STEVEN GERRARD - Official Thread

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

My only problem with Stevie is the fact that he hated playing on the right flank yet was amazing in that position. We looked very potent during Rafa's second season with Gerrard on the right but sadly player power defined where he was to play the following seasons. This was in part dictated by the media claiming that the player was unhappy in the role given to him by the manager. This is something that if our current dilema continues may raise its head again.

Well I remember when he signed his latest contract he said that he had learned a lot from Rafa and he admitted he was wrong to argue about his position.

I think he is better than anyone else we have on the right. He creates more chances there and has probably the best cross on the team except maybe Aurelio.

In the attacking midfielder position he is in at the moment he is more influential and more capable of changing the game.

What the problem has been recently is that he is marked out of games by a defensive midfielder. I think once he starts playing with Aquilani he will have more freedom and I would like to see him maybe go out onto the wings a little bit more when Aquilani comes forward.

I dunno mate. All I know is I really really miss watching him wearing the red shirt out on the field atm :(. Hopefully he can avoid an operation, but the longer the uncertainty goes on, the more I fear it is necessary.

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard admits he doesn't like seeing former teammate Michael Owen running around for Manchester United.

The pair came through the ranks together at Anfield.

And Gerrard told FourFourTwo magazine: "I don't like it. It's weird and doesn't look right.

"I played with him in the red of Liverpool since I was 10, so to see him in the red of United is difficult for me.

"Obviously it was a chance he needed to take so I wish him well personally - but I do not want United to do well at all."

Come back soon Stevie lad
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

Okay what is going on with Gerrard at the moment

He is having a shocking season so far. I know he has been injured in parts and his game time has been a bit stop start, but for me that is no excuse. Players like Lucas get all the stick when a result dosent go are way but in fairness Gerrard has been one of our worst performers this year.

His body language in some of the games this year, as Emerald red pointed out in a different thread, has been nothing short of disgraceful. If things dont go his was, or he dosent get the pass he was hoping for, he lets it be know the the player in no uncertain terms. Constantly frowning and with a look of dissatisfaction. In his mind is he too big for us?

Has it come to a stage in his career that he has more to offer to the world of football then what we as a football club can offer him? Should he move on?

Im not saying I think we should sell Gerrard - far from it, im one of his biggest fans and on his day believe that he is up there as one of the best players in the world, however his performances this season have been far from the player we know and worship. Against Arsenal on Sunday, in the second half he was non existant and against Everton in the derby a few weeks ago he was the worst player on the field, not chasing anything down and it refusing to go into tackles he would normally dive into. And this in a fixture he normally throws everyting into and has got sent off a few times for his over exuberance.

I really hope in a few weeks or even tomorrow night against Wigan that this post looks stupid and I have been made to look a bit silly with what i have said, but at the moment from where im looking there is something wrong. Can we please have the real Steven Gerrard back - we need him.

Gerrard is a sensitive and often moody person. Outside problems affect him. Usually if hes having a dip in form you can connect it to something thats happened off the field.
Hasnt his brother just been nicked for drug dealing?
???

I think Gerrard's injured and if he requires OP, he should do it now for the sake of his World Cup ambition as we are no longer challenging for the EPL title. At least he can go all out for a WC medal in probably his last WC. I think LFC owe him that.

I literally spent the last 25 seconds just imagining if we had 2 Gerrards both playing for us. :D I guess we could always sign his brother Anthony. I think he scored the other night no? :D

Funny if he had a little peek down the shorts and they had given him a man-gina.
Dont judge a book by the cover, unless you cover just another, because blind exceptance is a sign,

You never know - maybe he did!  He does look a bit nonplussed in the first photo :)
