What a player. What a player, I cant describle how good the man is.  Seriously, without sounding like im having a Tom Hank over him, the man is a genius. Without doubt the best player in the world at the minute. 17 goals is it this year already? Countless assists. Without the man , I dread to think where we would be.

Just have to say this. We are nothing if we have no stevie. What a great player. Plays with pure passion. I just hope he does end up with a premiership medal. Such a talent deserves one. Dont think we will be able to replace him though. Without him i think we would be far off a title hunt.

Gerrard signs new 4 year deal

Some good news to report and maybe get talking about football again instead of all this in house fighting, club captain Gerrard has signed up for another 4 years which keeps him here till he is 33, no wonder he looked so happy in them pictures with Johnson earlier  :D

Steven Gerrard has taken another step towards ending his career as a one-club man after last night putting pen to paper on a new four-year contract with Liverpool.

The deal, which ties the Huyton-born captain to Anfield until the age of 33 and will cost the club around £30m, was initially announced by Liverpool in April but formally concluded only upon Gerrard's return to pre-season training at Melwood yesterday.

The midfielder had left the contract on hold during Liverpool's pursuit of Manchester United for the Premier League title last season, then departed for World Cup duty with England and a holiday before officially committing himself to Anfield until 2013. There were also minor contractual details to be resolved despite the club's announcement of an agreement in April.

Gerrard still had two years remaining on a contract worth £120,000 a week and his new deal, believed to have increased his wage to £140,000 a week, may ensure he completes his professional playing career solely as an employee of Liverpool. The 29-year-old recently announced this contract is likely to be his last.

The England international follows Yossi Benayoun in signing a new contract with Liverpool this week, while the manager, Rafael Benítez, Fernando Torres, Dirk Kuyt and Daniel Agger have all committed their long-term futures to Anfield in recent months.

Fantastic news, our best and most important player well and truly secured. In these worrying times when it looks like we may lose one or both of our central midfielders, we all need something to cheer us up a bit. News like this is just the tonic we need. Losing Alonso or Masherano would be a blow, but losing Gerrard would be a disaster, top work from the manager for making this a priority.

We were never going to lose Gerrard now, seems a bit early to be hanging up his boots at 33 though, I'm sure he could go on to around 35 at least
