I wouldn't be surprised if next season we end up with a new front line, maybe just Diaz there.

Well we are heading that way anyway. You do have point about Salah, only thing surprises me how he hasn't got injured amount of games his played.

I feel like he is playing for a contract this year which means next year he won’t be as good. He’s lost the youthful intensity he had when he first came and he will get worse as time goes. He will leave a big honest in the numbers department so we need to make sure the other players can take up the slack. I do think it is time to part ways.

Come on guys, let's not over react. One thing worth mentioning is that muslims are currently fasting, not eating or drinking until sundown, which surely negatively impacts Salah's recent performances. Not an excuse but something to have in mind.

Second, from footballing aspect I can't see why someone would want him gone. Yes if he's not scoring or assisting he's practically useless, but he literally contributes to more than half of our scored goals. It's very easy to say get rid but can someone provide a solution HOW are we going to replace those numbers once he's gone?

I also wouldn't give him a contract with a big basic wage raise as he's only going to decline at that age, but I'd definitely keep him on the same wages for a season or two more since I doubt we'd be able to replace the numbers he provides. In any event that's just fantasy thinking I guess and he's most likely gone come the summer anyway.

Good point about Ramadan. It surely doesn't help the older he gets.  His goals and assists would be greatly missed but they will dissappear at some point anyway. He should be managed better and not playing practically every minute. That cant continue if he stays. We shouldn't be so reliant on him at 32 but recruitment has been poor. Nunez looks no closer to being a decent striker. Jota is a bench player. Diaz is very inconsistent and Gakpo is a bit soft. Maybe having salah in the side hampers their game or something because everything goes through Mo.

I think he is one of our best players and the loss of his numbers will certainly have an impact but we have to look in the long term. If he produces 40 goal contributions per season we need to find a way to spread that number amongst the other players and I do think that if Salah leaves others will shine more (remember that he took 9 penalties this season so far). My motivation for wanting to let him leave is purely logical rather than emotional, it’s always hard letting a leader leave but fitness is not eternal and fresh blood needs to come in or you die as a team. As for him being rotated… I can’t see it happening without a big sulk and that’s not good for team morale.

Suarez left, Owen left, Gerrard left etc. Players leave and it should be done on the clubs terms and not the player’s. Sad for the fans but the club moves on and those players become memories. Nothing gets you over the last one like the next one.

there are good players out there that in this team would go to the next level, we've just got to be willing to spend on them and I don't think that's gonna happen anytime soon. Isak, Julian Alvarez the list goes on but they cost money, top money

The reason I'd like us to keep the likes of Salah, Virgil etc. as long as possible is because I don't think we have the capacity to replace them. Had we signed that lad Marmoush for example I wouldn't be against letting Salah go since we'd already have signed a goalscoring replacement. But as it stands, we'd have to spend ridiculous money, money we probably don't have, in order to sign a decent replacement. Like Leeroy says above me every player we'd want would be in the region of 100m or more.

Also, we're at a risk of losing too many players at once. It's not just Salah that would leave but Trent is certainly leaving and maybe Virgil as well, all three worth millions would leave on bossman. Plus, rumors of Konate leaving too since he'd be on his last year next season. So we might end up with 4 key players leaving with almost nothing in return for us, that would be a massive exodus right after winning the league, we'd look like some small club that acidentally achieved something and everybody else takes our top players right after that, like we're f*cking Leicester.

Even if Salah and Virgil stay we still have to find replecements for Trent, Robbo and Nunez, we already have plenty of work to do. It just isn't the right time to be losing these players.

How many times have we said we should bring in or replace one big player every summer to avoid losing 3-4 key players every 3 years?

People say Robbo's lost his pace but he's played the 5th most minutes this season so what do people expect?

SQUAD MANAGEMENT is the key to longevity and consistency.

I’d agree about longevity but you’d have to have the same level of players throughout the squad for consistency and we don’t.

I know we don't, the stats cream that at you. Look at the minutes played here:  https://www.anfield-online.co.uk/stats/lfc-stats.html

I saw another table with most used players (most minutes) in the PL and we had three in the top 10 and something like 5 in the top 20.

The Saudi Pro League (SPL) remains confident that Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah is still considering joining them this summer, according to the Daily Telegraph.
The 32-year-old's Liverpool deal expires this summer and it is claimed there is a new contract offer on the table, but lines of communication remain open with the SPL.
There is reportedly little chance Salah will make the move to Al Hilal ahead of the Club World Cup . An “exceptional” transfer window from June 1 to June 10 has been introduced in time for the tournament in the United States, which starts on June 14.
One senior source, quoted in the report, insists Salah “remains interested” in the SPL and that, although he has prioritised hearing what Liverpool have to offer, he still believes the Egyptian will be signed up this summer.

If he has prioritised hearing our offer then it's obvious we haven't made him one yet.

BBC Radio 5 saying Mo is close to signing a new deal…
“You cannot transfer the heart and soul of Liverpool Football Club, although I am sure there are many clubs who would like to buy it.”

So he’s signed and on the surface that is good, time will tell whether we held on too long. Sometimes a step backward means multiple steps forwards but at least maybe now we have a year to find our next generation goal scorer. I hope signing means Mo will play relaxed and at his best and if he gets subbed doesn’t throw a fit.

I think the VVD contract will be done soon too, another player we need a replacement for in the short to medium term.
