Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Who crossed the ball to Crouch when he got brought down?
Who crossed the ball when Crouch missed the free header on the 6 yard box?
Who kept the ball in play through anticipation and determination to cross it to Crouch (and through desperate defending he was denied) which in turn fell for Alonso?

In how many minutes of play? I think that he did pretty well :)

Good assesment Stu. Carra nd Sami were immense, and it's a toss up for who is MOM between the two of them. David Pleat said during the match said they are as good as any pairing in the Premiership, and I'd have to agree.

Good result. :) :)

Zenden would be more of a goal threat than Sissoko IMO... So would be a good reason to play him in the centre along side Alonso (who has become an awesome anchorman) when playing against weaker oppositions....

Alonso looks to have sewn up the anchor-man role. Can't see much future for hamann (unless his experience could be vital in european games).

Generally a decent all round performance and a deserved 3 points although at times it looked as though we were going to come away with sod all .
I was disappointed with the poor quality of through balls that were fed to Cisse when he was out wide and clearly had the beating of the Villa defender , I was even more disappointed when on almost all the occasions he did get clear the rest of the team seemed to be waiting for a taxi to take them into the Villa box .Surely Morientes must realise that when Cisse is out wide there's at least a 50/50 chance a decent cross will follow and he (Morientes) should be busting a gut to get to the six yard box. Although I was against the signing of Crouch he is at least contributing far more than Morientes who barring a dramatic upturn in form and application will surely soon be packing his suitcase.

Some people think football is a matter of life and death. I don't like that attitude. I can assure them it is much more serious than that.        BILL SHANKLY

overall deserved win, in the end. after the substitutions(well executed) things improved. gerrard edged hyypia for M.O.M.

REINA . 7 solid performance if not busy. quick out.

FINANN . 7 reliable and supported attack fairly well
CARRAGHER .8 swept, blocked and intercepted all threats
HYYPIA  .8 vital outstretched leg and composed in defence
RIISE  .7 good work at LB. not as assertive going forward as in midweek

GERRARD . 8 out of position? doesnt tell.at times, a beacon.
ALONSO . 7 after the subs he improved vastly.great strike
SISSOKO  .5 seems a bit lacking. first touch was poor.
GARCIA  .6 not as effective when hurried. ok, if not creative.

MORIENTES .6 few good link ups but was slow at getting in the danger zone.
CISSE  .6 wasted at least three chances. fair wide play.

ZENDEN. 7 looked lively and key to the goals.
CROUCH  .7 missed good chances but was effective elsewhere.
KEWELL  .6 slowly picking up pace, but did ok considering..

RAFA  8  had the keys on the bench to unlock villa. although up until then we were sluggish and unimaginative. rafa played his hand well.

I have to give Alonso more than 7 for sure. He tackle, pass well and scored a goal. Maybe a 9. You can disagree of course  :p

Good point, and that's not to be mean with the people we don't watch Liverpool in the Stadium. I'd say that TV watchers comment what they see, and can make good points about it. I.e. Crouch's bad header.

But in the stadium you get that and much more, there's a lot going on while a  camera is focusing on the man who's controlling the ball.
