is your source on the previous page?  :D

This sucks, just as we're getting a squad together and can get everyone gelled together before next season, a key player gets injured, typical

LFC can today confirm that Steven Gerrard has undergone successful surgery on his groin and will be out for up to four weeks.

The decision was made following consultation with a specialist.

Another op for Gerrard and rest assured this will not be the last injury for him, far from it. We have to face up to the fact that he will not be available for large parts of next and coming seasons so this summer we have to find someone of the same type to step and eventually replace him. No good waiting until hes completely finished, and now is the time to introduce his successor into the team and learn the ropes. Hes showing signs of wear and tear now after years of carrying Liverpool so we will have to be careful with him to esnure he plays, and plays well, for as long as is possible.

when he's not scoring every game, he's considered to be in bad form. but at least he's not a liability as his stand-in/s is/are likely to be.
need him back to his best next season.
this season is still a write-off, even tho the king has raised our hopes about possible (unlikely) ecl qualification
we've only won it 5 times

i hope the club takes their time with his recovery and he comes back sorted.
even though he hasnt been playing well of late his presense on the pitch and influence on the team will still be missed.
almost mid march now and missing him for the rest of the season would be worth it if he is injury free and hits the ground running in august
and by then hopefully we will have a few new faces in as well and are in a position to make a right go at challenging for the league.

Timing is :censored:, but then injuries always are.

We will miss him despite eveeyone else in the squad. I dont know what it is about him, but even off form when he is not in the team we look a shadow of what we can be when he is in the team.

Irriplaceable imo. When this guy retires we are gonna have a massive hole to fill. He is a unique one off

To prolong his Liverpool career Stevie G should take advice from Kenny.  During the 1982 World Cup in Spain Kenny was dropped by Scotland.  I remember distinctly the panel on t.v. commenting afterwards that his international career may be over.  He was 31 at the time.

The following January Kenny was recalled to international duty and he responded by scoring two goals against Belgium, one of which was one of the best goals i've ever seen.  He also won the footballer of the year award a few months later.  Then, he reinvented himself as a creator of goals and spent the next few years turning Ian Rush into the most prolific goalscorer english football has ever seen.

The moral here is that the days of Stevie Gerrard single handedly winning games for us may be on the wane but he still has loads to offer.  Kenny will know this better than anyone !
