they intend to finance the club is still up in the air, but one assumes that they'll take a different approach having seen from afar how Hicks and Gillett have conducted themselves as our owners with regards to their plans, and the corresponding reaction that their actions have brought from supporters. Their business portfolio is diverse, their access to significant capital with which to finance the club - more than sufficient. The top-brass of the organisation support the club, and I can tell you that they'd be far more professional in their conduct.

Also, I don't realy take your point about La Liga lacking depth in respect of smaller clubs beating the bigger clubs. In that respect, the Premier League is more predictable than La Liga.

The UAE are very clever though.

They know oil isn't going to last forever, so they are diversifying their economy.

Still many social problems though. Islam-related, for the most part.

Hicks should take his big pay off and leave.

I think Moores and Parry also have a lot to answer for. Didn't they know this was going to happen?

If DIC take over, Parry cannot remain at LFC

It's perfectly reasonable to assume that they've been keeping a very close eye on events surrounding the club, it's equally reasonable to assume on the basis of these observations that they will take a different approach to the yanks, in respect of their conduct and plans for the club.

As for the article, there's nothing new there. The UAE is not a western liberal democracy, you can't expect it to hold free and fair elections. The Maktoum regime is ethically questionable, then again, so was Roman Abramovich. In fact, as a general rule of thumb you don't get that rich without being a c....t. at some point.

Diversifying is not the problem, DIC is owned by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum and whilst the article wrote in the link above is patronising and at times annoying, most of it is fact and can be easily googled under UAE human rights.  Hicks and Gillett have ceratinly F***ed things up but can annyone here prove to me that DIC Wont do the same.  At least Hicks is starting to show some commitment and seems to be trying to get Rafa onboard.

So what do you want to do about it Big Al?

I think most supporters have had enough of the Americans, it's gone too far too long to look back now. Most supporters hearts are in for DIC taking
over. I know mine is.

Make no illusions, the yanks are probably no better
than the Arabs when it comes to human rights.
