Cue the yellow strip on SSN saying Reina picks up serious injury!!!   :p

TBH at this very moment I put him above Casillas as probably THE best keeper in Europe if not the World. In the past two weeks Casillas has been very poor for Madrid, flapping at crosses and not really dominating his area at all.

I grew up watching Brucie Grobelaar between our sticks and although not up there along side Clemence he was a top keeper in my books and Reina is the best thing we've had between the sticks since him. Against Blackburn yesterday he showed his agility to tip a fierce shot onto the cross bar when a lot of keepers would've been beaten.
The fact that Pepe's been at the top end of the goalkeeping charts every season he's been here speak volumes for his qwality!  :D

For me is the best keeper of the world with the foots. In fact I would say he is the best playing with the foots ever.

There might be 2 or 3 better than him under the sticks, but there's no better keeper for Liverpool's game, I wouldn't swap him for any keeper.

Probably best player of season.

It's not only that his numbers as a keeper are like scoring 25 goals for a striker. It's not only his strenght with his foot. It's not only his arms have started dozens of counter attacks.

In a goal kick, he's fúcking accurate. So the defence can set their line wherever they want and the second line of players will know where to place themselves. 94% of the time.

Look at a team with a poor goal kicker, and you'll see how that will affect their confidence and solidness. That gives you a lot of confidence as a team, and either you control the ball coming from Reina, or your able to start the pressing to the other team in a very favourable position for you (and uncomfortable for them).

Lose Reina, put a great keeper like Casillas and you might lose an important part of the reasons why we're solid.

Despite Petar thinks goalies are for losers, I think that's bóllocks and we should praise Reina more. Reina is much more important in the team than Alonso, as while it would be very difficult to improve what Alonso gives us with a signing, in the case of Reina it's almost impossible, even if I think in the likes of Casillas.

Probably amongst the best £6.5m Rafa has spent.

If we were a selling club we could easily double our money on him now if not more.

P.S.
If Twit 'n Twat are reading this, Don't get any ideas!!!

Excellent keeper and still so young. Surely one of Rafa's greatest signings. Keep it up Pepe  :bowdown

From Setanta.com

IF, and it’s a big ‘if’, Liverpool win the league title this season, Saturday’s victory over Blackburn will be one of those dates you look back on and think: “That was a pivotal moment.”

Liverpool came away with so much more than three points from Ewood Park this weekend. Victory meant they had broken their goal drought, victory showed that they aren’t about to bottle it as soon as they hit top spot, and victory sent out a message that Rafa’s Reds will take some catching.

It could have all been so different though.

As each individual Liverpool player returned triumphantly to the changing room on Saturday, every one of them should have given a huge pat on the back to one man: Pepe Reina.

The Spaniard produced the equivalent of a 25-yard Steven Gerrard piledriver in the first half at Ewood, making arguably the save of the season from Morten Gamst Pedersen. Seriously, make sure you see it. The ball is arcing more than a boomerang, Xabi Alonso’s body language suggests it’s in, but Reina dives full stretch to tip onto the bar.

A fantastic save, which was only usurped by the importance of it. After two goalless draws, Liverpool were lacking in confidence, creating little, and requiring inspiration in the first half. Had they have gone a goal down, few would have backed them to turn it around.

Reina’s save, in all likelihood, has kept Liverpool top of the table – and it’s not the first time he’s pulled out a ‘worldy’ this season.

Liverpool fans only have to cast their minds back to the Fulham match to recall Reina’s fingertip stop from Jimmy Bullard. Another huge save which earned The Reds a point, the point that currently sees them top the league.

Speaking in general terms, your title challenge is only as good as your goalkeeper. Chelsea have had Petr Cech, Manchester United had Edwin van der Sar, Arsenal had David Seaman and Jens Lehmann.

I use the word ‘had’ because Cech is a shadow of his former self, while Van der Sar has looked past his best all season. Reina is the league’s top keeper.

The Spaniard has won the Premier League’s golden glove in each of the last three seasons. He’ll win it again this year. Much of that is down to his defence but, as he showed on Saturday, Reina is every bit as important.

Steven Gerrard once tipped Pepe as a future Liverpool captain. But if Reina’s class gets the rewards it deserves – he’ll be lifting the league title long before he ever wears the armband.

Liverpool legend Ray Clemence believes Anfield keeper Pepe Reina is an unsung hero as Rafa Benitez's team push for glory in Europe and the Premier League.

The Spain international has kept 18 clean sheets for the Reds in all competitions this season, displaying a safe pair of gloves behind a tough defence marshalled by Jamie Carragher.

Clemence, who starred in front of the Kop as Liverpool won a string of trophies in Europe and on the domestic front, is convinced the 26-year-old Spaniard deserves his place alongside fellow icons such as Bruce Grobbelaar, Jerzy Dudek and Tommy Lawrence.

And the former England goalkeeper reckons Reina should be handed his share of the praise which is usually showered on Fernado Torres and Steven Gerrard for their match-winning performances.

'Reina plays behind a well-organised defence and has proven to be an excellent goalkeeper both in the Premier League and in Europe,' Clemence said.

'Like all goalkeepers at Liverpool, he is not overworked but when he is called upon he is capable of making exceptional saves.

'He is part of Liverpool's success this year and while Torres and Gerrard have hit the headlines, the importance of the work carried out by the likes of Pepe Reina must not be overlooked.' Clemence believes his old club may have left it a little bit late to stop Manchester United retaining their Premier League title - despite Saturday's thumping 4-1 victory at Old Trafford at the weekend.

But he believes Benitez's boys must keep battling away so they are in a position to pounce if Sir Alex Ferguson's team crack under the pressure.

'There is a fair bit of the season still to and there is a lot to do if Liverpool are to win the title,' Clemence added.

'A lot of Liverpool fans think it was their year to regain the title and will feel their chance has drifted away but there is still an outside chance and they look strong in the Champions League so there is everything to play for.

'If Liverpool win every game left in the league and put the pressure on United then who knows?

'Manchester United have have a four-point lead and a game in hand at home, so realistically it looks as if they will be seven points clear when all is said and done.

'They need to lose a couple of games or draw five or six of them and I believe they don't have any side in the top ten play away so it is a big ask for anyone to catch them. But who said football is a funny game?'

I've recovered the thread of Reina with Dundalk's .
forum index

In the above article you can see Clemence saying Reina is an unsung hero, and I have to agree, as always, Goalkeepers do not get as much credit as they deserve.

Reina has beaten another record, this time of clean sheets.

The other day he suffered in the penalty to the Manc and noticed it in the rest of the game, but his dodgey days are rare, normally he gives us a much needed security.

We shouldn't take for granted his power with the kick, it's exceptional both in strenght and accuracy. People are surprised to see goals like the one of Dossena or Riera, but it's a consequence of modern football and quality players: Oppositions push up, they put their line advanced to diminish spaces, and sometimes Reina will get the ball early, his long kick, and the quality of our players means the unavoidable: problems for the opposition.

It's good to frighten the oppo teams with that kind of play as you destroy much of their confidence to push up.

It was fun to see Carra telling Reina yesterday to Reina to chill down when he was going to try it again with the score 5-0 :D it was as if he was saying "FFS Reina, give them a rest!" :D

Great Keeper we have here mates  :nod
