New to this forum, lads so be nice - delighted that Liverpool had signed another Irish player but i have never been overly impressed with Keane - especially when playing for the national side.  He also seems to spend too much time giving out to refs and looking for a free instead of staying on his feet.  Up to now he has failed to change my mind but i suppose there is a need to get familar with his new teammates and get to grips with exactly how Rafa wants him to play.  I only hope that he gives up his theatrics (Gerrard and Carragher will beat that out of him) and proves all his doubters wrong -  ???

Judge Keane when he's actually being given the ball i say.
Dont judge a book by the cover, unless you cover just another, because blind exceptance is a sign,

20+ million for Robbie though is mad money IMHO, just like 18 mil for Barry is a farce. Keane's always been strong for Spurs, but he disappears for the National side quite often. I know that's no guage for the premiership, but it's still a worry.

I still can't wait to see how the pair (Torres & Keane) flesh out during the season.

A fellow Dub - welcome the best LFC fans forum there is, mate...
Though I have to say, if his performances for Liverpool are anything like those for the Rep., then I'd happily sell him to the knacker's yard along with Voronin.
I've a pain in me hoop watching Keane disappear from games, moan at the ref, fall down when a defender breathes on him etc...And there's no way I'd tolerate that for Liverpool (yeah, like I have any say in the matter  :upside:  )

A dub...afraid so....some of us have to be  :;):

Yep, I agree. He disappears too often and I hope that'll change for Liverpool. I was hoping to see some fireworks last night, but it wasn't to be.

Roll on the weekend....I think.

Definately a good signing, even though the fee was a joke.

I agree mate.

He looks a little lost at the minute and a bit confused, but he's played some execellent passes and shown good vision on occassions and link up play (which is what we bought him for).

He will definately get there though. Theres no danger of him being a flop thats sure in my mind.

Think he has all the qualities to help get the best out of Torres and I think his ability to turn and play clever and quick one-two's will help us immensely in terms of breaking teams down.

I know its age old thing but he just needs time to gel with torres to learn his off the ball movement more they play together better they will get.

Only thing i felt let down with keane is he always has to pass the ball with dead weight , some times you gotta just hit it harder to feet because no matter how good at passing you are you miss judge some times. Alot of the attacks broke up because of that on wensday.

But he will come good and he will bag 15 goals this season in prem and europe and get 10 + assists.

Get 1 yellow card vrs chavski

Score winner vrs man u at home.

Get hat trick vrs spurs.

I certainly hope he does all those, and more. In fairness to Keane (and Torres), there wasn't a lot they could do. The SL defence was well organised and gave them no room, there was little chance of playing a pass more than five or ten yards, and there was no decent feed from midfield. That's what worries me, the whole team was closed down as an attacking force Tommy Cooper style (just like that)

Whether a pacy winger or skilled dribbler in midfield could have unlocked that defence I don't know, maybe we should give credit to the SL manager for getting his tactics right and their players for executing them. We tend to make more chances against the mancs, not that we've been great at taking them

If people are judging him on his display against Standard Liege, just remember Torres didn't do anything either. It probably has something to do with the fact that neither of them got the ball more than twice all game...

I think the problem so far with Keane is that he has made quite a step up. At Spurs, although they are a very attacking team, he had to do alot of the work himself along with Berbatov. Having our team around him is a huge step up, playing next to Torres who is very similar in nature will prove difficult at first, getting used to the tema dynamic, our attacking philosophy is quite different also. Once he knows the the passes we make the runs players make vice versa I think we wiill have quite a triangle of an attack.

Torres, Keane and Gerrard. I dont think Keane will disrupt Gerrard it will give him an extra avenue.

Or he will be a complete failure and a waste of 20 million and therefore Benitez will go.

Keane to me is a good support striker for a target man, not so much torres. That aside i still reckon keane has a lot of fight left in him and that him and torres will eventually get in sync and produce a great partnership :blues:

It worked well with Berbatov, not so sure it will with Torres to the same degree. What they badly need is supply, do we have enough creativity in midfield?

Personally I'm not over the moon with this transfer. I think we could have done a lot better for 20mil. There are players out there like Pandev, who is scoring for fun in Italy, Gudjohsen, a proven Prem striker not getting his chance at Barca, you have Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, who I don't like, but is still a great player, and many more strikers who are as good, if not better than Keane.

Now I really, really hope I'm wrong and he gets plenty of goals this season(15+ would be excellent for me) and he forms a great partnership with Torres.

Having watched his first few games for us, I stand by my initial assessment of him, overpriced but a good player, just not a creative second striker like everyone seems to think.
