LIVERPOOL FC season ticket prices were finally announced today, revealing a rise of just over 7%.

Kop seats are £680 online (£732 at window), with the Main Stand, Paddock and Centenary Stands £732 online (£785 at window) and the Anfield Road end, £722 (£774 at window), according to letters dropping through fans’ letterboxes.

The long-awaited details came as a new report showed Liverpool are the third highest paying club for player wages in the Premier League, up 18% in 2008/9.

The season ticket prices are understood to be based on purchases being made prior to June 25 with the rises not as severe as many had feared following the delay making the prices public.

Liverpool FC declined to confirm the figures this morning.

One 50-year-old Kop season ticket holder, from Maghull, said: “We usually have the early-bird prices by just after the end of the season, we don’t understand the wait.”

Also today were reports that Liverpool owner Tom Hicks had turned down two promising offers to buy the club due to his refusal to buckle from his asking price.

to be fair, most of the top 6 have raised their ticket prices over the last couple of months.

Don't know if this has been posted...

Hicks scuppers two 'perfect fit' offers for Liverpool - Exclusive

Tom Hicks has allegedly scuppered at least two 'perfect fit' offers for Liverpool, because of his unreasonable asking price.

Sources at Barclays Capital, who have been charged with selling the Anfield club, have revealed their private frustration at the American owner's unyielding stance in negotiations.

An insider revealed to the Mirror that they have found "exciting investors" they believe have the money and standing to buy the club and take them forward, despite the massive debts run up by Hicks and Gillett. One of the offers has come from the Middle East, and another is a consortium led by a prominent American businessman.

But, so far, the staggering valuation of almost £800million placed on Liverpool by their Texan co-owner has proved an insurmountable stumbling block, because potential buyers are refusing to pay his price.

A source working on the sale of the Merseyside club for BarCap revealed privately: "We have found more than one really good fit investors, who have the wealth not to worry about a few hundred million quid.

"But they will not be held to ransom, because they know the asking price is unreasonable, and they simply don't want to be taken for a ride, no matter how rich they are."

There is a growing fear amongst those close to the deal that Hicks' business empire has been suffering in the global economic crisis, and that is motivating his hard-line stance over a price.

But it is claimed that BarCap are losing patience with the valuation, even though they accept that the sales document put together by the club makes impressive reading.

A source for the investment firm suggested that the figures 'add up', even before a new stadium is being built, but that has persuaded Hicks to hold out for more money.

His partner, George Gillett, is willing to accept a more reasonable offer to enable him to get out of the club, and escape the angry campaign against them from disenchanted supporters.

Hicks though, remains the massive obstacle to the deal, and that could persuade the club's lenders the Royal Bank of Scotland, to step in and take action.

The RBS have given an undertaking to extend their current loan of £237million to the Americans for another 12 months.

But worried by reports from BarCap about the difficulty in finding the right price to tempt a buyer, the bank are considering making an ultimatum to Hicks and Gillett.

The RBS are increasingly frustrated at the process, and sources close to the deal are suggesting there is a chance they will offer the Americans an ultimatum of finding a buyer "within months", or they will pull the plug on the loans.

It could well take RBS to sort this mess out. The owners are clearly holding out for a major pay day, but they won't get it.

I think the WORST case scenario here will be RBS issuing a payment date for the whole loan. both of the owners would be forced to accept the best deal they could find in the time line and sell up.

That's what i think will happen.

Burn their flag !!

Errrrr...hang on....that's been done already.....

Fecks sake - if the FA can't do anything about these kuntz, looks like RBS is gonna have to step in.

Out of interest, I know there was a documentary the other night on the Scum and the financial peril they're in - wonder if there's any chance we might see something similar on LFC....

So how do we all feel about this:

A group from Abu Dhabi buying the club?

The other half of the family that own Man City - starting bid of £490m, including assurances for an immediate start on the stadium and transfer funds.

The Premier League clearing the deal in principal, allowing one family (of parts of a family) to own 2 clubs in the same division.

Purslow and Ayre to stay at the club, Broughton to leave and be replaced by a permanently resident new Chairman.

Using NDA's a new manager is already selected and ready to be installed, working closely with Carragher to transition him into a full time coaching role.

All debts written off and finance for players until the stadium is completed, then the club running on a sustainable business model, similar to Arsenal but with contingent funds available to bring in superstar players.

_

Finer details:

Abu Dhabi see the north west as a sporting / football centre of excellence

They see us a potentially higher profile than City and their ability to expand the TV deal further around the globe and combat online streaming.

As the PL are not objecting to the deal, it adds credibility and the PL want further support from organisations that will strengthen the league, in comparison to Spain and Italy.

So, that's it. The news I've been waiting to post - the Chinese thing that I've mentioned before was wrong, I got it wrong. This is all based on my ITK contact, working out of London, in connection with Barclays. I've had firm confirmation from my ITK at RBS that something is definitely happening but they did not confirm Abu Dhabi, they did confirm the amounts and sustainability plan.

Additionally, I have no idea if Amanda Steveley is involved but I do know of a brokerage / fund management group in Mayfair, London having been out to gulf in relation to this deal.

I don't have a firm time scale for the close, I think things seem quite advanced. That's a personal feeling only. Again, personally I think Rafa going was the final hurdle to the deal being done. I think he was asked to leave because he'd indicated the he'd be prepared to talk to Inter, if there was uncertainty about his role at the club. I think it was mutual in every sense of the word and that Inter has been his destination of choice since the Hull match. I do not know who the next manager will be.

Finally, before today I had not seen Abu Dhabi mentioned in any despatches. It's a compelling prospect and I trust my source. Although, I'd be lying if I didn't say I had a gut feeling for Qatar first and Dubai second - I'm not covering my bases, just being honest. So unless anyone knows otherwise, Abu Dhabi looks likely to be it.

I hope I've been as upfront as possible and that Abu Dhabi is clear favourite.

Nan - is this likey -palease say yes - Dawsonio said something similar yesterday?
