I'd put Fowler above Stevie, just opinions and all that

when Stevie threatened to go to Cheatski he lost some of my opinions on him to be honest

How many players have been the undesputed best player at a club for as long as Gerrard ? Only now with the arrival of Torres has that ever been really questioned. All the others INCLUDING Dalglish have had real competition, Gerrard has been head and shoulders above the rest since Owen left.

Top player and is without doubt IMO one of the best 3 players to play for us. I would actually put him second behind Dalglish, just pipping Souness and Rush.

I'll just name 3 that were better for this club than Gerrard that I've seen play...

Hunt
Dalglish
Rush

Ah but didn't you know that the latest is always the best...........................

Obviously I missed his best years, but I still wouldn't put him above StJohn, never mind some of the great players we have seen since.

by the end of 1968 Roger Hunt had given the club his best years.

St John a better servant to Liverpool....coming from the s@int ???

Perhaps you would...I will now put David Fairclough above SG in my rankings :D

Why have they given more for the club mate ?

They were great servants without doubt, but its alot easier to stay at a club thats dominating and winning the big trophies every season.
I am not saying any of the players you have mentioned would have left but Stevie hasnt even got one league medal and could have left to join any club in the world if he wanted, but hasnt.
He has been at the club since he was about 9 so has given us 20 years.
You dont get much more committed than that really.

And shut it ye southern fairy  :D

You can't dispute that he has gone completely AWOL on many occasions over the past two seasons expecially. Or his penchant for diving in the box for no reason known to man. Or - dare I say it - his very, very questionable insistence on taking every deadball within 30 yards of the opposition goal....
I like the guy, but he shouldn't be put blindly up on a pedestal like you have just done...

Agree with you on the SG stance...hasn't played the captain fantastic role, that the media and some members on this site like to portray.... If you watch him at the game,in the flesh,in front of your eyes on the pitch, not on a telly in Timucktooland, you can see how lazy and lackadaisical his attitude can be sometimes..he certain lacks the ability to encourage and cajole his team-mates or captain the team at all...his only verbal contributions in most cases seem to be to berate a player for not passing to him...

i've always said this though. i argued that he doesn't need an armband to inspire by his performances on the pitch. carra should have been captain five years ago as he's a more natural leader but then the problem with him now is that his form hardly even merits a place in the side. hyypia and alonso were also natural leaders and now we're left with mascherano and reina as possible alternatives.

It doesnt worry me too much is captain. If we have natural leaders on the pitch anyway but they are not captain thats not a problem to me.

For what its worth i dont think stevie is a great captain, he isnt a player that gets the players going enough when the chips are down but i dont really see a reason to change it if we have Pepe leading from the goal, Carra in front and Masher in the middle.

Au contraire, mon ami....
What should be happening, especially in the crisis we are in, is that the Captain is kicking seven shades of shyte out of the underperformers out there. We want him leading by example. We want him to grab the lads - before Rafa strolls onto the training ground, or after Rafa has left the stadium - and telling his colleagues what's what. That's what a leader of men does.
Look at Roy Keane a few years back, roasting his teammates for underperforming and demanding they cop themselves on. Stuart Pearce way back in the 90's. Batty during his time at Leeds. Vieira leading by example for the Gooners....
We don't have one o' them....sadly...

I'm just moaning, I'm not Stevies biggest fan since the Cheatski saga. I just feel he's the one in charge of what happens a lot more than people think.
I'd just like him to come out and say something positive, he knows how us fans are feeling
